Hi Cap,

When will the e-bay stock be replenished?

Yoko

Ebay raised my selling limits today so there is no more shortage. I'm not out of stock, they just weren't letting me sell more than 100 items a month. Off topic. Yoko what is your recipe for success?

in what order are you adding these when you mix up a tank?
If this is for me, that is a good question and would be very helpful to those reading along.

I weigh the jacks, MKP, k2so4, epsom, and MOST in a dixie cup.this is my part 1

Then I weigh the CaNO3 and CaCl2 (if I am using that) in a dixie cup.this is my part 2

My res is full of RO water.

I use a 2 big plastic snapple containers and fill them with hot water. I add part 1 in bottle one and part 2 in bottle 2, then I shake them until they are dissolved.

Then I add 1 ml/ gal silica. then pour in the part 1. then I wait a few minutes for it to mix up. I have a pretty good pump and I turn the bypass valve open all the way so it is just blowing water around in the res and not in to my system.

Then I add part 2.

Then I wait a minute.

Then I check pH and adjust as needed. In veg I usually keep it around 6.0-6.2. In flower I adjust to 5.2 with Sulfuric acid made from concentrate.

Then A-1 roots.

Then bennies (no CaCl2 if adding bennies).

HOW TO MAKE CHEAP pH down:

buy concentrated sulfuric acid (I got min e on ebay for diesel batteries)

Get a 1 gallon jug of distilled water. pour out a couple cups. Put on long sleeve gloves, goggles. POur 1 cup of concentrated sulfuric acid in to container.ALWAYS POUR ACID IN TO WATER AND NOT WATER IN TO ACID.

Leave it be. It will get very warm. Put the cap on when it cools.

Be smart don't do this with kids around where they can grab the jug thinking its water and pour it all over themselves.

This is what I've been using, you have to mix each in separate containers so I use a couple Rubbermaid 30L totes and my main res. add 1ml ProTekt per gallon to the main res. which has about 1/4 the need solution then I divide the remaining water into my totes with air pump turning water, add 25ml CNS17 Grow Coco to one tote and 1g of Epsom Salt to the other, keep 32oz. in a cup for later. Add .4ml Drip Clean to another tote and let everything mix for about 20 minutes. Slowly add the Epsom to the main res with Protekt already in it and let mix for 10 minutes, add in the CNS slowly and let mix again. Test ph and ppm now with the 32oz. of water set aside add in AN ph up or down and let sit then slowly add in up or down that is diluted to adjust res. add slowly not to over/under adjust. I get mine to 5.8-5.9 and always test ph and ppm of runoff when watering. Now your adjusted add in the drip clean and let aerate over night. Check in morning adjust if needed
I've used this feed through an entire grow with NO need to flush every week or two just always get your self 20-30% runoff and if the ppm's are WAY higher then your putting in back off the ppm's by diluting the next watering to half the strenght as before and get 30-40% runoff
And in bloom I use Protekt 1ml CNS17 Bloom Coco 30ml per gallon Epsom and Drip Clean and CNS17 Hydro 15ml MOAB 2tsp. Hammerhead 2.5ml and Banana Manna 1oz. Per gallon for last two weeks then a week of 50/50 RO and tap with banana manna 1oz. Per gallon then RO till ready, usually about a week and a few days will get everything leached out
Check my current grow I'm using this method now and it's killing the Lucas/H3AD formula

Great Posts here. I just switched to CNS17 and can honestly say gatta mix it in some water before adding to main res. Added it directly to a 100g res and was stiring for almost 20 minutes to get it mixed enough

Ya if you don't mix separately you'll get little white floaties or mineral chunks which are gypsum. Gypsum is made when calcium bonds with sulfur. So mix everything separately and in enough volume of water to dilute properly, I turn the pump on it's side in corner and it really helps to mix that CNS17 :)

This is classic flocculation. Some other minerals do it too, but calcium and sulphur sure love to get together! Gypsum is like 97% water insoluble, so once it's bound, it's not coming back.

MOST:
sulfur: 13%
boron: 1.35%
copper: 2.3 %
iron: 7.5%
Manganese: 8%
Molybdenum: .04%
Zinc: 4.5%

thats from my can of it anyway.

Hey Cap a question for ya: what are your feelings about the idea of the "myth of high P"? I know some users of Jack's Hydro, like snowblind I believe, advocate running the same basic formula from veg thru flower. Obviously you do not; would you care to share your rational for the changes you make to your nut formula at different points in the growing stages?

I am at the start of week five and am about to mix up some concentrates; thus far I've been running part A: 2 grams Jack's Hydro and 1 gram Epsom; part B 3 grams CalNit in 100 ppm tap with a little bleach added. So far my plants look great but I need to mix up some new concentrate tomorrow and am thinking to change up to a simplified version of your weeks 4 and 5 flower formula. I'm a bit short on funds right now and I lack your ingredients like MOST, MKP, Potash etc. but I do have a bottle of Pure Flowers . . .

Anyway I really like the concept of this thread and would like to see it get the attention it deserves . . . maybe even stickied.

Sorry res, I just saw this.

I am a believer of low P. I feed around 30 ppm in veg and max at 60 ppm in bloom. Normally in bloom I stay at about 40 ppm, but during the course of experiments I have gone a little higher. Never more than 60.

I am playing with new formulas now. I have added back CaCl2 to my program at around .5 grams/gallon (added to the Cal Nitrate). This gives me Cl (vital mineral), and extra Ca (love Ca, it is your friend). I also picked up some MAP, and since my jacks is almost gone I am ordering potassium nitrate and magnesium nitrate so I can tailor the formulas further.

If anyone is running purple kush I have a very good formula for that. From veg through the end, I had no toxicities or deficiencies. Not even a burnt leaf tip or a shitty looking bottom leaf in week 8. It was my best looking run of all time. I can post it here if anyone is interested.

Cap, what EC are you running when you use those P values?
I see where your micros have like a 1:1 ratio for Fe:Mn. Mine is 4.5 ppms Fe to .75% Mn, at a 6:1 ratio.
I need to get some micros with your values so I can mix them both to arrive at the 2:1 Fe:Mn ratio and watch for effect.
The old hydroponic hobby book I've been checking out shows chloride at similar proposed values as K for ppms.
I would be hella interested in your purple kush values if it is convenient for you to post that info.
Gracias senor.

I am running around 1.8-2.2 EC with those values. Let me see if I can dig up my notes for the pk. I will post it up here later. I use MOST with sulfur for my micros. I also got 10% iron dtpa but I had not read that shit I posted about the Fe:Mn critical ratios yet, so I think I may be locking some shit out right now. oops.

No worries Cap. I'd love to see your formula for PK. Are you feeding all your strains different formulas? That sounds like a pain. Are you feeding your coco plants differently than your hydro one'? Is the Cl in CaCl turning out to not be an issue with your benes?

All plants in ebb flo and coco get fed the same.. the MPB gets 50% of that.

Here is my pk (purple kush) recipe for success (see attached pdf):

The bloom formula weeks 1-3 is the same as the veg formula . For the first week past rooted cut I used this half strength. I flushed with just RO for one week starting day 55, taking it to 62 days, but really it is done at like 58 days.

I also religiously used my root and foliar pack tea @ 1 cup tea / 5 gallons of res, so 20 cups.

The roots were insane. they filled the 4" tubes and crawled down 1" drain and were all over the main res. It was one of my best runs and produced about 5 honkers from 3 600's.

Keep in mind that PK is not a notoriously heavy yielder.
