Not because I'm an antagonist (although I am), not because I am a contrarian (although I love to play Devil's advocate), but rather because it is WHAT I BELIEVE."
Same here, my christian beliefs fall outside of the mainstream, but hold up to challenge within the Christian faith.. You know you brought up a thought that so many people take a hardline approach and Romney has that mixed with his etchosketch lifestyle. That hardline is "if you dont believe like me, your wrong, your rligioun is wrong, and i'll put a bullet in you if you disagree, now bow down and kiss my toe,, yes the big toe, kisss it... lol I imagine that is what stewie on Family guy would say.. On a side note my new One hit wander x bubba alex that a friend gave me ; ) Oh yeah.. Now where was I ?,,,,
You and I can have our beliefs, and be cool with one another.. I know i certainly won't change your mind and you know the same goes here. However we can discuss it where others cannot, because they cant get past "im right"
Every person and thing is the center of it's own universe.
Probably have typed the following more in the last year than I've done anything else aside from have sex with my girlfriend, smoke weed, and watch the daily show:
The age of reason is over.
The age of being right at all costs (even if you're not) is well underway.
We're all, each one of us, worse off for it--and we're all a part of the problem, the only question is to what degree. In my opinion, people like us--in this sense--are on the low end of what is a problem.
Fucking zealots are ruining this country on both sides, and neither side knows what the fuck its talking about because it hasn't taken all of the data into consideration. This is just a special case of researcher bias the way I look at it.
Christians (conservatives) think we should all follow gods law : Liberals, while many are christian, believe this is a stupid plan.
That SINGLE disagreement has convinced both sides that all of the fiscal policies and economic ideas of the other side are hogwash. It's a fallacy. Both sides have good things to add.
What we need, in this country, is to quit politicking about social issues--and start politicking about money and our public systems (education, health, etc).
The reason I'm liberal: I think the democrats actually want to have this happen--and the conservatives could give a shit so long as more people are forced into god's will. Also I know that the private sector ON ITS OWN cannot compete with private sectors in other parts of the world with the FULL AID of their ENTIRE GOVERNMENT behind them.
If the WHOLE WORLD was capitalist, then capitalism would be the end-all-be-all. Unfortunately a group of people 5-6 times the size of our population are ruining our ability to compete by being communist.
There are two options:
1. Allow the government to take a role in economic development.
2. Buy Rosetta Stone:Mandarin for your kids.
There is no third option. Either we'll compete with China or we won't. It will NOT happen without the aid of our government.
Our process:
Economic decision needs to be made to aid Americans in being competetive ---------------> mention it once ----------------> fight about gay marriage and abortion.
China's:
The country's foremost experts all tell a dude what's good. The dude says, okay--that's our policy now.
Our's:
We need to make it more attractive for firms (international and american) to manufacture goods in our country---------->say it once----------> give giant tax breaks to the people outsourcing jobs--------------> argue about gay marriage and abortion some more.
China's:
If even a single variable falls in our favor in terms of attracting new manufacturing business, again those experts come in and tell the guy how he can put a stop to it. He does--THAT DAY.
Our's:
Just fight about shit, ignoring everything.
China's:
Meticulously plan for, using the country's greatest minds, the economic demise of America--and the subsequent rise of China as the world's new superpower.
Whole lot of good talking shit about communism is going to do when communism WINS.
Our's:
Pretend that China ISN'T doing what its doing--that they havent' changed ecnomic policy to fuck America 12 times in the past 3 MONTHS. That we aren't fucked if we don't stop it---------> and make sure to argue more about gay marriage and abortion and whether or not our president is even from here, or whether he's a muslim.
China:
Laugh. Just fucking laugh.
I have discovered the downfall of "government by the people, for the people." during this argument.
It doesn't work if the people in the country are a bunch of fucking asshats, greedy fucks, and retards. When the majority of your country is made of people who don't even know how the system of government works at a very basic level, and then you ask them to decide how the system of government will fit together on a person-by-person basis--you're inviting failure.
3 things to fix this country:
1. Term limits for congressmen. This is inevitable, everyone' is talking about it (except congress).
2. Citizens must pass a competency test which covers our system of government (at a 4th grade social studies level)--prior to making a vote.
3. The legislation which used to prevent newsmedia from doing non-obvious opinion pieces should be brought back. Originally it was, "just the facts ma'am"--and it was that way because news was not profitable. It was government subsidized, and as a result it had to be impartial and unbiased. It was a public SERVICE, now it is infotainment. TLDR: If you lie on the news, or twist facts, you can be prosecuted/fined/shut down entirely.
A few things that would happen:
1. Better people who wanted to do a public service rather than gain a career would run for office. Corruption would drop off sharply as the "old guard" was forced out. You can't sit on capitol hill for 20 years without having a few little birds in your ear--people aren't perfect, and impervious to bribery and their greater desires. We have forgotten this. Politicians will keep proving it to us until we take note. As much as I like Obama, that includes people who have taken the path he has. We need these guys out. I think he's a bit of a diamond-in-the-rough if you will in that sense, but either way he's still a fucking Harvard lawyer.
What about being a Harvard graduate makes you so likely, and qualified, to become president?
2. Smarter voters would be making decisions about who can best run our government.
3. I could stop wanting to kill every person I talk to about politics for being such a fucking moron-robot-person operating on untrue information.
