There was a solar eclipse 96-97 ish, it must not of been a total eclipse but they cancelled school and work and people stayed home with families and prayed all day...trippy
lots of planetary stuff, blood moons, stars aligning, 100% lunar and solar eclipes this year. I'm not sure about full eclipses and 96 97 eclipse. I read that most Full eclipse happen over the ocean. And I do remember looking at the eclipses thru welding goggles.
But I guess this one will make it go dark for bout 10-15 minutes, street lights might come on, temps drop approx 10` and animals will freak out, stampedes, so I dont remember any of that happening. I think most 100% eclipse are small and this one will be bigger in the area of earth that it covers and this one is massive. This eclipse happens once every 100 yrs but this one is the biggest with Lunar eclipse and biblical stuff in many religion going on, especially with the Jews. The Jewish religion has names for this event. crazy religious shit is about to happen.

nice and you chose that from seed knowing it would be a fat leafed plant?
View attachment 680215 Cavemandica from seed, hopefully a male for my nephew to chuck...
That looks freakN like what I'm looking for!! !! !! This breeding project is going well but over whelming to get started. I got some growers, now turned breeder that I've worked with. They have some hot fat leaf genetics. One of your crew, Epitome might bring in some more genetics, some of your crew might/maybe even use some space at one of our denver or other farms.
One master grower from s.e colo and crew from san luis valley colo are breeding in genetics to the fat leaf breeding project.
So no my side I'm may not have that many plants but its a pain cuz of males I need to keep all this separated.

+ not mentioned above;
bubbagift - experimental cut
@MandyJane Sativa - This might be a cross. The plant is stacking trichs like a mo fo..
Katsu Cut - I like this one! One of my breeding standards for this project.
And Epitome's cavemadica plant #1 - this plant is intriging to say the least. front stage.
Epitome's cavemadica plant #2- from seed
epitome's Bubba pre 98 - cut
ECD - cut and will see. She is getting weak.

@BigBeeBud your work and skills are needed .

almost ready to start the Fat Leaf project, set backs, set backs,, 2 tents ripped, warranty tho.

I took this one back and got a new one.
Tent1

I found a tear before this one got set up.
Tent2

Flex Seal tape or spray the tear after you sow it. Sturdy as a tire after that.

Cavemandica wont turn dark grn. It's the most lime color plant I've worked with since a sativa from France that I lost. Cavemandica like to be left alone in colder outside temps in sun, She'll take full sun and I she doesnt mind mild shade. She doesnt like wet heavy pots. Cavemandica will turn down Nutes and not drink em.
2, 1 gal pots are reported to be Bubba pre 98
Cave3some

The Cavemandica walked into the farm from a long hard journey with some bio stagnant soil, a mix of coco, soil, and composting. Had the soil been wet and bio active this might have not been good. The soil was cured on plastic and that really helped the seedling in harsh traveling conditions. Cavemandica camped out in a trunk of a car for almost 2 days but Once I hit with lite and Bt's and mycro's the soil blew up, Nice!

Right the fuck on bro! Those pre-98 bubbas are supposedly Og Kush x Dj shorts blueberry but i have my doubts...the leaves should start getting wider and ripply and its a mild vigor in veg but im in the process of getting back the bubba pheno that i believe built the hype in early 2000'$ and which i familiarized myself with in 05'-06'....

Exciting fucking project...might want a blackberry in their and possibly a stardawg wide leaf pheno which i got from @greenpoint seeds and has been IBL'd to the fourth generation, but im not sure if i have the nomenclature correct.

@lino which seedling was the wide leafer that had wider leaf then it is long? Thats an interesting trait right there eh?

Im not sure if anyone has went out on a limb and guessed bubbas true background but i am 100% in that the pheno i loved that Eye believe built the bubba kush rep is an Og kush X Bubblegum...which bubblegum i have no clue but this pheno is still around and is the pheno that has set the standard in my neck of the woods...which is making its way back to the southwest so im excited to put this contreversy back on the chopping block because if it can be dialed in i beleive its just as holy grail as a plant can be...

there going to be room. I'm dont like to go over on my #'s. But it turns out that a trusted grower gone breeder is going to take some of the breeding females so I will have more room and my other trusted breeder will be hosting a male tent.
Here one coming together that will have room for cpl more Cavecrew genes if your out of plant count room on any of your farms.. It big 8' tent so this will prob be a female room.

Ill get with one of my nephews to send something phat your way, im really digging deep for anything maple leaf wilson...ihavent confirmed it yet but sounds like the wright tree to bark up...

I getting almost all females, crap! I have a big FAT NL#1 , She turned Female. :crying2:

@MandyJane hit 2 males and she got almost all females from my genetics also, but the 2 males were showing to much Tahoe for this project. I like Tahoe, dont get me wrong, but its not the male I'm looking for with this project.

My genetics this year produced 4 males and almost all the plants are showing on the first round.
8 plant garden
7 plant garden
19 plant garden

There are 2 plants not showing and One of them is FAT Leaf stinky ECD. We'll see.:sweating:

Yes, that Maple snds like a cross that will have some ol skool lines. Maybe a Maple x NL#1.
I dont have any maple leaf or duckfoot varieties. Grew some ducksfoot before and It had lots of skunk smell...

absoulutely, I'm thinking NL is somewhere in the maple leaf Wilson pedigree...I have a few different NL seed from Co, growers but what I grew out from them does not fit the description or what I imagine Northern lights to be, my lungs don't recognize any of the phenos and I have not encountered not one male in any of them so I probably have fems of a fake NL.

