you are correct.. i really don't care about what others think, i'm just casually trynna ruffle some old school feathers who think all of the best weed on the planet died in the 60's and 70's lol (greatest lie ever told) (debunked myth).. Thanks again for helping me set the record straight for future generations to come. lol

oh i do think some of the very best that's ever grown under the sun is gone and unlikely to ever be seen again. there's too much time between the 80's and today. tolerance built up, knowledge and experience of other strains makes a difference. the majority of weed i had in the 80's was good to really good quality, but far from legendary. every so often i would get something extraordinary. ty stick or panama red or no name from india, hawaii afghanistan... i can see that side of the argument. i still consider the dark green bud with gold hairs that came from jamaica in 87 or 88 to be the over all best i've ever had. but i can't do a pepsi challenge with it so i don't know. maybe if i'd been smoking higher quality like an real deal og kush instead of compressed mexican before landing the jamaican that would have changed my perspective. but maybe it would further solidify it as the best. i don't know.
it's a little like saying bruce lee would rule in the octagon if he had been born 25 or 30 years later. well maybe he would, but maybe he'd get submitted by every guy with a better ground game and wouldn't make it into the top 10. i don't know.

i'm sorry it's just that i've witnessed too much evolution in life to think any differently when it comes to pot. Just because my tolerance may have increased, doesn't mean the strains didn't get stronger over time,, i think it would be foolish of me to think otherwise..

being a minister of dudeism i have to say, well, that's like just your opinion man.
i can't say you're wrong, but in my experience i've yet to come across anything that's had the overall effect that some of the gems from my teens and early twenties had on me.

once again,, logic,,, Maybe your tolerance wasn't as high as it is now after years of smoking high quality pot.. i remember my first smoke at age 19 in the 90's,, some straight up mexican brick weed had me spaced out and my mind,,, heart beating out of my chest…laughing at everything for hours,, some shit that i can't even get high off of these days.. smoked like a gem back then also.. i can't say i've ever been that high since that those days either… tolerance my friend ,,, makes all the sense in the world does it not?

By this logic, I would agree with you - the weed I was smoking in my teens and early twneties had magical effects...but that was still only a few years ago. And I know I wasn't smoking anything near as nice as what I'm smoking now.

There's no way weed's gotten worse over the years...breeders breed good qualities to other good qualities, how does that make crappier weed? If anything there's so much diversity and so much incredibly fire genetics out there that it's all wash now, nothing particularly stands out because we've bred it to a higher standard that has yet to be topped.

If all the apples that we had where McIntosh, the gene pool would be very small, and the Apple Tree would be in danger of extinction.

Cannabis is the same way... Genetic material must be preserved with land races.

Phenotypes are much less diverse in genetic material.

OK OK.. Now i get it,, i totally understand why you guys feel the way you do, because you live where there are dispensaries… well let me finally agree with you on that note…. i would often read many post online about the lack of love and the quality of flowers in plenty of dispensaries. but in my mind i would always blame it on the tolerance of the people who lived close the them… i'm from the east coast where there are no dispensaries at all… in fact,, i've never been to a dispensary in my life until this year, 4-20-2016. it was my first pilgrimage to colorado. First stop,,(denver).. When i tell you that i enjoyed absolutely nothing in those shops,, i kidd you not. I visited about 7 dispensaries throughout that day and ordered an 8th of practically everything strain that i was familiar with.. what i purchased didn't look, taste, smell, and smoke anything like the real deal versions of the smoke i knew and loved… i swear to you,, i was so heartbroken to have traveled that far to be smoking on what i was smoking on… seriously,, (what a let down)!!! it wasn't until the next day when i drove to colorado springs did i find a few unfamiliar strains that smoked sort of respectable at a couple of there weed lounges… but at the end of my trip i had a new found respect for the strains and growers we have back where i'm from… i actually feel bad for you guys who only have access to those types of dispensaries.. it's like they just attach a well known name to any strain to make it sell faster. anticipating the influx of out of town tourist who more than likely wouldn't be able to tell the difference from a fake, because they never had the original versions of certain strains… smh!!!!!

not to bragg but,,i must be blessed,, because all i ever smoke on is freshly cured, sticky, well flushed flowers, and for that,, i am eternally grateful...

Fresh cut flowers dried in the jerkey maker on the lowest temp for a few days vapes just as goot as properly cured imo, it is even stinkier if you dry it to crumble dry. I wouldnt know about smoking it, every time I smoke it just tastes like a dirty sock no matter what kind it is.

Didn't read through all this, but the strains haven't "gotten magically stronger", there were Always Strong strains, Usually Indian Hemp/Indica which is what All these "stronger" strains are bred with. And even pure landrace Sativas were strong. But it's just because there so much new heirloom breeds out there that are All strong instead of Just average shitty grown Commercial bud. The same strain can be Two Completely different products in the end if one is Pure Organic harvested at Peak performance, and one that's Shitty Commerical Synthetic nutes and pesticides and harvested Much earlier.

Cultivation is an Art, and it's the Artist who have gotten Stronger and more Potent, Not the Bud that has Always been Just As Potent.

Or maybe it's the fact that we smoke dank everyday all day and back in the day dank was few and far between and everyone and there momma wasn't growing weed on every corner.. Try smoking a joint after a 30 day health break and I promise you will have a head rush and do the "electric fish" on the ground. So in short the answer is : we smoke dank and dab all day enough to drop a horse and expect to get as high as when we were teenagers. I call it tolerance.

i feel you on the whole (cultivation is an art) philosophy,, but you are not considering the experienced gardener who grows with love, and careful consideration, who cultivates a new found seed that turned out to become not as potent or desirable as the other strains in his or her stable due to it's natural genetic make up.. You are mistaken if you think there is no such thing as weak genetics… we'll just have to agree to disagree on that notion...

No Definitely agreeing there's weak strains that's what Common Hemp is. But I'm saying the potency was always there just more of it now, instead of Just in the Hindu Kush Valkey
