Ok onto the current project. For this one I am growing as much variety as I can. Some of it is pheno hunting, or at least it was meant to be, some of it is nutrient testing. So right now what is going on is as follows; I was gifted a clone of Black Lime Reserve (Aficionado seeds) and that original plant was cut to hell and made a ton of clones. That original plant is now on Day 10 of flower in Ocean Forest and is being fed Bio Bizz nutes. One of her clones was planted into Happy Frog and will be a permanent mother for my collection. I have a few others that will be (or are) in coco and will be getting a diet of Key Grow Solutions nutrients (this is a nutrient trial). I was also gifted two seed plants, one is Crown Royale (Crop King) and Pineapple Chunk (Barney's). I am hoping for good things from both of these plants. Both are in Happy frog and will also be fed a diet of Kew Grow nutes. The Crown Royale (CR) was from feminized seed and is showing her pre-flowers as of today. I will be taking clones of her in the next few days and then throwing her into flower. The Pineapple Chunk (PC) was started at the same time and is about half the size, proving to be a bit of a slow grower in veg, not my favorite trait but I can be patient. I love pineapple and typically enjoy pineapple flavored varieties, so I am hoping for a very pineapple tasting plant here; either that or a super skunky one. The PC is now putting on its branches and the lowest ones are quickly trying to catch up to the apical meristem, leading me to believe it is trying to be a more bushy plant rather than a typical conical shape. Finally in the mix are two Praying Mantis (Mass Medical) which are both in coco and also getting Key Grow nutes; this is the pheno hunt, I only expect to keep one of these plants (if they are both girls). I had started 4 seeds only 2 gave me anything to work with, so they are numbered #1 and #3; the #1 is 4 or 5 days older as the original #2 didn't pop properly so I started the #3 and #4 (also didn't make it). Praying Mantis #1 (PM#1) has some really fat leaves and is showing very tight nodal space, but with a good rate of growth. Praying Mantis #3 (PM#3) is a very quick grower and is as tall as PM#1, its leaves are not as fat and there is a bit more internodal space, but I am excited by the slightly quicker growth rate. But these are the smallest of the plants and will be last to make it into flowering, but I am super excited to see what they can do.

Because of the OG/Chem dominated market I have recently been on the hunt for varieties that do not have those genes within them. This is why I am very excited for the Pineapple Chunk, the Crown Royale and the Praying Mantis, they should hopefully be a departure from that genetic set and provide me with a bit more variety in flavor and effect. This whole project has me excited truthfully, for the first time in a very long time I do not know what to expect from these plants and that is what gets me so excited for this.

Onto some pics.

Here is how September looked.

Lookin sweet bro!!!
A lot of love and care over there!:)

Honestly they looked better than they smoked, but it was a fun grow and I am keeping a mom for her. So there will be at least one more Gunslinger run in the future. But it is really this current round that is getting a ton of love.

I am looking forward to doing another Jack Mystery Search, there is definitely something special in there, it just needs to be found. I do have a lot more in line ahead of it though. Too many varieties and not enough space.

I've had good results recently with just putting a bucket of water in the corner of the tent and also some small bowls. Might not be the best way to do it but I went from 38% to 55-65%. My tent is 2,5' x 2,5' x 5'.
I have no ventilation, though.
I moved my drying area RH up pretty good with a 5 gal half full, draped a towel in it to act as a wick, got little clips at dept and three cliped it wide halfway around the bucket rim to expand the area, blew a fan over it, shot right up....but this was not inside a tent, may not have 5 gal bucket room.

Ok so time for an update. I am going to try and do this weekly, but lets see if I can keep to that. So over the last week a fair bit has occurred, I put the Crown Royale into flower, it is on day 3 as of today.

Today has been a very busy day, I had to treat for thrips to start. its not a big problem at the moment, but I don't want to wait until it is, so all the plants got treated. I tried out a new product, Dr. Zymes Eliminator, its supposed to be and insecticide/fungicide. It is OMRI listed and can supposedly be used even after harvest and still test clean. It is enzyme based rather than any kind of derived oil. After looking I still saw a few of the buggers out and about on a plant or two, so I crushed them and hopefully I won't be seeing any more; but I am still probably going to treat them again on Sunday or next week.

I took 4 clones off the Crown Royale and popped them into rockwool plugs. Lets see how quickly they root. I like plants that root quickly and well, they often go with vigorous plants.

I transplanted the final 4 Black Lime cuts I took. 2 of them went into coco and 2 of them went into Cyco Seamix. I got it as a sample too and am giving it a shot. Its coco, peat and kelp (picture provided later), it is a very lightweight mix so I am expecting quick rooting in it. I also transplanted the two Praying Mantis into 2 gallon fabric pots with coco. The two plants are clearly two definitive phenotypes, one is tall with narrow upright branching and the other is growing branches that are more outward growing. This does present me with a bit of an issue, I want to take clones from the two plants as soon as I can but I was considering keeping the original seed plants as moms rather than taking clones and keeping a clone as a mom. But to do that I would most likely top the plant, and I think that will hurt the potential yield or Praying Mantis #1. What do you guys think I should do? Because I am doing this grow with a few more plants in there than expected once again, but each one is different I want to get the best from each, but was also trying to keep more upright plants to utilize the space best. So that would imply keeping the main colas intact and taking clones to generate new moms. How do you guys feel about keeping clones as moms rather than keeping the seed plants?

The Black Lime that is in a 5 gallon fabric pot with soil is doing better, but I kinda realized yesterday that I was grossly under feeding it. It is still a lighter color than I would like, but the plant is looking perky and the lower growth is the green I am looking for, so I am hoping the upper growth will catch up too. I am keeping a bit more nitrogen in the feed than I typically would at this point of the grow but it is necessary. She is budding up strong, particularly at day 17. I am very much looking forward to how she turns out.

Anyway enough rambling onto some pics.

More of the days work.

Praying Mantis #1, you can see the narrow upright growth habit of this plant.

Praying Mantis #3, this one is more bushy in its growth habit. Its branches stretch outward rather than upward.

Okie dokie folks its time for me to try and keep my word and do weekly updates. Here are some shots from the flowering tent today. The first easy to see thing is I put the Pineapple Chunk in to start flowering. I have been having a bit of a nutrient issue, ultimately I think it really came down to low night time temperatures. It was got rather cold this past weekend and the plants slowed transpiration and water uptake. It was a slow build and took a cold snap to help me realize it. I turned the heat on in my place and that has steadied the temperatures and increased water uptake. So I let pots really dry out before watering and feeding anyone and that should also help. Lets see but iits definitely not going to be a perfect run, but I have had plants looking worse at this point that still gave me a good yield and a great product. The Black Lime Reserve is on day 24 of flowering, the Crown Royale is on day 10 and the Pineapple Chunk is now on day 1. Onto the pics.

Pineapple Chunk, check out how nice and bushy she is. I still have to take a few clones off her, but I don't mind doing that a little ways into flowering.

Crown Royle, she is upright and like a nice conifer in shape. She doesn't seem to want to stretch very much, which wouldn't be such a bad thing if she wasn't in there with the Black Lime that is so tall.
