Yes. It's long because it's searching for light

For future reference, as soon as it breaks the surface it requires light. For now, fill your cup to support that stem while your roots develop. For a couple of days, give the cotyledons a chance to shed the shell. If it doesn't happen help it out by moistening the shell and gently pry if off with a straight pin. Do not attempt to remove until you've braced the stem.
Good luck.

Yes and BTW you planted that too shallow as the cap is still on it,next time go a bit deeper and it will come off through the abrasion of the dirt,it still thinks its under the ground

Thanks. That has been a big question I never could seem to find - when to transition. I had started out doing seed in papertowl but never knew at what point to transition.
I buried it about an inch. About how much deeper?

Theres a fine line but I would think an inch would do it,I go about 1/2 inch, maybe you just had a stubborn one and I assumed ,sorry if thats the case. I do it depending on the length of the tail and about 1/2 inch over the cap.

Keep that helmet moist so it can fall off. Add some soil to that cup, and yes get it under a light. A t5 florescent is fine.

Not what I would use. A small shop light from Walmart with a fluorescent bulb in it is sufficient. That light you are looking at on Amazon won’t be sufficient to vegetate and flower a Cannabis plant. Just get a cheap light for that seedling at Walmart, Lowes, or some other place that sells shop type fluorescent lights.

That’s a good light. But overkill for what is needed at the moment. You could use it now though but make sure it’s about 36” away. You have any sort of light meter?

You have a phone? There is an app for android or iPhone. It’s called Photone. You only want about 100 - 150 ppfd on that seedling right now.

i did the app on of red/blue since that light states that is what it is. added the diy diffuser and it was like 300+. dropped it to about 140. thanks for that info.

curious, what would 300 do? may be why i killed a few seedlings?

Seedling/clone 150 ppfd
Early veg 300 ppfd
Late veg 400-600 ppfd max
Flower 600-800ppfd max

You increase the intensity slowly as the plant transitions from one growth phase to the next. For example don’t one day decide your plant is early veg and jump from 150 to 300 ppfd. You do this slowly over the course of days. Read the plant. You want the leaves flat. Not praying excessively or bending away. They are at their happiest when presenting like flat solar panels.

You can grow healthy plants under a floro, I bought 6-4 bankers used shoplights for around $20 each. They are not harsh and until flowering they work well and don't burn much electricity
