So hey there Tex... I am looking to fire up my 10 x 10 indoor room. Last time I ran it years ago I was using two 1k hps. I had pretty good results but temps were an issue.

So the Timber? you recommend if I want to start with cobs. Plug and play sounds nice.
So your seeing an increase in yield with these compared to other lights?

Honestly bro, I've tried them all now. I've done mh, SE hps, DE hps, 1w and 3w led panels, Cobs, and Quantum Boards. I'm still testing QBs and they seem almost as good as the cobs, but not sure yet. The Cree cobs have been the winner for me, and most of my room is in CXB 3590 Cree for that reason. However the new Vero 29 chips are just as good as the CXB at about half the price, so if'n I was to do a big room It would most likely be filled with Vero 29.

Hell, Green Genes is building them so cheaply now I probably wouldn't even bother building them myself. I would probably buy the PLC 6.2 or the PLC 225. It's basically local for you as well so shipping shouldn't be bad at all. So much value in those fixtures. Should be able to do 1-1.5 GPW with these fixtures on a good grow.

Hope this helps bro @stiffneck

It helps a lot thanks Tex! So is this Pacific Light Concepts?

I like both those styles I think I might get two or three of the 225s. I wonder why there seems have a five year warranty but the more expensive 6.2s only have a three year warranty. I must be blazed. But I like those lights! They should work well...

So you said it's for a 10x10' room? Are you going to try to fill it up or just start buying quality lights and have a lot of space for the future?

I like either of the Pacific Light Concept fixtures. Although, you'll get a better spread with the 225's. Probably want to run 3 per 4x4 area.

Honestly with so many new lights coming to the market now, it seems harder than ever to find the right one. Timber, Horticultural Lighting Group, PLC are all great choices. If you want to do DIY Rapidled is my go to site now. Reliable service ime.

I'm liking this HLG 550 knock off as well. It's the same components spread a little further out.

For these girls I striped everything but the top 3-4 nodes right before flower. Plan is to not strip or defoliate at all this round and see how it turns out. This Ceasar 2 was in the 1 gal root porn shot transplanted to 3 gal then flipped. Looking lovely on Day 9

Tex right up front dude just wanted to to say you got it going on in your garden. Really nice looking room/grow. :)

So yeah it's a 10x10 room. Used to have two 1k hps on light rails. Worked great except for the summer months when it got to hot to run the room.

Honestly I am more undecided now! So many choices. I need my medicine and a will be growing forever. I love my greenhouse but the room is just sitting there and I am always up in the early am hours. It would be nice to have a room to go play in at 2 am... so I figure I will invest a little bit on getting the room going...

Don't laugh.... here a shot of the soon to be garden/cave.

Greetings All: Love following the thread. StiffNeck...love where ya heading. As you can see I go for COBs. Much better control of environment. Not to mention the quantity/quality of the bud. If DIY, alot of room for experimenting/enhancing. I just added GreenGenes zigbee wifi. Curious to see the results of growing sunrise/sunset dimming capabilities. I use a basic 1K rig. Nothing fancy, fully functional. Timber could be your source, great products/support (if needed), plug n play. Lowes for the rest.
CallmeTex...Bro, always total props. Love the show.
Success w/all ya grows!!!

I am liking the direction I am going also. Love growing plants. While I have been known to tackle a project or two I think I might just pull the trigger on the Timber fatty vs. I think I can start with that. I have a couple other led lights somebody gave me I can add those too. I got a bunch of strains going and need a place to flower them out. Haha. Should have listened to Tex and planned this shit out better. :)

OK. I messed up posting the pics and reply. Sue me...
Shot of driver panel w/Zigbee. Replacing center light( Heatsink USA weighs a ton) w/200 watt Cree kit from Timber (I bought 3 kits). For me, no muss, no fuss..2 3' aluminum angle, a few zip ties, doorbell wire. The rig is 6'x3'. Sorry OCDs. I KISS.
Hope this helps someone.

That's a nice rig there. Lots of output for the watts used.;)

Hey @stiffneck I like the fatty VS, just don't like the price. You could diy for quite a bit cheaper, but that is up to you. If you're interested I can give you a shopping list.

On a side note I really like the form factor of having 8 cobs with 2 rows of 4. These thinks are great and are more adjustable than having larger fixtures. Great for a mixed canopy and seed runs. Can tilt them for side lighting as well.

I might take you up on the offer to help with the list if I go that route. I used to have a smaller room off that larger one for vegging and most that do that again. So yeah cost is an issue.

What are your thoughts on buying something off craigslist I have seen some impressive expensive set ups going for maybe half the price of new...

After looking at that they look super easy to put together. Maybe I will try to put something together myself if I get inspired. I need to research a bit more....

I wouldn't buy those because they're citizen cobs. Not quite as high quality as cree or vero.

If I wanted to rock a 4x4 on the cheap I would buy the following:

2- Meanwell Hlg 320-2100b Drivers
8- Vero 29 SE 3000k (Poke in) with stella lenses
8- 140 mm Pin Heatsink
2- Cased potentiometer (Dimmers)
18 awg 600v solid copper wire. 300v works fine if that is all you can find.

Enough aluminum angle or other metal material to build a frame around 32''x 42'' (outside diameter). I've used 3/4'' aluminum angle on all my builds and it works well. Could be a little more ridged IMO. U channel aluminum would be legit too, or even square tubing for some braces.

These components will give you a 600w light for around 750-800$ and about 8 hours of your time (give or take 4 hours). I had a lot of good people help me along when I started building my rigs, so I am here to pass it on. Holler at me.
