Well, here goes...

So I was gifted some tents, lights, and established genetics to monkey with. I thought to myself, "Hells yeah! Great opportunity". Now I'm about 30 days into my indoor efforts and approx 4-5 wks into flowering of the mother plant outside. The following journal entry is the current status of my grow. Chill for a minute. Check it out. Post questions. Help with advice. I appreciate all the assistance.
This being my first documented and publicly shared grow, I'm a noob. I don't know all the tricks and short cuts. That's what I need from all of you. Thanks in advance. I assure you though, I've been popping seeds and caring for random gifted clones for many years with some moderate success. I understand the process.
Enough blabbing. I'm gonna keep this as simple and clear as possible. Brief descriptions accompanied by pics. Any questions, chime in. Constructive criticism, bring it. Just don't be a dick. Lol. But seriously, offer advice that is substantial and accredited and please don't badger or dictate personal opinion as fact. I'm gonna take a short break and get a few notes organized before continuing with this diary. I will how ever leave you with the following teaser.

Outdoor -1 ea LST Purple Wreck 5 wks into flowering.

Indoor - Veg. 11 ea Purple Wreck 30 days after cut from outdoor mother. LST'd.
Indoor - Veg. 1 ea Deathstar. LST'd awaiting cloning.

In the beginning...

A gifted clone of Purple Wreck. Dropped her in an organic mix I had in the greenhouse. Tucked her away in the corner behind some tomatoes.

After organizing my cloning supplies, I took twelve cuttings. I didn't have a precise system as to what I cut. I just took sections that seemed to be well established with a few nodes. Stem cut at a 45°, stem skin also sliced vertically at the cut end. Multiple .75" cuts to promote root development. The cut ends then dipped in clonex gel and slid into previously prepped peat pellets. (No nutes in pellets yet. And I used small peat pots to help hold up the tall pellets.) Newly established clones tucked into a humidity dome tray and placed on a heat mat with a thermostat set at 72°f. Prior to closing the lid, the foliage was sprayed with a light solution of an organic seedling fert and rooting fert. Good night girls.

They grow up so fast. So after twelve days of maintaining humidity and temps, venting periodically, spraying foliage with light nute solution and running this little T5 on a 18/6 cycle.....
POOF! Magic. Nature took hold after I provided a cozy environment. Nice success rate for a noob. 11/12 cuttings rooted. I removed the peat pots and placed them back in the dome for a night. I am now dealing with full blown clones. Time to transplant.

Couple days past, a few more fuzzy white roots showing and time to transplant. I used some sterilized reclaimed 4" nursery pots. (By sterilized, I mean I rinsed the things out with the hose.) They are slightly larger than the trusty ol solo-cup. My soil is a mix that closely resembles subcool's super soil recipe. At this stage though, omitted the heavy P nutrients and only used the soil amedments to boost the N and K nutes. Mainly a veg mix. That's my theory. Any way, I'll bring up the soil mix a little further along in the diary. For now, transplanting time...
Half filled with veg super soil mix, a sprinkle of mykos granules and backfilled with a general mix with additional mykos. Watered and placed under a T8 fixture in a tray with the heat mat at 72°f. Welcome to your new homes ladies.

I'm gonna just take a moment and comment on the poor quality of my phone camera. I can only say I hope to get some better bud porn pics as this progresses. The girl outdoor in the greenhouse is budding up nicely. I'll get to her in a sec, but I was just saying I'll try to have better pics of final grow. Back to the girl outside. She's starting to preflower at this point. I decide to spread some branches and tie them down. Low Stress Training. Opening up space for all the lower branches to grow. Leveling the canopy.

I love it. All of it!

Just a note: I don't think that LST is going to have much positive effect in a diffuse lighting greenhouse.
But what the heck, what can it hurt.

And another thing: That cutting is on the small side for what I do. Nice job getting them to root, but I question some of the cutting and scoring actions. But, hey it worked. so never mind. FYI I believe that the universal 45 degree end cut is to make a pointy end. It's the heat mat that made it work.

So I'm going to trust you to keep us informed.

No need to respond to this post as I am simply writing it in favor of pressing the "watch thread" button, so don't get a big head from all my excitement. But might be the start of a great thread.

Just tell us the story.

