Unfortunately I did not take any picturesWell I went back to check my flower that I have hanging and one was forsure budrotted. So I guess my question is, Is any of this good to smoke? Can I pick around the rotted spots and will it keep spreading as it dries? Thanks everyone who helps.
I've decided to make hash with all of my blueberry since about 40% possibly more is budrotted. I have 0 experience making it but with the help of YouTube I have full confidence. But a question I have is, will the hash still have the same Blueberry taste as the bud?Unfortunately I did not take any pictures
Hey there's Moose (hope you don't mind I call you moose) lol and it definitely was a bummer forsure but I know thats the risk of outside. Will just have to try to keep next years alittle dryer. I was going to throw it away if I couldn't smoke it until I found out about making hash with rotted buds. It looks fairly easy and I'll try my best to pick off any spot I feel is too far gone that I wouldn't want in the product.Bummer on the rot, nothing more frustrating than seeing stuff hang and go bad but it happens. It's hard to say how salvageable it is but extracting is a good idea. You will generally get the flavor in your extract, depending on how mature your buds are and the quality.
I would probably avoid directly smoking anything that has had rot on/touching it, but you may be able to extract. Good luck!
I appreciate your comment man and thats still a possibility but I figure if I do this and it turns out like shit I can pitch it and it won't be much more of a loss than I already have and if it comes out good then fuck yeah..If there's a possibility of doing atleast something with it than it will be worth it. I will keep you updated.Yeah toss it mate..fuck that.
Thats exactly what I was looking into man. I think we're talking about the same thing. I've seen people put bud and 99% isopropyl and shake the heck out of it. Strain into a glass baking pan and let alcohol evaporate. Is that the same way of making oil?i’d make oil with isopropyl than you don’t have to worry about any rot you can’t see..
Holy fuck, your looking serious with that bottle.mmm? yes just mix it down, oh you can only find 3%?

Yea, I cut and toss anything that's even surrounding it. I used to throw out rot and keep the other in a bin for something else, but I don't even do that much anymore, it all goes in the bin, and if I suspect any rot, I'm on top of it like a madman, with a pair of shears, and a bottle of alcohol to wipe them down with.Bummer on the rot, nothing more frustrating than seeing stuff hang and go bad but it happens. What's this one do? Using alcohol as a miscible, lowering the viscosity of the oil, then evaporating it out, leaving it in position? I'm thinking this could be effective with glycerin also, leaving a bit less residue possibly.i’d make oil with isopropyl than you don’t have to worry about any rot you can’t see..
Maybe next year i won't top them. I'm not sure if that has anything to do big fat colas. I know they've gotten rained on a few times and I wasn't always able to go shake them off. Thats probably where my problems started.Yea, I cut and toss anything that's even surrounding it. Basically I cut the rot, then one or two nodes below it, but for me, often the nodes are very closely packed together, and that's what lead me to the problem in the first place. Usually with insufficient air flow and/or humidity. That's where good spacing comes into play. Tight fat cola's are not always desirable IMO. There's a in-between spacing to be maintained, it seems. That will go a long way in mitigating these sorts of problems, especially in the outside grow situation.
Topping them distributes the flower out to the sides and bottoms if there getting appropriate sunlight, so either topping or training is key in prevention in mitigating mold issues. Also can improve air flow, but defoliating can help that to a much larger degree. Having one central massive cola is hardly ever good IMO. It might look pretty, but there's real danger in having all the bud wadded up in one main location.Maybe next year i won't top them. I'm not sure if that has anything to do big fat colas. The 2 blueberrys i have both had really fat colas and the pre 98 bubba i have has alot of smaller ones and it still has some time left. All 3 topped and trained until I put them outside and got the same nutrients. So far (knock on wood) she is doing good.Topping them distributes the flower out to the sides and bottoms if there getting appropriate sunlight, so either topping or training is key in prevention in mitigating mold issues. That said, it's just gets difficult to manage in some situations, especially with Indicas with tighter internodes. The upside is these plants are generally shorter flowering, so it's simply a balancing act IMO.

yes that is one way.. and here’s a quicker way.. i have to go to work, i can let you know later..Thats exactly what I was looking into man. I think we're talking about the same thing. I'm not sure either. I will look into it. There's alot of videos of people using isopropyl. Not saying they're professionals I just haven't seen anything else used. Doesn't all of the isopropyl evaporate?im not sure, but isopropyl is not a good idea for human consumption. could you use something like everclear or a 151 rum or that vodka that is 150 or so?
