Sky, Dave and I are friends with a German couple this happened to. We met them through a coworker of his when he put us together to buy their organically raised pastured beef. We were doing great for a while there, but we're pretty sure the Mrs has fallen in love with *all* of her beef cattle, because they're not slaughtering anymore steers. Fortunately, they have over 500 acres, so they've got a little room to store 'em.
I like Having cats because, I hate having mice and squirrels

But I just caugt them out there playing with this rodent..

Poor thing probably wont live because they cant handle stress....
I could medicate him to help him relax
You've channeled Hellboy! You don't know who he was, but he was an odd duck who was just a good guy.

That's how Frances and Roland got started! It began as a hobby, but it ends as a hobby. We love taking our granddaughter to their place because every time we go, they have new animals. I'm not one for miniature horses (for one thing, come on, they're fucking PONIES, and nasty-tempered ones at that), but they had these little burros, an equine I've never spent any time interacting with and there was this one little jenny who had a thing for me, she was so sweet and so cayute! I almost wanted to take her home.

Then, I remembered all the work that goes into keeping any equine, and put that thought outta my head right away.

I can do a dairy cow. I can totally kill the calf. My poor good friend always looks at me aghast when I say that, but it's the truth.

What you describe, though...? It's why I had to get a job in the aquatic ornamental trade--to pay for my habit.

We are dreamin' up all sorts of ideas.... LOL. It's been a wild couple of weeks. >>Pretty sure<<< we're on the brink of buying a farm.... unless that is, our due diligence turns up tens of thousands of dollars of unknowns. As always happens, >everything< is costing out more than you'd think it would, but we're also asking folks to provide bids that are based upon the worst case scenario they could imagine. That way, we will hopefully cover all the bases... um...yeah...right. It's always somethin;...and I'm betting that with land involved that will only intensify. Fortunately...as I've told CM, we've been frugal and have invested wisely over the years and whatever "farm" we buy won't be connected to our liveilihood./survival/income. If we can make some $$$ off the land

Either way.... as I told one of the people I talked to about doing some digging when he asked what we were gona be doing... "We'll be the folks people are talking/laughing at who don't know what they are doing and look like total city-folk noobs".

snicker.....

Came from city to country with no idea what we would do.
Wife got a part time well paying job as an nurse, 35 years experience, she soon became director and worked full time.
I stayed home and started with 15 chickens, got involved with a local old farmer who taught me meat chickens. I soon researched feeds and got a grinder mixer and started producing gmo free feeds organic as possible.
Long story short, wife retired, built up barns, meat chicken processing plant, got around thousand hens laying, dairy and meat goats, holy shit we got it going.
It takes time to figure it out, everything for us pretty much fell into place.
Hard work at first till you get used to it and streamline you efforts, way better than the mad house over the hill for sure...

I've never eaten or fished perch. Are they tasty, and fun to catch? They look like a fat tiger barb, like they might be fun to keep in an aquarium, too. How do you fix 'em up?

Yessir! The best fish to eat my friend. Perch and walleye. Fillet them up. Mixup some Drakes batter mix with Budweiser or the beer of your choice. Dip n fry! Squirt of lemon or malt vineger and BOOM! Best fried fish ever! Lol, my fav for sure! Peace.
