So it's been a minute. As predicted, my time is so freaking short, it's not close to funny. Sorry about that. Beans are down for the solo cup challenge. Talk about that in a sec. My plants are doing phenomenally well. Wish I had the time to snap some pics. But things of interest:
Blue God x Blue Cookies - Seeds have another week to 10 days to go. I already know what these two strains are about because I grew both earlier in the year. The Blue God thing was a hail Mary on some old stock. Lucky to have gotten a boy out of the deal. Both are very colorful, produce tight dense nugs, and frost out well. They respond to mainlining, single cola, bonsai, outdoors very well. Both strains were versitile last season and took everything I threw at them. I pressed the remaining Blue Cookies we had because the shit was so resinous after curing that it kept gumming up the grinder at 54% humidity. And my wife doesn't like bong hits. The dabs are killer lol.
Chemdog #4 - This fem plant I selected is freaking beautiful. 1 solid cola. Heavy flower. Frosting up. Performing incredibly well in a 3 gal bag iin soil. This one was transplanted before I committed to coco. I did cross her with the male CD 4 I had, but only the lower branches. She has a good 3 to 6 weeks to go. Looking forward to their F1's getting into the dirt.
LA Confidential - First time growing this one. And the reason I originally got it was because it had purple in it. Blues and Purples were my "theme" this past year. Very surprised by this one because the top of it has grown out like a skunk with that square off top. No purple leaves. Nugs are tight as hell. Pistils are orange like everything else usually is. Wild plant. Great frost. I've read that people say it smells skunky but doesn't taste like it. I have the mother plant of this one in bonsai. I think I'm going to be putting quite a few of these down in the coming year.
Asto Kush - This strain intrigues the shit out of me. It reminds me of some of the old school stuff we used to grow when I was a kid. It's got a fruity citrus smell but like over ripe fruit, not candy. Hard to describe. It really puffs up well and develops thick frost. I have two phenos of this one. One is green The other is purple. And I have plenty of seeds. I crossed the purple one with a green male. And I crossed the green fem with the
Chemdog #4 male. I have a clone of this plant that is now a bonsai. And I have two others that I have trained into bushes and defoliated going for just the colas. I think 5 each if I'm not mistaken.
Grab Bag Weed Seeds - Yep I fucking did it. I am finishing out some random seeds that I have no clue about their origin and complete strain/lineage info. I know what they could be. But that's a hat with like 2 dozen possibilities in it. They are about a month into flowering. I did the same thing with the Solo Cup Challenge. Everyone's all high and mighty with respect to their glorious strain lineup in that run up. Fuck that. I don't know what they are, but they grow good weed... probably. Down they go. Fuck it. I'll smush it and smoke it.
HSC Pineapple Muffin x Purple Mountain Majesty: Already got a male. That was the thing with the Pineapple Muffin plants I ran earlier in the year. Those fuckers express without light change. Like I had them under 24/7 back then still and they flipped fem pistils and not those pussy pre flowers. I'm talking they SPIT pistils like a bitch. Actually complained about it. There isn't any ruderalis in their lineage chat. WTF. Anyway... guess what went into full bloom? This fucking cross. Irritated? Yep. Have no idea why the hell it does that. Drives me insane. In any case, I have a boy. That means we're getting F2's. And all of these plants are uniform. I mean you can line them up like soliders. Males are tall. Fems are medium. Have a nice day lol. Pretty typical of HSC. They have uniformity and stability down. What I like is that trait obviously carries through to crosses of their strains which makes my life SO freaking easy. The other thing is that their leaves purpled up on the edges in veg. That is something I REALLY like. Hopefully it carries through to the F2s. Now if I get uniformity in F2s my eyes are going to bug.
So I've got the bean library under construction. Light and dark views are done so that everyone has what they want. It's a simple clean interface. And there's an account sign in area, etc. I'm about to put the prototype onto the website so that everyone can check it out. It's linked up but there's no functionality behind it yet that I can launch publicly. But at least this will give everyone a better idea regarding what we are angling for.
I think
@Grownsince95 said something about the bullshit would get exposed once genetic testing is possible on all strains. It would be hilarious to me if we were all growing a zillion variants of the same dozen plants. Can you fucking imagine? By selective breeding we found frosted flakes. Yay lol! Idk I've grown a lot of different strains over the last year and have 40+ more to go. I keep finding so many similarities between strains. Smell, taste, growth patterns, nute tolerances, media preferences.
I haven't found anything profoundly different and new that is worth mentioning in the world of weed other than the variety of seeds and easy access to them. Seriously. It's the same old shit and hype. The top of the line dual light systems HPS/HH were around 1200 bucks back in the day for the big ones that fried your ass like an easy bake oven. Gavitas... 1200. I run all
Viparspectra P series lights. All of them. Pretty green fixtures that don't put out a lot of heat, the entire tops are heat syncs, and they try to blind you if you look at them directly. They do good. Really good. Coco fiber is cool for grow bags. I'll run with it for a while. But when I say something about these custom molded trays came in, know I'm going back to my old hybrid set ups. Just need to find the right pots. Screw
auto watering. I'm running back to constant feed and film.
I like
Earth Juice Seablast A LOT. I like LEDs... A LOT. And I like seeds A LOT. Everything else? Pretty much the same. The "new" methods save me money on electric running 18/6 instead of 24/7. I still think 24/7 was faster btw.
PH? Used to be 7. Now we stick it at 6.3. Fuck it. I stick it at 6.5. Cal/Mag uptake... I think it happens at 6.3 or maybe whatever I read was wrong. My plants seem to do better with it that way.
My point to this is that I really don't think that much has changed. Optimum environment = Optimum output. How we deliver that? Same old fucking way. Lights. Media. Nutes.
Tired of the debates.
Any questions?
Come smoke.
It will fuck
you up.
Promise.
PS. Dabs ROCK.
That
is
all.
