The tip I can share, which I'll let out of the bag... I'm almost ashamed to admit that I'm going to experiment with lol... And its defoliation.

At the end of the stretch phase I'm going to strip a ton of leaves off 2 of my platinum cookie plants. I have 9 nearly identical PC plants in the room so I think doing it to 2 should give me an idea of its merits. One on an inside row and one on an outside row.

I've been harshly skeptical of defoliation forever because it literally seems to defy the most basic principles of botany. I tried it once, but differently and it was a massive failure, though I was a lot younger at the time and not nearly as experienced. But he seems to produce absolutely enormous tight buds that dont have that extra leafy structure i associate with using the technique, and claims his yields went up when he started. But it also requires correct timing and tweaking of a few things to do properly apparently. So while I'm still very skeptical, I think it's time to put this one to bed for myself. Dirtbags doing a defol side by side comparison lol.

You know I'm in the pro defol camp. I run higher numbers on tables with less veg time. I will say its very strain specific and style specific. Stuff like the Ultimate Cookies Im running. Defol vs No defol with the same veg time and plant numbers is a huge difference in yield. Almost 3/4 of a lb sometimes. That is because its a leafy ass plant. I Don't usually keep plants around like that because of the extra work but it does make a difference on something like that if the numbers are up. Then something like the Coffin it doesn't matter. I don't touch that plant once it's in flower (why i love it). Defol or no defol the numbers come out the same.

It's all going to come down to knowing your strains really. You have a pretty good handle on those cuts so you get a pretty good idea on how they grow in veg where it will benefit you.

A lot of this is also how or if you defol in veg and how you train your plants. Also how long you veg. I only top my veg plants once and defol them before they go into flower.

That's excellent insight. My platinum cookies is a leafy ass plant as well so maybe it would benefit. The thing is like a Bush... But my violator on the other hand stretches a lot and has thinner leaves, so gets great light and air penetration without much pruning.

Oops, posted this then realized I had messed something up with the process and didnt want wierd info out there so I removed the first post to try again...I'll start this over...

Doing a bit of microbe replication on the homebrew stirplate today.

Added my last tsp of great white to some nutrient made up with 1 L water with 25g DME, 1/2 tsp unsulphured molasses, 1 tsp glycerin, 1/4 tsp yeast nutrient and .5ml floralicious plus. The yeast nutrient although designed for yeast, has the nitrogen necessary for bacilis replication. The FLP also has nitrogen and the kelp extract to feed the fungus in there, I'd love to boost the trichoderma as well as the bacteria.

I added the GW to 500ml of nutrient at 30 celcius, and I'll let this spin for about 2 hrs then add the other 500ml, and let it spin for another 2 hrs before adding it directly to my res for tonight's first feeding.

Having second thoughts about adding to the res due to the sugar content, though most of it should be consumed by then... I might just add it directly to the pots of coco before the watering cycle comes on to keep it out of the irrigation lines.

Si. I add a tsp to my tea once a month with Tbl of molasses and 1/4 cup bran for the fungus to attach to. Got some killer horse manure/compost tea going this year.

Any particular variety? I've got about 2 dozen different strains of brewing yeast prepared in tubes of glycerin solution in the deep freezer lol. There is actually brewers yeast in great white too according to the label.

Dead autolyzed yeast is a great source of nitrogen and nutrients as well. I almost added marmite to the mix but wasnt sure if it had sulfites or anything added so I left it out.

Lol, just the bacillis subspecies in Great White are both nutrient cyclers and root protectants that quickly multiply in an aerated nutrient mix at the right temp. All you really need to breed bacteria is a mix of micronutrients, humic acids, a carbon source; in this case glycerin and DME, and nitrate. keep it constantly aerated and it should double about every 2 hrs as long as you keep adding more nutrient to it. It's essentially the same way I multiply yeast with a few different tweaks. And the trichoderma should feed off of the kelp extract, though its difficult to breed both bacteria and fungi at the same time, in this case most likely the rhizobacteria completely took over, and I'm ok with that.

Just gotta add, Dr.Green55, coco might not be "true hydro" but holy moly, used like this in small fabric pots it sure performs like it is. This is almost getting away on me its growing so fast.

Thankfully I can go another foot before it starts getting awkward. I could go maybe another foot and a half max, but I think maybe another 6-12" is what I'll get. I hope ..

Goes to show pruning up to the very tip before flip dont mean shit. these things are still gonna have a nice deep canopy regardless.

Just a question if you've got time to explain alg if not when using enzymes in coco is that something different that the usual brand of nutes include as additives or?

Hey Dirtbag , As far as yeast goes at one time yes we used specific ones , that was a while go , what they were my memory ain't that good lol , the only time I use it now is if I have a really light feeder, I'll slack way back on the salts and use that with some other stuff to finish up.

Coco vs Hydro lol not sure I want to get into that, but here is what I'll say , I used everything over the years extensively, and not in basement rooms, and with smart people that knew their shit, we compared everything , and coco can grow know questions and a lot of people can grow better in it then hydro, it is easier, but dialed in coco system vs a dialed in hydro , coco can't keep up, I've done this test and proved many guys wrong on many times. hydro was my thing I was running a bucket system 20+ years ago anyhow and guys I knew long before that, I don't even use hydro or coco anymore I have no need for myself ,I run a sunshine with some coco in it , but bro your grow looks sweet keep it going
