those roots look disgusting.... I'm sorry your back, your misinformation is harmful to everyone.

Pics are at 10 days of veg w/ nothing but base nutes, H2O2, cal-mag and epsom...

Of course you also took the pics under a white light to emphasize the color...I took this pic under a hps so there is your creamy color tint....If you are running a sterile rez of course the roots will be whiter...If you are trying to run bennies then your roots will have a slight color to them.....actually mine look a lot thicker and stonger than yours.....tell me this.....who's hair is stronger....the supermodel who douses her hair in chemies or the dreaded rastaman who relies on nature......your roots would tear faster in a tug o war for sure.....white but brittle...or.....cream color and strong......which would you prefer? Disgusting?.....come on....don't be dramatic.....

What's good MM?

Good stuff Marta & click80

Yeah I was under the impression that RE was for after roots as well. I have been tinkering with GH's Rapid Start "rooting enhancer". Seems to work so far. I alternate it with Great White, @ 1ml/G. Still haven't done a side by side with and without. Anyone else using RSR? Thoughts on the product? I was told it was GH's attempt at RE at a much better price. Not sure about that though, but it is low in cost.

Posted info:
Rapidstart enhances your growing experience by delivering a powerful blend of premium plant extracts, amino acids, and nutrients generating explosive root growth. Using Rapidstart stimulates prolific root branching and development of fine root hairs that increase nutrient uptake and grow healthier, whiter roots. Using Rapidstart will make your plants explode! Use during the entire growing cycle in all types of growing media, including coco. Rapidstart, strong finish; bigger is always better!

Sorry if I'm steering the topic off, not my intentions.

Cheers,
Crom

Yeah my hydro lady said the HFm sales people state they reverse engineered RE...I have just recently heard back from a friends son, at U of Arizona, just back from Antarctica, I had my friend email him awhile back for me about RE as at the time I was having root trouble, did not really understand soil science and did not have a good grasp on roots, the rhizosphere, respiration, etc....but at the time RE was saving a grow, gotta give it that much. Anyway, they threw RE up for discussion, they were down there running a Hydro unit for the University and they said because of the mixed results people have with RE that they thought it might have as one component these things called NOD factors??? I googled it and they are also called LOCs, and up until recently were thought to only affect Legumes. Now they are finding out that these Lipo-oligosaccharides (doing that from memory so cut me a break..lol) will affect growth rates on other crops AND there was something about the anaerobic claim from H and G that rang a bell with them...anyway I will be talking to him in a couple weeks and will get the full rundown. But FWIW these are some pretty smart cookies.

Oh and I found a link that has some good prices I think, on Mycorhizza

and this one is to a site that certifies companys selling bennies, that they have a certain amount of active bennies, it goes to one of their pages where they list the companies they certify, the above company being one of them...

sorry if off topic but the post before me mentioned Great White and I remembered i bookmarked these....

so there ya have it...

ok im no pro but

in most of the stuff I have read beneis are what in nature do the chelating of the nutes NPK this is how organic nutes work ..the beneis and fungi put enzymes on the inmobile nutes in the soil co co ...etc to break it down (chelating ) then they transport it to the root system and exchange it for sucrose .(sugar ) this is the natural way

in hydro or with chelated ferts the beneis and fungi starve and die off to minimal numbers not enough to help the plant the plant takes in all nutes without the help of beneis .......this is what make hydro produce such large yealds its like mainlining the plant food... but from what I have read about plant biology any chelated fert system kills off beneis its kinda like the carb products on the market..... I will say it again PLANTS DONT EAT SUGAR THEY MAKE IT FOR THE BENEIS........lol so to sum up

hydro and beneis is the same as carbs in hydro their are not enough beneis in a chelated nute system to warrent their use
so the best place to use beneis is in organic system

hydro or any system with chemical nutes ( just couldnt write it againLOL)
should be thought of as a sterile system
this info doesnt come from me it is not just about weed this is how most plants work as far as science sees it to day:nod

WTF is up with this thread right here, and the thread specifically on roots right above this one. This thread says its bullshit, that one says its THE shit.

I think JK has it down with the fulvic and aminos couples with IBA.

IBA is cheap as fuck and will root the shit out of plants. Plus, you cant really over due it.

Yep. Few tablespoons of IBA (.01%) in the aeroflow and you get explosion in 1-2 days. Far surpassing re, with out the mess or the price.

I'm putting together a thread on rooting and iba right now at papas request. They are all very cheap, but if anyone has a killer deal on it id like to hear as well.

No offense masonite but thick roots are NOT the goal. A multiplicity of thin roots with a pleathora of hairs and therefore increased surface area for better nutrient uptake, THAT is the goal.

Whats the difference if I have heavy corded roots or my fine fuzz (aero) if I get 2.5 lb/plant? Root porn is nice but really all I care about is what I harvest. JK
And I have constantly dingy reddish/brown roots

I sent this to DS and I think he is starting another thread about this but anyway here are so links for asst IBA stuff, the Hummert site also has Cyocel, Bonzi, and other pgr stuff...

...I use the water soluble salts, it is epa approved...I get the same results in rapid rooters with the water soluble salts as i did with gel. Have done it two times now. I mix it as a spray at about 500ppm. There is a thread on here i started when i had a stretch problem. It ended up not being exactly bad, just unexpected. I think it could have been from using the IBA water soluble salts as a spray on cuttings. When i ordered this stuff, some fact sheets for commercial growers came with it and said that with the spray method you get a sustained response from your plants and they got increased shipping survival rates for propagated cuttings...anyway

Main info page http://hortus.com/

big ass box of hormex powder

Water soluble salts

What about NAA?

In an experiment 1 on date palms the effects of IAA,IBA and NAA was tested. The notable conclusion of the experiment was that on these existing roots NAA 50 PPM and 100 PPM promoted growth while IBA slowed it down.

yep i have read several papers that showed differing results with different species. I feel (I want to do my own tests with cannabis) that IAA and NAA may help root growth more than root initiation. I know that overall IBA does the job much better for me on cannabis, and since there are many more products available commercially for root formation containing IBA v/s the others that overall I would bet on IBA. My feelings are definitely not empirical evidence obviously.

Did anybody ever do a culture to prove RE is dead?....or alive?

I am one of those people who never really did a side-by-side.....I just "think" it works.

Come to think of it....I get roots in 10 days in RW no matter WTF I use.

Dont give me shit for this, its a grow store story....a guy told me he was culturing RE.

He says he makes a tea, but with a small pump in the brewer that flows across a mesh sack of pebbles. He says the culture grows in the pebbles and he is able to reproduce it. He could be growing E Coli for all I know. Just passing along a tale I heard.

A proper culturing test should tell the whole story.

Yes, but I haven't been able to determine that I can culture anything that ISN'T already floating around in the air. In other words, I did a control of plain water alongside a batch Tx'd with RE, and both appeared the same.

I think it's less likely that your friend is growing E. coli, or at least any strain that's dangerous. I don't know that they're a benthic organism, but the pebbles are required to culture any benthic bacteria/microbes. For instance, Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter, both required in a healthy aquatic system to convert first NH3/4 into NO2 and then convert the NO2 into NO3 (oxidization of NH3/4 is what's happening) must have a surface to attach to, cannot be cultured without surfaces.
