We have been thinking about mulching with straw.
I'm going to second the suggestion for what's a cover crop. Clover, fenugreek, anything that stays low will work well here. The goal is to mitigate water loss, which is a real trick using fabric pots (specifically why I moved away from those and to raised beds, set up hugelkulture-style with logs in the bottom, and including char). Another thing you could do is set straw bales on one or two sides of the pots, south and west-facing for example, to help mitigate water loss without the possibility of getting a dead mulch up against the stalks. I've just generally moved away from dead mulches unless I'm using wood chips for a path or driveway.

The purple zebra is so damn chunky for day 33 of flowering.

We've been using this natural fox urine from southern Oregon it has been making a bunch of the strains get either red or pink hairs. Kinda wierd

Interesting, any more info about it you can share? Are you using it as an animal repellant?

Fox urine that's a new one. What's it supposed to do for the plants?

Well I have a round of light dep going. It's just after 4 weeks and this round is going so much better then my early season one. The first round I harvested in the end of May and I had a bunch of random plants that didn't get big enough and it was to cold. Still got a bunch of herb off of it but this one is gonna be so much chunkier.

Ahh..! You got a hold of the PZ, eh? She's a pretty gal.
That PZ looks so crazy, I've never seen something with a natural pink like that awesome plants
You should see the finished buds. This plant was bred by a friend of Blaze's and mine, NCGA. The buds have two colors, lighter and darker, thus the Zebra in the moniker. Very apt. She smokes pretty nicely, too.

We did less pots this year and we went with bigger pots and spread them out more. I hope it works. I have always been told it's easier to get more weight from doing more numbers but the better the grower you are you can reach the same amount with less plants. View attachment 591693
That is so true it's about growing quality not quantity. But finding that balance to respect each plant by not overcrowding and allowing the plant a better chance to produce a good yield ... that is what leads to a better harvest, not growing x amount of plants it's perfecting the ones you have

Things are getting huge :) I wanna give a big shout out to my two main helpers.. I couldn't do this without you guys... This weekend was such a special time in my life and it was really amazing to know that shit was taken care of while I was gone... The purple zebra is about as big as a baseball bat (pictures are coming) and about 70 percent of the Blue dreams are already much larger then last year... Tahoe was so amazing--- There was a 40 person granite hot tub to the left above the lake (ridiculous)
