That fytocell is nasty stuff, had a bag delivered a few years back to try, wont go near it again, far too dusty n choking when it gets in the air lol

I've been using it since 2006/7 and never had a problem with choking but I presoak in the bag (The bags are designed for this) so there is no dust. It's white expanded resin (Although it's yellow before they expand lol not sure why it goes white).

I bought a pallet of 100 bags direct from Holland and only have less than 20 left now when they run I shall buy another pallet. I pay £300 a pallet basically but now you can get it in the UK it's probably a little cheaper than that. When I bought it there was no UK distributor. I did sell a fair few bags I'd say I probably used around 40 of the bags 23l over the years.

I find yields are about 5% better than coco but fytocell has amazing aeration it will hold 40% even when saturated but you should presoak which most people don't bother with for 2 reasons.

1. So the medium is saturated before you pot in
2. To rinse the Calcium Carbonate out the medium (It's added as a PH buffer)

It's also virtually impossible to over water.

Why wat do u do for a living?

I organise buying things for the company I work for then they sell them on all in large quantities, mostly I work from home but occasionally I have to go see suppliers especially if it's a new product and I have to do some haggling. The sort of stuff we buy is not the sort of stuff the public uses lol.

Today was easy I was expecting it to take hours but done now only got a few emails and couple of calls and I can enjoy the sunshine except for the freezing lol.

I only have this job because the last job they wanted to drug test everyone in the company so I walked out. This company no one gives a fuck lol.

Saerimmner did you try and break the fyotcell up from clumps. It should come in clumps in the bag and you should use it in clumps. Just squash it down a bgit it doesn't compress like soil or coco. I used to grow tomatoes in 2m lengths of pvc 110mm pipe stood vertically and I noticed that soil and coco both compacted big time over a couple of months of watering but fytocell stayed the same level all the way through.

A word of warning when working with PVC when you drill or saw it chlorine gas is released which they used in ww1 before Mustard gas was invented it was the original nerve gas (Which is absorbed through the skin and gas masks couldn't filter out) It made me very ill for almost a week from drilling only 20 holes and sawing the pipe in a table saw.

No mate i literally got sent a bag to try with instructions like " for use in place of perlite" n that was it, even the company that sent it to me didnt have much of a clue about it it seems
