Thanks House I'm lookin forward to it.
Fatawa I've got $800 in invested
Thanks Six String it's been a lot of fun doin this project. I whish I knew more about how much light there is available to the plants and if driving the COBs at a higher amperage would be of benefit. There are COBs that run 75 volts @ 3.4 A but there is a point of diminishing returns and Growmau5's explanation of how much light is too much was over my head.

there is a point of diminishing returns

This is exactly what I'm mentally wrestling with... My system is exactly like yours except I'm running another 6 COBs in a 4x8 tent. I would love to make strategic changes without wasting a ton of money on equipment and energy costs. My last run is going to come in at roughly 2 pounds from 6 plants(I'll know the exact figure next week)... can I up that number by simply adding/enhancing the lighting ... I don't know...

I suppose I could watch his video on how much light is the max amount you need. I may have to watch it 20 times (I'm a slow learner) . 18 lights at 50 watts = 900 watts 2 lbs is 907 grams so just over 1 gram per watt that's pretty good!

yeah, I'm pretty happy with the 1g/watt, thanks. I'm very curious about the final numbers, I have the one white widow in one drying tent that I'll do a final trim/into jar tonight. I have the 3 blueberries in the bloom tent drying that may need an extra day or two. The blueberry buds were super heavy and dense when I hung them on Saturday.

Can a driver use six chips? So what's the power of 6 cob?
Here's an example of 2 drivers below.
One has a higher DC output voltage, but lower 1.4A current.
You can run more COBs, but at a reduced current.
If you bump it up to the HLG-480 series (Output Voltage (DC) :171-343V @1.4A)
then you can have 5-9 COBs on a circuit

HLG-320H-C1400B DRIVER:
Output Voltage (DC) :
114-229V (4-6 X 36V COBs )
Max Output Current :
1400mA

HLG-320H-C2100B DRIVER
Output Voltage (DC) :
76-152V (~2-4 X 36V COBs )
Max Output Current :
2100mA

I'm going to redo my light in a couple weeks, adding a 4th 50watt COB because I have some overhead left in the Driver for 200 watts (4x 36v [email protected])

Next phase is to swap out the 1.4a driver for a 2.1a driver, getting 302w from the same setup, and moving the old driver to a new 2- cob ,(70 [email protected] ) light, getting 200 watts output also.

If I want to make a 400w cob, what materials do I need to buy and what cob chip is good for 0
"and what cob chip is good for 0" i dont understand this part of your question
some kit options to get to 400w ,two of these.
or 1 of these
or just get this http://timbergrowlights.com/model-4vs/
or 2 of these

or you can source all the parts here based on any of those kits and make it yourself

Six do you use leds in veg also?
One of these days I will have to get educated on the leds. Looks like a lot to learn. Not like I won't have time in the near futcher lol. Looks like a good winter project for me.

still using 90% t5 in veg,i do have a vero fixture in veg that kicks ass @ 100w but i havent had time to build more fixtures.
