I was trying to get a feel for his weight per plant, as root size was the variable I was trying to control for.

Anyhow sfzoo, you went with 1 gallon as opposed to 2 gallon your first run - what size are you going with for your second run?

GGOOOOTCHHHAAA, cool, it looks like you could fit five gallon pots in there with the spacing there at now ya know? just have em all right next to each other, or do that with 2 gals like you said and up the plant count by getting em closer. probably help the yield tremendously just more medium you would have to buy ya know, and the more medium the better.

like bobby said, and even yourself earlier with the 7g nug, root mass is key to yield.

congrats again on the harvest.

this stadium thing is fuckin sick dude. congrats on the healthy harvest, cant wait for the next show bro. awesome. try smartpots... =] i had a friend switch ONLY the pots in a 9 plant per light 8 light setup and pulled 1/3 lbs more per light, just by switching pots. i just transplanted my moms from five gal plastics to 15 gal perfect pots two days ago, cant wait for them to start getting established...

congrats again my friend, thanks for coming through on the journal...

will definitely consider smart pots.. before then, i'll try to dial this room down a bit tighter, then switch pots. I've heard tons of good things about them. But i'd like to get a proper baseline before i make a comparison. In this system, you could easily get 1gpw, probably more with the the right genetics. I was a bit hasty and flipped them a bit too early, as you can see with the little micro plants :icon_dizzy:

Anyhow sfzoo, you went with 1 gallon as opposed to 2 gallon your first run - what size are you going with for your second run?

Any plans to incorporate a screen in there? Would help you "pull" the top rows in closer to the lights.

well, initially, i had 2gal bags...they seemed quite big for how soon i intended to flip. So i returned them for 1gals.
The real question is how much of a time constraint i'm under. With 1gals and little to no veg time I can fit an extra harvest per year(will have to pack the plants in to achieve max weight). However, with longer veg time and few plant count I may be able to up that gpw, but i will lose that extra harvest. So the decision becomes, which path will be more economical? extra veg? extra plants? still working this one out, as i haven't grown this way before. I am leaning towards extra veg with a bit fewer plants.

In practical terms, the 1 gallon growbags were in no way a limiting factor. I had ~3ft CaseyJones with giant cola and the roots weren't even close to rootbound. Mind you, i had about a week of veg only.

I'd love to get a screen in there, but before the chicken there must be an egg...wait, is that...whatever. I'll have to build a drip manifold if the screen is going to be implemented. There would be no way to water through the screen.

Thanks for lookin, dudes! I'll have cuts within the week. Then we'll start crankin it out again!!:icon_spin:

Round 2

Specs:
4kw
Barebulb
Pure canna coco
Full canna coco nutrient line(debating cutting the boost)
1gal growbags

Tweaks:
Moved the shelves closer to the light. Last round i had the shelves quite far apart. This time the shelves overlap about an inch.
Will implement more training to try to max yield. Topping and supercropping. I've not decided how they'll hold up once they get fat. Ideas? Vertical trellise sounds like it'll work well, BUT i'm handwatering. I'll have to figure out a DIY drip manifold...or, if that doesn't happen, i'll have to stake them up again. hmm..
Added sillica blast to the regimen. Hoping this strengthens the stalks to make up for the short veg and lanky nature of the genetics.
Added Roots Excellerator to the regimen.
Added 2nd tent. Not sure if it'll be a veg space or a flower space. Probably flower.
Will add more circulation fans.
Sulpher burner to be purchased soon

Genetics:

-Alien Bubba - Pre98 Bubba X Alien Kush (Alien Tech Pheno male)

..info from Caliconnections website.

As for quality of cuts, most came with fuzzy white goodness. Few were really dried out, the rapid rooters. Few had no roots, although they may have just not broke through the rapid rooters at the time.

Not re-using the coco, just bought new.

The girls have been in fresh coco since Sunday. They are showing some shock, not sure if it was the transplant or the light.

Some individual shots of the girls to come. As well as updates on the moms and clones. Attempting to clone straight in coco

nice fucking update!!! definitely like the additions to the nutrient line.

i as well just started using roots excel and freaking loving the results so far...

and silica blast definitely helps with the natural support when they start packing on the weight,

last run i didnt use silica and had a hell of a time with branches falling over and breaking. this run i used a screen and silica, when i removed the screen the plants still held themselves up fairly well and definitely didnt break any branches.

good luck and keep us updated... i like this style of growing... great potential it seems.

Looking good, Cool labels you made. Hope you kill it this round.

You put those clones with 4k of light directly from transplant?

Thanks jake! i'm excited this round. will be veggin a little larger this round, hope to get the most out of this system.

I hope so too bro!

..if you're talking about the labels on the trays, well...those were from the vendor, lol. but yes, they are snazzy.

