You mean with "youngins" cuttings from your plants, right? I ask, because I don't know this word...

If it is so, how many PPFD you use than? Because I actually have five different cuttings of strains in my small tent. I give them 18/6 light. But one of them let hanging the upper leaves in the last hours of light phase.
PPFD is only about 450-500.
Youngins. Slang for young children usually lol yes cutting and newly germed seeds. I honestly do my plants that size under an led grow light bulb that’s like thirty watts lol could be better ways but I built a small box so the light is very close. Anything stronger I think would burn them. But since I’ve started doing this I’ve had much better results.

I personally think it’s the hardest part of growing is the seedling stage.

Thanks for your answer, closettrapper217...

Ok, youngins...nice slang, I will remember that.😉

Yes, just grow the second time, my first grow was very great and succesfull. I got the cuttings from a ten year old mother with good genetics from an friend. My actually grow is more difficult...meanwhile I bought another, smaller tent for grow up seedings and cuttings. There I can see how different the various strains are. Some like since begining very much light, some are more sensitive.

During the initial and early growth stages I think 24 hour light is great. Mine explode. they get shaded sun in the day and lights all night. But if I don't back off after a month they start getting wonky. My lighting schedule works something like this, and it's important to note I do hybrid growing with both sun and LED.

First 4 weeks - 24 hours in clone box
Next 4 weeks - 24 hours, shaded sun and LED (mixed)
Next 4 weeks - 20/4 mixed
Next 4 weeks - 18/6 mixed

Flip 12/12. Through the winter I supplement with LED so they get a full 12 hour day. They wake up to natural light and the light goes off at a set time that I adjust each week longer or shorter, right now shorter. When we reach the Equinox the flowering plants no longer get supplemental light. I don't know how others grow through the winter (maybe just popping photo seeds?) but I do it by maintaining different light schedules for each stage of growth.

Edit: Damn I can't say that right. I keep a consistent light schedule even outdoors in the winter for my flowering plants, and I use a variable light schedule depending on growth stage.

What I would love to know (been asking since 1994), is there a true benefit of "rest" on a 18/6 or even a 20/4 veg schedule vs. 24/0? Haven't found the holy grail of an answer to that, yet. Like, I need a scientific answer!
My thinking is that more than 16 to 18 hours of light is a poor use of electricity in most circumstances. (I use 18 hours.) That doesn't mean there are no good reasons to use more light -- and genetics do vary. So, I'm not saying never to do so. However, cannabis plants do not rest during the dark. That's a common misunderstanding. They store sugars in their roots during the day and use them to grow during the night. Sometimes, the night growth is sufficiently observable to demonstrate that they weren't resting. Their metabolic processes do change, though. There's no photosynthesis in the dark, which is why they store food in the roots. Root health doesn't receive enough attention.

I love this! Very well put, logical, and it's so true that root health doesn't receive enough attention. I see you 👀

To add to this most excellent explanation.....Roots do most of their growing during the dark hours.

I need some advice please, I’m starting flower phase with 3 , 300watt , 28 inches above canopy and the tips of the top leaves are turning brown. Should I raise the LED’s higher? If so, what hight should I adjust too?

Without a pic can't be sure but it sounds like a slight N burn.

I need to see that without the blurred light.
"N" burn is caused by to much Nitrogen, your Veg nutrients, if you are bottle feeding. If you are organically growing your soil is to hot with Nitrogen.

Are you feeding with bottle nutrients or organic?
I sprayed the leaves about 4 days ago with a little miracle grow, I think that’s what burned the leave tips. Otherwise I don’t used anything except pure well water.

One last question, what should I feed them in the flower stage?
