Also what amp does it say on the ballast?

Amp of the plug that goes in the wall off the ballast is 13A and no extension leads its strait into the wall mate

I have a 600w aircooled hood , 4 x 18w strip lights , 6inch rvk fan , 4inch tt fan , 2 x osc fans and i pull 8amps ...

And the fuse in the ballast is a 15A

All I can think is its cuz the IEC plugs are cheap cuz the wiring was really close to the casing like too close

Has it melted at ballast end or hood end?

Yeh I think a 1000 watt only pulls about 7 amps

The hood end mate ballast is fine

Deffo sounds like the heat from the hood has melted the plug

My hood end is hardwired straight into the porcelain bulb holder and the earth is pot riveted to the hood

Yeh if u look close the brown wire is starting to go too could it be the cheap plug or my shit wiring?

Hmm no idea tbh , to me it looks like your hood or bulb is is pulling to much current for the cable and is causing the cable to melt the screw terminals ... the wiring looks fine except the dodgy stray on the earth that looks abit to close to the live lol

I'm gonna go b+q or something and get a new one and try that i think its the cheap plug I didn't like the look or feel of it when I wired it up...can't see why my hood would be melting it I don't understand any of that tackle only other thing o can think is getting a 16 amp male and female IEC a re wiring the ballast up....but the shape of the connection is for a 10 amp pissing me off man

Its annoying cuz the one I took back had a proper 16a fixing on the ballast all.built in arrgggh....I might just take this fucker back and get the other one back haha I'll phone em 2morra and see if they can sort it out.....this happend the first night I set it up luckily I had a spare IEC plug and its held out for a good week so fuck knows man I'm baffled fuckin electric bollocks

Hahaha me too!im a terrible procrastinator.iv always got some plan that i never do.my carbon filters done and iv been meaning to buy some loose carbon and refill the filter.that was about 18 months ago.haha.im pure jail bait.the place is reeking!just aswell im not very popular as the first person to stand at my open front door would smell it instantly.i really need to sort that out.

You think youre bad I'm going onto week 3...maybe 4 of taking down my grow (all could off been taken down in a matter of hours) n I'm only doing the rest today cuz the landlords over Wednesday
