Something @G gnome suggested that I did was to take some clear packing tape and slap it around on top of my lights, (which I had to have the wife do but, whatever), since there were some people saying they liked to camp out there, which, didn't make sense to me when there's no food there but, to make sure. Anyway, I took the packing tape, folded it over on itself to seal it up and proceeded to scour every millimeter of those things looking for any sign of bugs or eggs and there was nothing...at all. I started at 60x and worked my way up to 120x magnification on my scope and there was nothing there.
To my thinking, if they aren't even going as far as the top of my light, which some people were saying was a spot they liked, how far are they gonna go? After my experience, I'm pretty set in thinking that they aren't going to leave their food source for a damn thing.
But, I'm just throwing my experience out there as an example that mites aren't gonna go hide under your pillow waiting until you think they're all gone, that's all.

Thank you guys , I believe I have finished the war.
I’m cutting clones today from 3 moms and then trashing the moms.
I will dip all 3 clones with Safer soap before they go into the cloner.
This will be the 4th foliar on them , so hopefully they will be gone.
I’ll scope later to see.

Does anyone put any of these in their Grow space and if so does it seem to help?

I’m going to plug one in my spot , and still start up a preventative schedule.

Str8 For your consideration, All pasted from various sites. As of last update in 06 mfgrers still haven't rovided the FTC with legit studies that they work.

Do they really work?
Unfortunately, no. None of these devices have been scientifically shown to do what they claim they do. I would love to recommend these as a safe alternative to indoor pesticides if they worked -- but, I can't. And, in 2001 the FTC even warned manufactures and retailers that claims of efficacy must be backed by scientific data (see FTC Warns Manufacturers and Retailers of Ultrasonic Pest-control Devices).

The bottom line is that if manufacturers have scientific data that demonstrates that these devices work they should make it easily available, but of course they don't. Instead, testimonials are the only evidence of efficacy they offer. Testimonial data, such as "I tried it and it worked great!", is not reliable because it is highly subject to the placebo effect which, in the simplest terms, is what happens when people see what they want to see. To be credible the claims must be backed up with proper scientific data.

Methods I Can Recommend

(try these instead!)

  • ants
  • bed bugs
  • cockroaches
  • dust mites
  • spiders
  • other pests
Manufacturers have argued that there is no evidence that the devices don't work. This is true but only because you can't prove a negative result (see updates below). However it is the complete absence of published, scientific data that is most striking. I have not been able to find even one positive test result that has been published in a scientific journal.

I believe it is the responsibility of manufacturers to provide credible data that the devices they sell actually work. Otherwise, their unsupported claims are no better than "snake oil" in my opinion. Check their literature and you'll not find credible, published evidence of scientific testing. I'll make an offer, if published studies do exist and these studies confirm a claimed effect on pest behavior, I'll gladly amend this page and include the results. All the manufacturers need do is send me a reference or the name of a credible researcher that I can contact. (There has been no response to this offer in over 10 years!).

Updates

In 2002 a study was conducted at Kansas State University that tested a commercial ultrasonic device against reproduction in the Indian meal moth. The study found that moths enclosed in a chamber and subjected to high (94 dB) ultrasonic sound produced fewer sperm (in males), fewer larvae, and the larvae weighed less. While these results are interesting I don't think they tell us much about how the devices perform under real world situations. High levels of ultrasonic sound may act as a sort of birth control for moths, at least under these artificial conditions. Whether or not this would result in useful pest management remains to be tested.

In another article published in 2006 by the same researchers who conducted the 2002 at KSU they tested the ultrasonic devices for repellency against German cockroaches. In short, the devices failed to show any repellency and they concluded that the devices would not be useful for pest management of cockroaches. My guess is that these researchers got no more research funding from this industry!

That is just for reference, the ones I ordered were a 5star rating.

@jumpincactus
Thank you for that post, I guess I’m going to try em out, since I’ve ordered them already.
So I guess this will be a good test to see if it works.
For some reason my house has become a ant farm it seems like, no matter what I spray or spread around the perimeter they come back.
So I’m going to give it a try.
