I am running 15 gallon Canna Coco this run and my girls are 3 times as big as they were in 15 gallon soil. I have heard great things with using Smart pots. I going to give the 10 gallon Smart pots a try next time. Good luck!

bro they make 15a digital timers with up to 6 "events" per day that you can set for 1 minute to however long you need.

they are alot cheaper then cycle timers and a bit more versatile.

ugh I hate digital timers, they are a pain in the ass to program. I can afford a cycle timer no problem but for now i'll be using gph drippers and 15 min intervals. Maybe i'll buy a cycle timer if I have clogging issues with the drippers.

Somewhere around 41 days

Girls are chugging along :) Plant yo-yos have been handy in training some branches to the front.

I decided not to flower some other strains out next run so i'm 3 girls short for the room. I have 3 girls on deck in chow mix and need 3 more to fill the room. The only way possible for me to get 3 more in time to flower (about 4 weeks) is to run rdwc again. I'll be taking cuts in the next day or two so they'll get a decent veg before they go in the big room I've reduce the potential loss to 50% but I'm still a little nervous since i'll be trying rockwool for the first time....the journey continues :)

Things are a bit crowded in the room so it's hard getting decent pics. Just took some random shots from above.

Now that's what I call a sticky situation!

Already looking like a full house of sweet buds for sure in there, easy!

Hempy chow must be the breakfast of champions.:D

Been in the cut studing the game, I will also be trying my hand at the chowmix shortly. have one outdoor under my belt and 100s of hours studing this fourm, jus wanted to thank you for this great thread.
CONFU...

JK, I only did rdwc once and barely finished the run with only two girls surviving. Buds turned out light and fluffy but at least it wasn't a complete loss. Just couldn't overcome the stem rot problem. I just harvested my 2nd chow mix girl (same strain as in my rdwc setup) a couple weeks back and buds were nice and dense like normal in coco. I was expecting them to be much bigger in the rdwc setup but never got a good run in to compare.

What's up EP? How's the chow mix doin? Any signs of those fungus gnats you mentioned earlier?

Oh my, its getting crowded in there. Whats your room dimensions like?

How sticky are you when you leave your room after maintenance, haha. What do you use to clean all the resin off your skin and clothing... just playin. Seriously though are you crawling into that jungle and popping up under the vertical lights lol.

rock on :harvest:

I found my buds bigger and denser in a coir mix but the rcdwc gave me bigger plants with a lot more bud sites. JK

i gotta say im not fond of the whole uc /dds/jk growing systems up until i saw your setup wow man that looks really good and hey no-offence uc/dds/jk im a horizontal guy but this set-up is making me rethink my grow rooms and there set-ups

HG23, I still have a few gnats flying around but it's not an infestation. I got the gnatrol and dosed the chow mix pretty good during a flush but it didn't kill the larvae right away. I saw two different kinds of larvae...not sure if it was different stages but they finally died after a couple weeks. I"m gonna use this stuff to pre treat the coco before I use it next time. I got new no pest strips and they killed most of the flying ones within a day.

mikeross, my plants are lifted pretty high off the floor so I have a good amount of crawl space to get around. I can't stand up anywhere but I can sit in a few places comfortably :) Sometimes I bring in a pillow and take a nap on the floor lol. Room size is 9.5x12x8.

JK, I did notice a lot more bud sites on my rdwc attempt compared to coco. How do they compare in your chow mix/aero tubs? I'm about to give rdwc another try. Love how Heath does things...but I don't see how he gets such killer yields with 600s. He's a magician of sorts :)

420king, it's just your typical tree grow with vertical lighting. Side lighting is the ticket to grow big plants with less popcorn buds.

I'm realizing more and more how important it is to prepare your girls during veg before flowering. Every time I used side lighting during veg, my stems were bigger with nice branching all down the plants. Clipping some big shade leaves seemed to help even the growth out during veg.

I'm gonna need a few more chow mix runs before I get things figured out. Sticking to one strain will make things much easier.

I'll have a photo update soon. Only about 10 days left till chop!

easy,
so what will be the choice of strain that you are going to go with? The dawgs? White fire?

-TF

Hey TF, I've narrowed it down to 13 dawgs pheno #3 and my white fire. Smoke is great and yield is decent with both and should be better with a little longer flowering this time around. I'm keeping my hazy jones but getting rid of the other phenos of the dawgs.

It's hard to dial things in when you only have one room and trying to run different strains. I built a small 8x9 flower room to play around with different setups and to flower new strains. I have 3 chow mix girls (one white fire and two dawgs #3) that i'm about to flip with one 1k vert in the test room. Then it's off to flowering some new strains. Got Sannie's Jackberry on deck!

The main flower room is gonna get 5 White fires in the old mpb setup. Clones are going into netpots in the next couple days. Gonna be fun growing at the same time with ya, bro! I'm gonna flip flop my 4k (2k on at a time) to see how that works out. I'm trying to get things a little more efficient and may end up trying it with 600s lol

How your new girls doing?

HR and Reaper could kill the g/w ratio but they use a lot of plants. I got scared just looking at those pics of Reaper's Bunker grows.
This round coming down today, had 16 strains off one rez. That's a cluster fuck. Maybe I am getting long in the tooth where I revert back to newbi mistakes. Hopefully I find the Money Tree in this group. I am looking for 2 more strains to run with my BP. She seems to get bigger when there is competition in the room.
Of my 3 systems I make the 500(krusty bucket somewhat)1000(aero) and my new BM-3000(Beast Master is a rcdwc multi directional, multi level flow) the end product is similar. The 500 is like the tortoise just keep chugging along. The 1000 gives me bigger plants quick thru veg and up to week 3-4. By week 6-7 I think the 1000 and 3000 have the same amount of weight. The rcdwc are just smaller and more round. The 3000 is cheaper to run as it just needs one pump.
Are you going to run a sterile or live rez?
Suerte JK

That's the reason I never ran any of Heath's setups before. Way too many plants...about ten times too many! I'd like to try a 2 plant tree grow with 600s and one pump to see how it goes. Maybe even try a hp aero setup for the hell of it.

Shit man, 16 strains! I don't know how you managed.

I was planning on running a sterile res. What's worked the best for you? Or should I say, what's the safer bet?

I like a live rez, the only time I ran without bennies I got the rot. If you ran sterile I would use chems rather then ozone or uv. JK

I'd like to lower the chance of rot so i'll give the live res a try. My first attempt was sterile and I ended up with stem rot. I was going to transplant my 1" cubes into netpots of straight hydroton and top feeding the whole time. I was really worried about getting stem rot again so I didn't transfer to 4" cubes. I drilled a ton more holes up the sides of my netpots so it should drain properly this time. I really want this rdwc attempt to be successful so i'm listening closely to any advice you may have. What do you use for your bennies and how do you apply it?

hydrofungicide bro, shit is no joke. you can tell rot to go fuck itself with that stuff

your stem rot, I think, was caused by the top feed flowing on the stem

Hey dizzle, I was using hydro fungicide on my first run. It probably kept them alive longer than without. If I had shut off the top feed as soon as it started to overflow, I don't think I would have had any problems. That started happening around week 3 and at week 5 they were shot. Stem and everything in the netpot stayed flooded. I won't make that mistake again. I need to give it another attempt before abandoning it completely. Even if everything goes well, I'm not sure if i'm gonna run the system again. Need more simplicity. If I had enough chow mix girls ready, they would go in there instead.