I checked my seeds last year when I planted (I read about this too). I chose only fat round seeds that have a nice round base (like the guy in the video says). Still got males.
Hey, Lino . . .
I've heard you mention something about trics on males. My new male/dad grows regular stalked trics on his leaves, which is why I kept him (besides the fact that he is perfect in every way). They first showed up when he was a seedling. He isn't covered like a female but there's plenty of them. You can pick any leaf and easily see quite a few with naked eye. He's got hella strong smell and his flowers are purple too. Stressed him on purpose and no herm problems.
Can I safely assume he's a keeper? I pollinated several of my best ladies last year and will grow the seeds out this year.
Do you have any info on this?
:D

Bubba Kush is my focus in one direction. All facts and opinions are VERY WELCOME !
Short to mid size stinky FAT leaf will be the standard.
Katsu Cut will be a focus for stability and uniformity.
ECD, very fond of my ECD but its a dispense cut and I know PM is in it even tho it hasnt surface on the plant in over a yr.
Greenpoint, I saw a thread of all the latest greatest genes that guy bred< i think with 1 male if I remember. It was a cannabis cup line up. All wide leaf are welcome,
I'm not prejudiced, sativa Females are welcome also.
cannabis science names were all fucked up. They just now kinda got rite. Breeder and users got the cannabis cultivar names and the scientist dont get it and dont like it either. To give the scientist some credit, they get frustrated at the pedigree confusion. Your caveCrew, epitome is a pedigree ninja.

Thats what the science would suggest. Maybe 10% - 20% will have absolute sex predetermined IN CANNABIS.

I have an opinion to your question on MALE SELECTION.. the ol saying;
No smell , No sell - I like stinky males!
lots of sticky resin glands , yup, prob the 2 first, and most important traits.

I have few question for you Madam, pun -, lol
strain name?
sativa or indy? how fat are your leaves, ? how tall is she.? Pics?

Granddaddy Purple - indica - regular leaves for an indica - wide but I don't think wide enough for your project.
I keep my moms & dads bonsai (about 6-8") but he was nice and bushy - about 3' tall when I took a cutting for my bonsai dad.
Geez, really good males are hard to come by. Been growing for years and he's only the 2nd really exceptional male I've found.
He sprouted with purple on his first leaves and trics showed up soon after. He turned green after putting him in the greenhouse and stays green in veg. I don't let my males go full season like the girls so I don't know how dark he'll get.
The flowers come out tipped in purple and get darker as they grow. Shortest node spacing I've seen in a male, stays very bushy like a female. Very dense flower clusters too and drops tons of pollen - most GDP males are pretty sparse in the flower dept. Stinks big time even in veg - you don't even have to rub a stem, just walking by you can smell him.
Couple pics when he was in his 1 gal. pot. I don't have any good pics of him - just these when he was young:

Hats off to the CaveMan4.20 crew, @epitome . One thing is certain, the plants are DOM in the garden for vigor! Lite Grn Dom or Rec. This plant might help dial in my Incredible Hulk cultivar to a strain, maybe, I'll have to wait and see her bud. Think I got male on that 1st plant. I'm not positive yet.

///////////////////////////////

@MamaBear , question; have you bred that strain, Granddaddy Purple, Male or Female? If so what color of bud did you breed it to?
I ask cuz,
That male has a lite grn look. I have strains that throw's grn and purp flowers on F1s only that had made my Incredible Hulk CV and the PurpaLinos that was made from a cross of a father that looked like that male. The cops lost the label on the seeds. so I have 1000's of possibilities in finding the seed. BUT IF I run into the plants while testing my seeds I will have all my F1's grn & purps CV and strains identified.
IDK if this helps what I'm asking??
14_03PurpleWhiteFlowers.jpg

footnote: Purp is very often Dom color. Some traits will attach/follow Purp sometimes.

Footnote: Ive heard from some breeders comment that they think that some Strains of Granddaddy Purple are True Breeding stock. With all that said,
Does that male have purp or grn colors when it buds. ? And I think you said it has some purp.

footnote: My observation and IMO, not data to back this either. Not invincible to pm but Ive noticed Some Purp strains will resit mildew better and be the last to show signs od pm.

I will PM you with more question soon. I will powder mildew or personal message you? lol

btw very nice looking male .

I have inbred GDP and will grow F4's this year. Most have some purple, usually kicks in during flower. However, this male is from a new breeder pack I grew last year. Not sure how stable he is or who his daddy is. I've heard they (GDP) open pollinate with several males so your guess is good as mine. Crossed him with several girls and will grow those seeds this year to test him. He's lighter green in veg but gets very dark green with purple stems.

some Strains of Granddaddy Purple are True Breeding stock
Sounds about right. I've crossed my GDP (skunky pheno) with lots of other strains and they still come out pretty much GDP. I mean, she's got some pretty strong genes that trumps just about anything you cross her with.

Purp is very often Dom color. Some traits will attach/follow Purp sometimes.
I agree. Although having DOM Purple doesn't always mean you'll get purple. I mean the amount of purple varies from plant to plant. Some are deep purple and some light purple or just hints of purple. Breeding for anthocyanin is easy but you really want to breed for LOTS of anthocyanin. The levels that turn the plant purple WITHOUT cooler temps.

Some Purp strains will resit mildew better and be the last to show signs od pm.
I've grown so many purple strains and never a problem with PM. May be due to our low humidity though. I had 1 Ultimate Purple last year that got a little PM very late in flower (I let her go a little too long and her buds were huge and thick). GDP buds tend to be smaller and a little less dense.
I will say that spider mites LOVE GDP (sucks). I've seem them pass every other plant in the greenhouse to get to GDP. Them mites know what's up! They go for the good stuff!! I find GDP to be pretty tough though and she don't mind a few bugs. My Granddaddy Blue F3 (GDPxBlueberry) is great for this as the mites don't like her at all.
