Hot knives were an awesome weed trick, the pre-dab dabs...and yes, learned to do them in a trailer. Buddies dad busted us out for screwing up the cutlery, "you assholes doing hot knives...of course I know what they are and why all the butter knives have black tips." Had a gravity bong that I would burn incense powder in, would load it up with a sticks worth and use it to quickly put out enough smoke to cover the weed smell.

yeah what i liked about hot knifes. hah. took such a little bit of bud for a killer ass hit. hah. great for teens. cold ytou imagine if hot knifes became popular in rap culture. hha

there burnt tip platinum silver ware. and of course no toilet paper roll is gonna cut it.. they have a custom glass piece blown. sorta ruins the point of it. hah

nothing new in rap i guess.

Thanks so much for the reply. What are you thoughts about the Supercritical c02 machine? Do you see profit in that investment in California?

Sure don't. Unless the cost has come down considerably.

Pens are going to be the future possibly. Co2 allows for that.

Good question. I don't have that answer.

Is pressing kief and flow the same rosin result? Are you able to sell kief rosin; seems like a cheaper route

Kief rosin, IMO, isn't as good. Unless kiefed with liquid nitrogen. Still not as fast as bho though.

Kief dabs:
get cold, tumble, collect, stuff bags, press

BHO
Stuff and purge

Way more steps to Blasting,
Way less for Rosin, Don't need liquid nitro for golden dry sift rosin. (Unless you have a tumbler then WAY too much Chlorophyll, IMHO ugly Rosin)
Takes a couple hours AT MOST to be prepared for Rosin making and bags stuffed (I press with a 20 ton and blast with a 8 oz column)
Takes a couple hours AT LEAST to get all the blasting equipment prepared. Then a 4+ day purge flipped every 2-3 hrs, NEVER skimp this part, but everyone likes to only purge for a day or two at most which makes them idiots getting headaches. Unless whipping Budder.

My point being. Rosin is a bout 10,000% easier and faster than making BHO.
I dewax my BHO, I do nothing special with Rosin except whippit a bit for color and curing.
(Yes Rosin drys and Cures, initially its somewhat sappy, but when let out to sit, it can turn into crumble, shatter, sugar wax etc.) Dry sift makes the most Shatter.

I will agree that BHO is way more consistant in every way and depending where you are can be lucrative. It is the most recognizable dabbable concentrate. However I will not agree to it being faster in any way shape or form.

So, you are pressing kief then? Or flowers?

Both,
if the kief has too much green or material it goes through a 40 micron screen dry sift prior.
Flower is mostly pucked up because of how expensive 35 micron rosin bags are. My bags are mostly used for dry sift.
(I do not produce nearly as much as you though)

I have a process that maybe is too time consuming then?

I take all the stems out and break up all the nugs so no extra leaf or stem is on the buds. This means buds are trimmed, and stem free. So no large nugs, only small nugs node by node.

BHO you don't need to do any of this right?

I think we are talking from different starting points. For example:

Live Rosin BHO
Buck, pack, blast (2000 grams at a time?), purge

Rosin (when I make it)
trim, break down nugs, pack bags, squish 40 grams at a time.

You make all good points as well........ Maybe I have been looking at things wrong. With a vac purge lasting days, that is something to consider. However 40 gram squishes at a time is a lot less material........No need to trim with BHO.........hmmmmm

How much does a press like that cost? What’s the learning curve like?

Has any one here pressed fresh cut flowers or fresh trim? I’m just curious....
