great show you got go'in mp. got a few q's for you about your water-cooled sealed room since i'm in a situation where a set-up like yours will be the solution for me. hope you don't mind.
Thanks for the kind words 420Blunts :) i dont mind questions at all, if someone can learn one thing from my posts (even if its what NOT to do lol) than its all worth it.
how do you keep the outer room of your sealed room cool with your 2k ballast & 1 hp out there ?
Well, i actually dont have to worry about the outter room heating up. It gets to maybe 80-82 max where the chiller is. I just crack a window (the grow is in the basement) also my lights turn on at night. so even if it was 90 degrees during the day, the night temps around here are in the mid 50's. so a cracked window actually does alot with those temps ;) im just lucky tho, Its not a problem, but definetly something to consider when building a new room is where the heat will go (its gotta go somewhere)
whats the exact make and model pump you are using with the chiller ?
oh umm, honestly last time i looked was when i set it up. but its just one of those ECO or whatever my hydro store sells, its the max GPH that the chiller manual recommended. however if I were to get a new pump I would get one of those cast iron pumps from watercooledgardens.com they are pricey but will probably last forever! you don't want your chiller pump to fail! that could be horrible (although i read that new JBJ chillers have a flow sensor and will shut off if water flow stops! now that's cool!! because they will never freeze themselves and destroy themselves either, cool new feature)
you think one 6" 449 cfm vortex blower with a 6 to 8 reducer be okay for one 8" icebox ?
I use a one 440 for TWO 1k lights ducted together and ONE 6" Icebox. i may be wroung but i believe I've read that the 8" Icebox has like twice the surface area, which means its cooling capacity is greatly enhanced over the 6". eventually ill make the upgrades to 8" :)
did you use the red and blue hose hydro innovation sells ?
Sure didn't, although that tubing (basically just heavy duty tubing) doesn't kink or anything like that. I use mostly PVC and hardly any tubing and my tubing and pvc is wrapped in insulation aswell.
with proper installation, do you think i can maintain temps at 75F-77F with these equipment in a sealed room
1 - 1000 hps
2 - 600 hps
2 - 40 pint dehuey = 250 watts each
propane electronic co2 gen (non hydrogen)
4 - 8" icebox
1 - 1hp jbj artica
thanks ahead for your help and any tips.
ps. sorry for all the q's
The 1hp jbj chiller can cool 12,000BTU/hr and 1,000watts is about 3,500btu/hr
1,000+1,200+500= 2,700watts
2.7 x 3500= 9450 BTU
leaving your chiller and extra 2550BTU/hr of cooling capacity. honestly tho your dehumidifiers wont be on 24/7 so even more cooling is left from the chiller. so even though you burn CO2 you should be fine. It's a little close, but this is the math i based my set up off of.
not sure how you're setting up your lights or room but with 4 8" IB you should be fine, im guessing one is for room A/C? and each light gets one? you could probably get away with the 2 600's on one IB together. hell, I use one 6" for 2,000watts of lights i bet if you wanted to you could duct all your lights together, maybe a bigger fan if you do that tho. unless you already bought all your stuff? in which case i think you'd be fine, but i bet you might beable to get away with less equipment if you had time to experiment.
with a sealed room you can keep slightly high temps than normal too because of the CO2. i let my room max out at 81.5F I've seen people run a room with CO2 at like 88F, thats warmer than I would like but i've seen it done with good results.
I hope I helped :)
as for my update, no pics right now. things are hanging and drying been real busy with work and the harvest and just the regular work that needs to be done for the grow. adding trimming to the list of stuff makes my days seem real long lol. but totally worth it. I take some curing shots when they are in their jars. the nuggs looks great :) im very happy and harvest looks like it'll be a nice size. ill know more later though :)
Thanks for stopping by!
