Tag along for my first grow

So after a couple failed attempts in seedling stages with previous seeds, I’ve decided the soil I was using was trash. (Make sure you read a little and don’t buy off of excitement alone). So after getting foxfarms happy frog soil and nutrients I gave it another shot, and here we are. I’m 8 days in since I planted in the soil, all pics are in order to show growth over the past 8 days. Last photo is from this morning. This plant is a complete turnaround from the other failed seedlings. No discoloring, growing fast. I’m happy, for now. I won’t talk your ear off about setup, quick rundown.
-Green Crack Feminized Photoperiod
-Happy frog/FoxFarms Nute trio
-2x2x2 tent kept at 65-68Rh & 75-78F
-VS1000E Light
-3 Gallon fabric pot for final transplant
-Basic fans for air flow

This is my first grow and first time with all of this, so excuse anything I’m doing that is cringy or just wrong, and please feel free to leave any tips, harsh or kind. All are appreciated. I’m doing more and more research by the day, so hopefully yall can be here to witness my first successful grow! Let’s see how this goes!

Nice job! Shes looking happy and healthy! Yeah it’s really easy to knee jerk around all this stuff! : ) I have returned more items in the last year I didnt need because I got excited than I have ever returned before! You have the right idea with researching on your own! : ) thats a huge benefit around here! Lots of self help if you’re willing to dig and try and fail a few times. But also there are tons of great growers here on the Farm that can guide you and help you if you want it.

Gone all day and come home to find so much more growth, I’m amazed. This is gonna be a long 3 months.

howdy austin and welcome to the farm, i'm not going to say much, as i'm not a soil or seed

grower. my main experience that ended many yrs ago, was with hydro and clones. that being said,

i'm going say 1st off; love the plant and love what you're doing, there are as many dif ways

of growing as there are growers and many, if not most, will swear up and down that their way

is the best, and in a way they are right. my theory is it's bc the plant is so adaptive that

once you make it out of the seedling stage, you're off and running and it can actually be

quite difficult to kill them as they are very hardy. you can fuck'em up good in a myriad of

ways, but with some tlc & proper guidance, they can usually be saved. and brother, you came

to the right place for that. #2 find a good mentor and listen to them and do what they say.

#3 never give up, everybody on this site have all had our fair share of

trials and tribulation, failures and success, wasted money on this snake oil or the other,

countless hrs tryna research this problem or that, buying $1000's worth of equipment, just

to have it sit around and never get used etc. etc. you get the idea. the one thing the

pro's all have in common is; they stuck it out until they finally became proficient at this

craft and lucky for all of us, they've gathered together here in a kind of brotherhood and

they are willing and eager to help out newbs such as yourself (and me).

bottom line is stick around and figure out what works for you and roll with it, and you'll

be fine. and remember shit happens, even to the pros.

i'll leave you with a couple pics of a little runt that i rescued on nov 9th, to hopefully

inspire you. when given 100% of what they need, they are capable of growing

incredibly fast (i've seen 12-14" per day and i'm sure there's people here that have seen

even faster than that.) this plant is 34 days from seed today & drinking 1 gallon

of nute solution per day. oh, and i have a whack sense of humor, so enjoy. the capt's

is the main room where everyone hangs out and talks shit & tells lies etc. feel free

to follow along my grow and see if i still have it after all these yrs

Damn man! She’s a bushy girl, I usually see plants that size that are thinned out. Is there any specific reason?

i'm of the school of thought that believes the plant needs all the leaves [growth engines] it can get to fuel rapid growth. if you notice, the bottom leaves are still lush and green even though they are underneath the canopy, they are transpiring and sucking up water and co2 and releasing oxygen and supplying the plant with starches and carbohydrates, from the innerweb* (which is exactly what i wanted to say):

*["fan leaves, like other green plant leaves, produce carbohydrates and starches through photosynthesis. During this process, they convert carbon dioxide and sunlight into sugars (such as glucose), which the plant then uses for energy and growth. Excess sugars can be stored as starches in the leaves, stems, and roots, providing a reserve of energy for the plant.

These carbohydrates are essential for the overall health and development of the cannabis plant, supporting everything from root growth to flower production."]*

i'm not going to tell you what to do or not do, i'm just showing you what is possible when all parameters are [closely] met. plus our situations are dif, i don't believe you can get the same growth rates in soil, i'm prolly giving 100% more oxygen and nutes,, which would prolly drown if in anything but the quickest draining draining soiless mixes that don't get water logged or soggy. right now she's drinking 1gal per day.

what i advise (if i were to advise hehe), i would only say to do some studying and asking questions on here, then try to get a good consensus and roll with that. b4 long (if not already) you with develop a symbiotic relationship w/ her and she will let you know. hope it helps

Your doing good,,, keep it up! Challenges come and go in a grow. Some like a leafy plant others strip. At some point real bushy plant growers go a few rounds with mold and mildew and they change up a tad. It's all about the ever elusive balance. Hydro grows faster, then coco which is slow-mo hydro. Then soil. I've come to love slow easy Gaia Green soil growing. I've got other things to waste time on other than growing.

sorry bro, i should have added that soil is definitely the place to start, altho my style of hydro is actually quite simple with a few lessons. if you ever decide you want to give it a go, there are many here who'll be glad to help you out myself included.

Heck man if this works out I know I’ll definitely see the day where I try a hydro grow out, they look clean and simple tbh. You know where I’m gonna come to get my information on it too haha. Merry Xmas brother and happy holidays

Guys, what’s going wrong? My plant is growing fast and was healthy, now leaves are curling up and looking a little saggy in some spots? I’m freaking out. This is day 15.

Hey Austin, welcome. Sorry your seeing issues with your plant. The first thing comes to mind is too much light. I see your VS1000E has no dimmer switch and recommends to hang the light 24" above plants for seedlings/early veg. Is that what you're doing?

Welcome! I just blindly finished my first outdoor grow, glad to see someone doing a similar indoor. You mean you can’t just buy whatever soil and nutrients and grow pounds of dank? crazy.

Good afternoon sir. And yes I have it as high as I can, someone else said the same. They recommend I put the plant in the farthest corner from the light so I am going to try that today. Maybe move my light back further. I have it about 22” away due to size of my tent, and height with the plant in the bigger pot.