No sir, they sat at one end of the stadium with only 1k on. So the light at one end and the trays at the other. 2 days of this. then into coco and fired up a 2nd bulb. still on 2k right now. probably 3k by monday.

Shady turned me on to your drip manifold thread. hope you don't mind a few q's along the way..

i love this grow. i love your choice in genetics. many many many blessings for you on this grow.

Thanks for sharing, happy to help, do not mind any questions. Looking forward to the results!

how was your experience with og genetics? ive been thinking about going through them. i didnt know they had cali connetion if you had good service ill have to give a call.

looking good bro - nice healthy babies going in there

how many days before you flip em?

New setup (shelves) looks like a 1000% improvement - can't wait to see what you can do with it :)

Keep up the good work, homeboy.

thanks for the good karma, dude. :damnhippie:

my experience with them was solid. they are real friendly group who took every call from me with all my countless questions. There's a couple dudes there that sound like they know what they are doing. Time will tell. But as far as my initial interaction/transaction..nothing bud praises from me.

well, they're showing a bit of stress. pics to follow.
my yield suffered last time due to short veg, so i'll wait till these girls get a bit larger. Probably around 10-14 days.

Haven't grown OGs, so i'm not too sure what to expect in terms of stretch, etc.

Thanks man! yeah, its all tweaks and upgrades until this room is dialed. Then! when i get this worked out, there is an identical room right next door that i'd like to get a relay going and double my production.

..baby steps.

=====

You'll notice some pH troubles showing itself in the leaves, started once they were xplanted. Looks like the new growth is sorting itself out.
Also, you'll notice the classic signs of a coco's notorious cation exchange. The yellowing in the new growth along side the necrotic spotting are indicators of a Calcium and Magnesium deficiency.

Same story here. Leaf twist, yellowing from mag def, spotting from cal def, and a little dead girl. Poor little lamb. She will be replaced with Trainwreck. Will probably be adding a few more plants throughout the grow, not much more than a few though.

Double tent action!

Double tent action!! probably adding another in the near future.

Mothers look all lady like, but this wasn't the story for the last few weeks. I really neglected them during the harvest, basically feeding them and not much more. This lead to some severe PM, which i'm still fighting back. Can't wait for the sulfer burner. They also grew well into the lights, burned the tops pretty bad. And, they're hungry..and probably rootbound. Oh boy, they don't like me right now.

So i gave the mommies a bit of a hair cut, actually a lot of a hair cut. They are probably at around 30% of how bushy they used to be..i cut them back a LOT!

Used the cuttings for, yet again, another attempt at cloning. Which i suck at. Have a bit of a side-by-side going on, Rockwook vs. Pure Coco.

Thanks TokeCity! The 2nd tent is non-operational at the moment, updates when we get it going! 2 600w cooltubes to flower! woohoo:eviljam:

That photo set was from 4 days ago. They are a bit recovered, but still showing signs of stress. i'll have an updated photo set up in a few..maybe tonight.

Thanks for looking Farmers!!!

Sweet... Seems like this journal is getting caught up with real time action... Nice work sfzoo... Hope you can toss some more coco to cover those rapid rooters... :thinking

Yes sir is catching up to real time indeed..lol.

Seems like i'm either here or there, never both at once.:big_boss:

Will be adding more coco tomorrow. Today, just feeding. Hoping they come around and start to bust out some leg!

Tonight, xmas party!!! :party0022:
[always wanted to use that smilie...this place has some crazy ones. btw, no coke for me. just thought it was a crazy one, lol]

Few of the cuts have hit the dirt, i'd assume due to low humidity(no dome). others are still lookin good.

Damn bro, how similar - I neglected the fuck out of my mothers (left them in a puddle of water for two weeks while I went to Europe) and am still paying for that.

Your plants will be fine though :) (lol, except for that one bitch - you're gonna have to hide that body)

And regarding coke - everything in moderation...........stoked to see you back up and rocking.

For cloning - you ever give Rapid Rooters a shot? That's by far my favorite medium (use aero now, but back when I was using mediums) for cloning - much better air/water retention ratio than rockwool, which was a pain in the ass.

Anyhow, keep up the good work and I already told you once but I'll say it again - fucking love the new angles on the shelves, I think you're really ready to rock the shit outta this second run :)

dont know how i missed this but u killlin it wit the stadium my dude! u got alot of fire in there bro u gonna be like a kid in a candy store come harvest time :harvest:

Thanks Bobby,

you're right about the pain in the that is rockwool. I'm gonna give rapid rooters a shot if the coco doesn't pan out. Coco seems like it'll be a more stress free xplant if going into coco as well.

Thanks for the kind words! can't wait to see your garden running!! clones soon?
