So I have the same issue myself and basically all I did was I’ve run a dual manifold that goes into my ceiling dumping out into my attic the two ports on the dual manifold are 6 inch fans and filters that turns into an 8 inch on the top side in my attic I have an 8 inch carbon filter post filter That lasts forever. I get at least four years out of one of those. Good to go.
how smart is it to dump 70%rh in to a wooden attic?

Anyone in Sydney interested in a custom built smell free drying cabinet ?
I couldn't find anything so I built my own.
Compressor removed, circulation fans working and carbon filter extraction (brand new filter and fan)
Works perfectly, these are copies of what I am currently using.
I have 2 for sale (see pictures) View attachment 2348896View attachment 2348897
i just use a peltier and keep it compleatly sealed. peltier dries the weed and since its sealed no smell goes out.you just get an explosion of smell when you open it to remove the water it collected

I have louvered peaks on both sides of my house with exhaust fans.
Derrrrere
Imagine a world where there’s attics that have fans in them
Look around you, my friend you’re here right now! attics and fans gallivanting around ventilating peoples shit its pandemonium homie.
Who’s shitting in your cereal, bro and by the way if you don’t have lovered ventilation on the side of your house up in the attic you should do that shit it really lower your electric bill in the summer
🤔👊🏻🤡
Like seriously bro,
Dont think about shit too hard now….

You can even go one farther, bro you can just go ahead and take the ventilation tube that came through the ceiling into the attic and jump it straight straight into the vent that takes care of the hot air from your dryer. There’s all types of crafty ways to mitigate that Cool though cool stuff. 🤓

nah i got an old house our attic is just woden beams and tiles.

I love this hobby ! But I may need to pull the plug unless I can grow 100% odor free. There has to be a way? Can it be done? I grow Low(er) odor strains like Northern Lights and Durban Poison...They still smell quite a bit during mid to late flower... (and harvest)

Setup details:

I use a DIY locking metal cabinet with an AC Infinity Fan and a carbon filter. It removes 95% of the odor, but that little 5% is my problem.. The room I grow in is in my basement without good ventilation. Any small odor escaping builds up over time.

I'm considering:

Simple solutions:

Running a second carbon filter at the exhaust, either using a single fan or using two fans..

Maintain a masking odor continuously in my grow room. (even when I'm not growing)... Pine, Peppermint, hell maybe even a skunk spray might work...(slight skunk).. I've had great luck using turpentine, the masking odor is perfect, but I'm not sure this is safe in a grow room... " Honey, Why does the basement smell so much?'...." I've been watching Bob Ross and have started oil painting my love " (true story)

Complex solutions:

Install something like a bathroom fan in my grow room to vent escaping odors outside... I'm not sure how well this will work and it will be quite an effort and expense..

Running a large 8 inch carbon filter fan to scrub air in the entire grow room outside of my cabinet.. (in addition to my internal fan/filter combo. Con's expensive to maintain this for one plant grows...

Has anyone else come up with a way to grow completely odor free? Please let me know.

Run an exhaust fan out a window if you have one avaliable. That will reduce it considerably. Just keep in mind your room conditions will change, and you will need to make humidity and temp moves once you start pulling air out of the house.

I live in Canada, so in the winter if I'm exhausting air outside my house becomes a desert. It's dry as hell.

With the exhaust fan the room itself will have odor but it won't leave the grow room. All air in the house will be flowing into the room. Preventing the smell from wafting out. Just make sure you cfm is going to be large enough for the room. My rule of thumb is roughly 2 cfm per square foot. That way I have lots of room to ramp my exhaust up during peak flowering.

No need for a filter if you already run one. That 5% you talk about is like pissing in the ocean to the outside air.

You could set this up for 100$ if you cheap out on equipment. All you need is a flexible hose(10$), an ac window vent adapter (10$), and a fan (60$-150$)

Same bro. And honestly dude at the same time man like I’ve live in the swamp for example I would say 85% of the year here it’s 100% humidity so that’s another reason why I have the louvers with the exhaust fans up there but at the same time it’s just wet here bro and I mean there’s ways to get around it and honestly 70% humidity going up into the attic ain’t nothing compared to what the normal weather is like here anyway

There must be a way to filter thru water. Like the old school dryer wet buckets for homes with no dryer vent built in.
Its called a "air scrubber".We used them to remove toxic exhaust and its byproducts from manufacturing silicon chips.

no window, but it happens that my grow cabinet sits on the same side of my house that my dryer and bathroom fan vent out to. The dryer and bathroom ducts run directly above my grow. I would need to create another hole in my house and another duct to go outside.