I'll continue the rest of the story to bring the whole thing up to speed and current date. So far, this is all a history lesson of the developments of this grow. Stay tuned folks.

Thanks for the support. As for the scoring of the stem, I've read in many forums and other's grow journals that scoring promotes root development. The 45° cut and scoring of the stem allow for surface area of the soft cellulose tissue beneath the skin of the stem to come in contact with air, nutrients and soil. These areas of contact are where roots begin their struggle to extend from the stem in search of life sustaining water, air, and nutrients. As far as LST on the girl outdoor, well, why not. Lol. After taking the cuttings for clones, she was a little bushy. I just tried to expose the lower branches for development. Let's see what she does. I've grown straight, topped, and mangled clones outdoors with all degrees of success. I don't like the straight single stalks just for the fact that one huge cola and a few medium sized colas along with a bunch of popcorn aren't what I'm after. I like many well formed colas across a level canopy. After today I hope to have the rest of this journal up to date with pics and descriptions.

General question for readers:
I'm curious how short and compact anybody has completed a LST grow. I see plenty of SOG with single stalk plants, but I'm curious if there are any benefits to a small LST x multiple plants. My theory is multi cola development within the sweet spot of a limited light source. Comments of experience well accepted and appreciated. And go....

Let's see, where did I leave off....

Oh yeah. So I have a PurpleWreck just starting to flower out in the greenhouse and her clones are indoors getting established in some 4" pots.
Let's do some LST. No. Not LSD. I said LST. So I spent the next few days bending and securing branches to open up the plants and allow the development of the smaller branching sites on the main stalk. My goal was to train the main stalk to grow horizontally and direct it around the edge of the containers. Taking advantage of as much of the 16 sq inches of the each container. Well, it hasn't gone perfect, but I think I accomplished something. These are some pics of the contorted girls still in their 4" pots getting ready for final transplant.

We're almost back to the future, err the present. Whatever. I have a few more pics and rants to bring this grow journal up to date. I'll be back with those shortly. Stay green.

Ok. So I'm gonna throw a few more pics up here and explain where I'm at with this grow, what I plan to do and take any constructive input. I'll continue to post updates. Thanks again in advance if anybody is willing to follow along and pitch in some advice.

So, my 2x2x4 tent is maxed. My girls have really settled into this veg mix I made and they are ready to transplant into two gal nursery pots. Once they are transplanted, into the 5x5x7 for a week or so of veg, flip on the old 12/12.
The lonely DeathStar that is all fat and stout is gonna get cloned soon. Along with a few of the PurpleWreck in the 5x5. I'm sure I'll find a few unruly branches. Besides, I said this was gonna be perpetual.

So, we're all caught up to date now. I'll update on the outdoor in a day or so. I have a few exhaust and filter issues to figure out in the flower tent so I can move on transplanting. I have some questions about that but I think I'll go check out the grow room group for those questions.

Plants are getting crowded. Slightly root bound and I'm still fucking with exhaust and tent set up. Took six cuttings from the Deathstar and they are day one in the dome. Time to finish silencer box for fan and get this tent operational.

Quite a nice plant you got in that greenhouse. I'm pretty sure I've got the exact same green house but maybe in a different size. I believe mine's 12' X 6'.

Also gotta say those are some purty lookin' clones you got there.

Thanks. Greenhouse is a 10x20 hoophouse. First year having it. Very hot for all season growing, but excellent for starting veggies in the spring and extended season in the fall. Next year have to work on ventilation. First time actually having a decent indoor set up. The clones are first attempt with a 11 out of 12 success. I wasn't expecting that and now a little overrun with trees. Hahahaha. Planning on keeping them small so the light flip is coming soon.

Decided to try a little nute and honey on the outdoor plant. Another farmer passed on to me a sample bottle of nutes from a local store. Nutri plus something another. The thrive formula I believe. 1-1-2 I think. I mix at half rate and added about 2 tbs of honey to a gallon. Drenched her real good. If she fairs well over the next few days I'll hit her with a bit of water if needed, then I'll repeat the same application next week. Possibly adding bat guano tea also. I'm hoping to plump her up a little before a good flush. I'm thinking about three weeks to go. Anybody have experience using honey for a carb load? Any experience with the nutri plus nutes? I'll get some pics over the next couple days to show any results.
