Hello farmers! I have been experimenting a lil with taking my cuts and not putting the dome on my tray and using rapid rooters just keepin em moist i got 100% on about 15cuts.
The reason i did this is cuz i was losing some clones when i would transition the cuts out from under the dome they wud all go limp and some wud actually die. I know to do it a lil each day and try to make the transition into a lower humidity environment a lil less stressfull. for example start with an hr a day without the dome and so on, more time without dome each day. I didnt like doing this so i tried to do it without the dome, and i'll tell ya what...i'll never use it again unless its needed..maybe with those tough to clone strains*
oh yea i always use the heat mat summer, winter doesnt matter i laways use it 2root anything- seed/clone.

So how many of you do this? You guys use a dome or not???

ill go snap acouple picks... i also tried those 4inch rockwool blocks and had great results.

gonna post pics in a min

i Just tried rooting some cuts in straight nute water, no air stone just a small jar. I tried it on my afghan kush and both cuts rooted! I usually use the dome as well and have had great success. I noticed the fatter stemmed clones are the fastest to root and most vigorous. I have noticed what you are talking about though about taking the dome off dramatically, but thats why i get the domes with the breathing holes in them. after about a week i open the dome up and see no problems.

I've recently been taking cuttings, dipping them in clonex gel and sticking them straight into wet coco (which i would think would be similar to rapid rooters) and just leaving them on the shelf with all my small plants and most of them root just fine. I've never used a humidity dome, but until recently i was using a home made aero cloner. I have definitely noticed that some strains root easier than others and have kept my aero cloner around for those pickier strains.

cool info farmers. i also have tried to root a clone in plain water with sucess but took so long the cut almost died. Anyways i have been lookin into these clone machines and are to expensive...my rockwool and rapid rooters work just fine. i swear to god clonning is addicting!!!!! i remember when i first learned how to clone i must of had like 80 cuts that all rooted, i recall filling the entire dome up. haha, thank god it was about 2 be outdoor growin weather and i just put em all outside and gave some away..

Also i've been using a lil sample bottle of clone gel i got its Hydroponix brand and works just as good as clonex.

Whats the fastest u have gotten cuts to root and what was ur method??

mine was 3 days with rockwool cubes soaked in ph'd 5.5 and used a heat mat under the dome. strain was big buddha cheese. Still to this day i have this cut and it always roots in 6 days or less, with no dome.

Never used a humidity dome, hell I dont even mist them.

I just go with rooting gel
Rooting solution
and in 16 to 18 days I have root porn
Done, no need to over think it

It always takes me a long time 2 get roots also.. Usually 2 weeks & my WiFi #1 is picky & can take up to 21 days.. This last round of clones the White Fire #3 rooted in 10 days.. But only 1 rooted fast the rest still haven't rooted..

Im a pretty Firm Believer in the Humidity Dome myself..and the Thermo stat regulated seedling Mat. I also put about a half an Inch of water in the bottom of my main tray Holder. I think Temps and Humidity are of serious Importance to cutting sucess. When using Rapid Rooters, pre soak in a Mixture of 1/3 cup Olivias Rooting Solution and 1Tbls of B-1 per Gal of water. I also use my Ice-pick tool to Pre-poke the Hole in the rapid rooter. After inserting your Cut into the Rapid rooter, tear off Little pieces of the Rapid rooter edges and pack them gently into the space around the Stem and the Hole..You dont need too Pack it all the way down..Just enough to seal it Up!! I average about 99.99% sucess with Rapid rooters..sometimes, the Devils in the Details. Hope this helps!!

im addicted to cloning...i cant stop...they are taking over.

also another thing i been experimenting with is using clone gel then dippin it in the clone powder, idk if it makes a difference but seems like i get roots quicker than if i use just one of the cloning solutions. Does anyone else do this???

i sometimes dont even use gel but when i do i only use one.i think compounds that have those rooting agents in em are in different bottles for a reason just seems like to much chemical on the little bitch lol but results are what counts so if it works clone it out homie

kes5480 I've rooted clones with and with out domes
The ones I root that don't have a dome usually take about 7 more days to root.
I don't use gels or powders, just rockwool cubes and a little diluted GH Flora nutrient

I usually get about a 98% success rate...
I always use some bottom heat though.

Hey Waayne,
can you explain your bottom heat setup for your cloning in more detail? I see that the heating mat is in some sort of cage. Is that a pre-made item? Do you use a thermostat on it?

Oh yeah, and your clones look great of course.

Thanks,

-TF

ive seen cuts go in a tim hortons cup with a lil coffer left .went to throw them out and when we pull em out the coffee they had huge root. and myself i dont use a dome at all.. i just foliar mist a few time with pure water and thats it. and i always get over 95% success with explosive roots..