Virginia here, we get a little cold in winter not quite Canada cold (I used to live in Vermont---I know what real cold is).. Love winter for flowering due to the "desert" you mention... Low RH works well for me for flower and drying...

Yes ! Exactly what I was thinking... However I will not be able to run a duct directly from my tent exhaust, my cabinet will still be dumping the 5% into my grow room... I'm hoping a strong bathroom fan will suck the odor out, at least that's the plan.

Yep, maybe it won't be that bad.... I will need to add a bathroom fan though, add around $150. If I run a big 4 inch hose out of my "secret" grow cabinet, it wont be a secret anymore !

I'm hoping something like this will move that last bit of odor (piss) out to the "ocean" !

Those are some nice looking buds! I hope you find something to manage the smell. Would be really sad when you need to quit this way.

Thanks !

this is really well done, thanks for sharing. I've considered doing something like this for drying but for now use my tent..

Slowly we rise. I'm happy your Cannabis Life is good and the very best wishes to your Family and You. Happy New Year!

Sorry man, maybe I was a little too rough on this guy, it felt like he was rubbing in his good fortune over my problem... Maybe I took it wrong and he just wanted to share..

This is how I took it.... (I'm the guy without gloves in winter)...

This is my favourite one I've made to date
I used to use the tent but it meant I couldn't start a new one till I was completely finished.
Also, I have more control so no mould issues and can cure for weeks instead of days

Man, that's amazing, I'm jealous...Its all about the cure after harvest and getting it just right is tricky, I'm sure this helps a lot...

Mispoke, I don't have a tent, I have a metal cabinet to grow in. It works great for drying but I can't grow anything until drying completes !

They make commercial bud dryers that are completely automated, I've considered one but they are very expensive. Cool to see someone go DIY with this.

Thanks , I'm very proud of it
I looked for months and spent wasted $ on things like the Gorilla curing rack with carbon filter (don't ever waste your money on one of these) before I decided there is nothing on the market that works and it was time to get on the tools :)

Some people setup a carbon filter in their lung room. If your basement is open you might consider creating a room in the corner of the basement. Some frame up a room, some use plastic or tarp. An additional carbon filter in a more enclosed area will help.

The best carbon filters still struggle a bit when you open up your tents later in flower. The solution to that would be to chum up more to the neighbors, move further out or maybe there are other issues that require privacy. I only flower four plants at a time and flowering and trim days are the worst. I’m going to replace my carbon filters on the two grow tents soon. The manufacturers recommend replacement so check your manual.

Buying and installing a big fan in my basement, wiring it (electric) and then cutting an exhaust vent outside my home is not a small job... A man must know his limitations in life, it took me two days to install a garbage disposal.... (I'm no handy man !)

My bet is hiring someone to do this would cost well over 1K without parts... DIY is the only way and I've been putting it off for almost a year.. Thats why I'm running out of weed..

I like to compare this option to a common bathroom fan. Things can get smelly in a bathroom right? But those little low CFM fans will clear all odor out in an hour or so... I'm really hoping a high CFM installed in the basement will do something similar, I'm just not sure... Thats a big gamble if it doesnt work
They make window inserts with adjustable panels. It would be easier than cutting holes in siding and exterior walls.

Thanks, Ive thought about doing this or simply sticking another carbon filter and fan at my exhaust vent. All odor escapes there. I could also scrub the whole room as you mention, both would probably work.

Opening my metal cabinet isn't a huge problem as I'm growing low odor strains. The odor from opening the doors is noticeable, but clears up in an hour or two... I've been able to move my entire plant late flower into my living room (late at night) without anyone noticing... Yes, I light a stick of Cactus incense it smells almost exactly like Northern Lights !

I've decided the best option after listening to many here is to get some air flow venting out of my grow room... To the outdoors. This will take some effort but will be a permanent solution...This will save money on carbon filters as well, the good ones aren't cheap ! (I'd love to stick with just one filter)

If this all works well, maybe I can grow the strains I really want to grow, OG Kush or GSC (two of my favorites). !!! Growing low odor strains really narrows your choices down .. Side note: I am not complaing, I am a huge fan of everything about Northern Lights.....

I'm in a basement one story below ground. No windows. I'd have to vent up one story and open a new vent next to my dryer vent..

Its a shame I cant use the dryer vent, its right above my cabinet... (My Dryer exhausts outdoor right above my cabinet)
