Welcome to The Breeders Lab.

This forum is for cannabis genetics and breeding discussion: lineage, parent selection, filial generations, preservation projects, pollen handling, seed viability, trait selection, terpene/aroma inheritance, strain history, and breeder-to-breeder knowledge.

Please read this before starting a new thread.

1. What belongs in The Breeders Lab

Post here for:
  • Cannabis lineage, ancestry, and strain history
  • Breeding projects, crosses, filial generations, backcrosses, S1/R1 work, IBL work, preservation projects, and polyhybrid questions
  • Parent selection, male/female selection, progeny testing, phenotyping, and trait stability
  • Pollen collection, pollen storage, seed maturity, seed storage, seed viability, and germination-age questions
  • Terpene, aroma, morphology, vigor, resistance, chemotype, and other selectable breeding traits
  • Breeder history and old-school cannabis genetics discussion

2. What does not belong here

Do not use this forum for:
  • Buying, selling, trading, swapping, testing, giving away, or soliciting seeds, clones, pollen, cannabis, hash, or related items in open forum
  • Wish-list posts that are really sourcing requests
  • Private sales, begging for freebies, or attempts to bypass site policy
  • Spam, affiliate posting, vendor promotion, or repeated commercial links
  • Personal attacks, flame wars, doxxing, or posting private conversations
  • General grow troubleshooting that belongs in the Cannabis Infirmary or grow-help areas

3. Where should I post?
  • The Breeders Lab: breeding, lineage, pollen, seed viability, stabilization, parent selection, preservation, and genetics discussion.
  • Strains and Hybrids: general strain opinions, smoke reports, “what strain is this?”, favorite strains, and non-breeding strain talk.
  • Auto Flower Strains: autoflower-specific genetics, autos, and auto strain questions.
  • Cannabis Infirmary / grow-help forums: plant-health issues, nutrient problems, pests, deficiencies, environment, lighting, and general grow troubleshooting.
  • Grow Diaries: step-by-step grow journals and project logs.

4. Make your thread easy to answer

For breeding or lineage questions, include as much of this as possible:
  • Strain or line names
  • Known breeder, seed source, or origin story, if known
  • Generation: F1, F2, F3, BX, S1, R1, IBL, landrace, clone-only, polyhybrid, or unknown
  • Your goal: preservation, aroma, resin, vigor, resistance, structure, flowering time, chemotype, yield, morphology, etc.
  • Population size and selection criteria used so far
  • What traits you are selecting for and what you are culling against
  • Photos, test data, germination age, seed storage details, or pollen storage details where relevant
  • What you already searched or read before posting

5. Suggested thread title formats

Clear titles get better answers. Good examples:
  • [Lineage] Road Kill Skunk history and related lines
  • [Question] F2 segregation and selecting keeper males
  • [Pollen] Storage method, viability, and timing question
  • [Project] First cross: parent goals and selection notes
  • [Terpenes] Aroma traits worth selecting for
  • [Preservation] Keeping an old line from bottlenecking
  • [Vendor/Source Question] First-hand experience only, no solicitation

6. Legacy Breeders Lab resources

These older sticky threads are still useful references, but they are no longer the primary forum index:
