Hi Thc

(update i found a cool grow journal on another site by a guy called Napalm which give me some direction and think i might try to replicate
so kit so far is
from Horticulture LIghting Group
8 x QB288 at $661
4 x slate double heatsinks or 2 x quad ( is there any benifit from mounting on quad over double besides needing more hangers?) out of stock :(
from Cutter Electronics
Wago pin Termination Connectors ( how many pin and how many units?)
1/8'' Adjustable Rope Hangers x (4 or 2) $9.00 each
from Mouser
2 x meanwell hlg 320 280a $127 each
I think I covered it bar a dimmer switch? any advice there, also I am a little scared on ordering the setup incase i am unable to source heatsinks. What are your thoughts? I am worried if I wait for heatsinks the boards will go out of stock.
I do apologize on being a massive punish but before i use my hard earned wanted you to have a look over it for me.
Thx again THC

yes under the table.but that table has 5 feet clearance so plenty of room to move around on rolling stool and it doubles my veg area

well you need to email hlg with this list because i believe they have everything on it except maybe the drivers and the wagos.but i could be wrong on that, they might have everything. if it was me i would use singles or doubles on the heatsinks to save weight.the quads are heavy if you dont need all 4 locations for boards

you should get the new qb 132 that is just about to come out for veg lights.they are 36v boards so fit the same drivers as the cree 3590 and citi1212 cobs or you can use qb96 or qb 120. use 20-30watts per sq ft for veg is pleny of light.as for he wagos i don care much for he 2x wago, the 3x and 5x have more options for expanding/adding to he sytem

but you dont need wagos to connect boards in series because they come with built in wire connections

Me again six I have emailed HLG and they advised me to contact my local supplier which i have with no avail
The problem I have is I can order the 8 boards with international shipping but will need to source heatsinks/drivers etc elsewhere.
Because I am a new to this I am afraid I will not be able to source the heatsinks locally and be stuck with $800 worth of boards I cannot use.
Thinking I am better off buying locally through cutter and settling for a mau5 kit but would of much preferred the qb option I think.
How many cobs would I need to cover the same area as 8 qb 288 roughly? Was i correct in saying 8 qb288 would cover 24sqm? Fro what I understand 3 cobs equal 1 qb288?
Also if I am best to go cob do i get the vero or the cree kits?
Sorry again to bother you but its doing my head in.

have you looked on amazon for the hlg kits yet? if you go the cutter route then yes get the vero29 kits.i good rule of thumb is 1 cob per sq foot at 50w per cob or less.if you get kits that run cobs higher like 62w or 75w then you can space them further apart like 18inches on center.

they are ac in/out and also dimmer in.ill get a good pic of one for ya,pretty fuckin sweet.but the basic concept is they do all your on/off duties as well as dimming, you can set scenes and group light colors on each controller as well as sunrise sunset features.each controller can handle 1000w but im going to keep mine around 850w or less, they are cheap enough to just use an extra controller instead of pushing them to max loads.like less than 30.00 per controller i think.not sure on the actual prices because he gave me a sweetheart deal on the gateway and 5 controllers.but the gateway can handle 500 control modules,or maybe its 1000 i cant remember now lol.ill never use more than 20 or 30 tops haha.

You really don't fuck around, do you?

I could use 2 of those 5 cob bars and a HLG 480 driver

Holy shitballzi knew i was contacting the right guy for advice but WOW.
Six i did check Amazon thats where I can get the 8x qb288 for $599 prob is i cant find the heatsinks to suit so think ill cob it although qbs looks to be the better option ,so I looked at Cutter and was thinking this

Vero29 SE-X D Grow Kit
Vero 29 D Voltage Bin,SE Grow Light, kit of 10 Vero 29 SE, includes all components for a complete ki...
Price: 799.95 (879.95 Inc. Tax) is that my best option or am i better to put parts together myself? Not sure if i need lenses etc. Also is there any adv if i upgrade the heatsinks to the larger square ones?
I would like to run them in rows like your 5 cobs with 5 per row with total 20 cob .(will these drivers work with this?)It states that it runs cobs at 23 watts each i was under the impression i needed to run them at 37 watt to get my 50w per sq ft ?
And do these kits include dimmers? If not what do i need?
Thx again six
Appreciate having some 1 to help without you im lost

@cobpanda refresh my memory on the size of the space your trying to light up and how tall the ceiling is and how big you plan to grow the plants

I bet it has something to do with that driver. It's driving those chips too soft. They're 2100ma/2.1 amps max so you'd need a 1050ma/1.05 amp driver to run them at their most efficient, if I haven't read something wrong. Looks like the driver with the kit is 700ma/.7 amps.
