Step by step bho guide

Hey guys, after chatting to a couple guys here and a fee elsewhere I've tried to come up with a sort of step by step guide recipe type thing to my next BHO process, if anyone's interested or got time to have a look, any feedback, edits or additions would be appreciated more than you can know



## WHA##YOU NEED
**Materials:**
1. Buntane ( 1 can per 28g )
2. Bud ( as fresh as possible - 28g increments )
3. Glass extraction tube
4. Vacuum chamber & pump
5. Dry ice pellets
6. 25 micron coffee filter ( 4 layered )
7. 300 mesh stainless steel screen
8. Clamp
9. Pyrex dish
10. parchment paper/silicon matt
11. Laser thermometer
12. Heat source (matt/Pad/plate able to hold steady temp)

1##PREPbutane can in freezer night before extraction
2. Clean and dry apparatus
3. Pack extraction tube and place in bucket of dry ice for around 30 mins prior
4. Turn heat on and preheat vacuum chamber to around 22°C


## STEPS

Remove from freezer and set the cans of butane in bucket of dry ice, leave them there until ready to extract

Step 2
Remove packed extraction tube from dry ice, hold directly over the Pyrex dish.

Step 3
Take can of butane from the bucket of dry ice and put the Nosel in the hole at the top end of the glass tube, hold the can down and allow the butane to fill the tube until you Begin to see liquid coming from the bottom end of the tube, making sure that the now green/golden butane liquid is landing in the pyrex dish. Do this with as many cans as needed for the liquid to start turning clear again.

Step 4


After liquid has turned clear remove the can from the extraction tube and leave the pryex dish outside in open to air purge. The solution will evaporate down to a Slimey sticky oil once most of the liquid butane is gone.

Step 5
Once you reach this stage you can transfer your oil to some parchment Paper or a silicon mat if you chose, or you can leave it in the Pyrex if your chamber is big enough to fit with the lid on.

Step 6
Now place your oil in the vacuum chamber and place the lid on, making sure it is on securly and evenly. Turn on the pump and start to pull a vacuum, you will see the product start to grow like a muffin, if the muffin is growing to big and is close to touching the sides of your chamber reduce the vacuum until it shrinks back down to a safe size.

Step 7
Watch the product carefully until it stops trying to grow and is just bubbling. When you feel it is safe to leave unattended, pull a full vacuum and leave pump running. Every now and then come back and release the vacuum completely and repull it to back to full.

Step 8
Around 12 hours into vac purging take product from the chamber and flip the slab so its downside is now facing up to allow for easier, more even purging. Repeat as many times as neccasary until there are no more bubbles forming what so ever.

Step 9
Now there are no bubbles forming any longer you should be left with a clear golden/amber glass like product that dosnt react to minor temp changes and is far less sticky. The process is complete. Enjoy!!

Sounds like you got it down pretty good. What kind of vac chamber? I’ve only used a chamber a couple times, but it had no heat source so it was a pain in the ass…I’m curious what guys are using these days.

What’s with the freezing of cans and tubes tho? I feel this is wasted effort as this is bho and not bubble hash. Even at room temp once you turn that can upside down after a shake, it comes out as a liquid and like subzero temp it frosts up the tube…this is just a byproduct of the compressed gas expanding and I don’t think the cold is a necessary part of the process, tho unavoidable.

Freeze the filled tubes and the butane to keep any/all moisture frozen during extraction. This reduces water soluble stuff you don't want, such as chlorophyl, from staining your product. It also helps keep the gas in liquid form, so that it can wash out the resins that you do want.

I live in a legal state, I can get BHO wax that was legally processed rather cheap. It's not worth A) Blowing yourself up or B) Committing a felony.

Open blasting where I live will put you behind bars. This usually happens after the person blows themselves up.

Well, you may have misunderstood me when I said it was bs…just one step of this process I was saying is bs…I do make my own wax, but my method is sound…I don’t endanger myself or anyone else, always do it outside away from any possible spark…the guys that blow themselves up are doing it indoors. I had a buddy who thought he could blow it in his garage with the door open, something electrical clicked on creating a spark which ignited the fumes, no explosion, but there was fire and he dropped the tube and cut his foot on broken glass and got a little burn on his foot….he did all this against my strongly worded warning.

Considering that I can buy legal BHO at around $6 a gram, there's no sense in committing a felony. Even static discharge can cause the explosion. Being outdoors might make it safer, but not safe enough. It makes no sense to endanger life, limbs, property or set yourself up for a felony conviction.

You obviously haven't given it much thought. Just like your demeanor! Just about every commercial enterprise extracting BHO will use an ice or dry ice jacket. It's simply a no brainer to freeze the column/weed/butane for a few hours before extraction. And what does it cost? A few hours, or better still, overnight, but no actual spend. Numpty!

I had a go making bubble hash, but prefer BHO or edibles. I've been making carts for over 5 years now.

A better diy extraction method, imo; is using a whippet whipped cream dispenser with a slightly modified top and 300? mic (it's been 20+ yrs) stainless filter tube made from airless paint filters.

You spray crumbly dry "worthless" leaf (or buds, larf; whatever you want) but leaf is fine.

Dry until crumbly and rub thru 1/4" wire colander to prep
Load canister with as much as you can and still be able to insert filter tube and put lid on.
Charge with 3 cans of warm butane, shake gently for a minute or two, then spray out entire contents (warm the butane using hot tap water bath, this helps butane flow better). Load 2 more cans> spray. Load 1 can> spray. Weed is now spent.

This produces 24k gold colored "honey butter" if sprayed off into water, or 24k "honey bud" if sprayed back onto bud. It comes out as a very fine aerosol. When sprayed onto buds it completely dissipates and leaves a very clean, 24k gold and crystal product with no need to vac (or so we thought). Sprayed off into water then collected off the top, it makes a fluffy 24k butter with a lot of butane bubbles in it; which should be vacuumed. (we never bothered back in the day = unhealthy I know...)


The guy that taught me this method; his dad got his start in the Cali legal scene by going out there around the beginning of it, in the late 90's and buying two pounds of killer bud for $4000 (almost all the money he had). He sprayed 1 pound back onto the other to make 1 pound of "honey bud" (not all at once of course). He sold to the dispensaries for $50/g, turning his $4k into $22,400. Dispensaries were getting $80/g; I witnessed this with my own eyes on their menu. (this was around the year 2000, wild west days fer sure)

Disclaimer: Mucking with butane is dangerous af, do not attempt to do this at home!

Having said that; the next time I make one I'll post the build and results, probably be a cpl months though

I'm not going re-post all the safety stuff that's already been said... Just use some common damn sense if messing with this stuff.
