This is my first real grow!

I gave a weekly dose to my girls the first round, like a tap per gallon Fr a single feeding then after that one I've been giving a 1/4 tap every watering.

Also cameras and LEDs are a funky thing. They can reflect and pick up IR and shit our eyes don't. Did you know LEDs are on n fact blinking something like 60x per second. Way too fast for us to see but a camera can capture at just the right moment. This is why some LEDs make a flicker when recorded. As long as you can incorporate the info about the discoloration and ID it properly then you are on your way.
Unfortunately, I can see the flicker in LEDs. How much just depends on the light. I can't use those christmas light strings because the light is disorienting to me. It really messes with my head. The 600 watt grow light I borrowed for the 1 gallon challenge is a trip. I can't handle it more than a minute or two before things get weird. I can also hear "silent" alarms in stores. Not a pleasant experience.

Ohhhhh man you got one of "those" conditions! I do not envy that! The very worst oddity I saw on a documentary was a young girl that was cursed with hearing wireless transmission. She took her own life because of the inescapable noise.

Wow that is so sad and tragic! I learn to adapt. I either remove the stimulus or remove myself from it if that's the only option. Most LED bulbs these days are tolerable but I do waste a chunk of change on bulbs I find I can't use once I get them home. The more diffused the light, the better. Human perception is a trip man. In the early 80s I was doing research on human perception. My focus was primarily olfactory perception and human chemosignalling but the field , in general, was pretty bizarre.

@mstrpkl

Apart from Cal/Mag, will you be feeding it any additional fertilizer or will you continue to rely on soil nutrition?

So the 2 purple cow additives that i bought dont seem to have any P in them. Neither does the calmag. So iv been looking into some organic bloom nutrients, i know @AZreefer talked about one he uses. I read your method as well and that was awesome, but i wouldnt be able to incorporate that into this plant right now. Do you have any recommendations?

Dry feed it. You don't need to brew a tea. Especially with the bio charge you picked up. That is the only reason I brew the tea is the microbes you added with the bio charge. You can get and organic bloom and booster and it won't fuck with your soil. Do not get a salt based bloom and booster. That will fuck your soil up. I like roots organic just because I've heard good shit about it everywhere it's mentioned. Gaia green is another that has great reviews. An organic bloom AND a bloom booster. Do you need the booster, no. But 2 weeks after adding it on my girls I noticed serious swelling. I was also told that the last 2 weeks of flower all we should feed is booster for the ripening of the buds.

The important thing is organic because that's what your soil needs.

Yea im definitely concerned about adding some salty shit to my soil, i want this to be a completely organic soil based grow. Il see if my local garden shop carries that, if not il just order on amazon, thanks dude!

I'm saying the same about all organic. Why tf not if it's ours

So I kind of differ on the whole synthetic vs organic from most farmers.

If I was growing outdoors I would certainly use organic methods mostly for soil conditioning and getting the soil the best it can be for the repeated grows I will be doing over the years. True organics takes a long time to develop but if you will be using the same soil then it is a great way to start your plants in the best media they can be in.

My problem with organics is with growing in pots indoors. The longest our plants will be in the media is around 5 months. Not enough time to truly develop the benefits of organics.

A Botanist explained that what matters most is what happens at the ion level meaning when the microbes present the nutrient molecule to the plants roots in the rhizosphere. It's a give and take with the roots taking in whatever it needs that the microbes are presenting and the roots expelling sugars that the microbes use to eat. It is a symbiotic relationship much like the mycorrhizae fungus that helps our root systems supercharge their uptake.

What this means is regardless of whether the ion was derived naturally through microbial breakdown or synthetically through the Bosch-Haber process the ion is the same so no real advantage to organic fertilizers other than if you object to the high energy usage the Bosch-Haber process uses.

Salt based fertilizers do present issues in regard to soil alkalinity but this can be easily remedied by allowing runoff to wash away whatever salt build up may happen in the soil from repeated feedings.

I'm not a big fan of powdered ferts as these don't allow me to steer my plant as easily or fix issues. That's not to say that they aren't effective. They do work well but for my style of grow I prefer more control over my plants and what they are eating.

Yep thats exactly what im finally gonna be getting today from a local garden shop lol small towns can be a pain in the ass sometimes, everythings always closed when i get off work
I hear ya there! I have 1 local farm / feed store luckily Carries just about eveything I need… just always closed when I’m off 🤣 few times I’ve done 90mph for 30 minutes straight to get there from work to get a bag of promix 🤣

If I don’t get it there it’s a good hour away to the next store 🤣

Perfect example is when people record a helicopter flying and the camera matches frame rate (or shutter speed) matches the choppers blades and they look like they are either stationary or just barely moving

Last run I went full organic till top dress, (normally I finish out fully organic nowadays but wanted to test a theory) week 4ish, still did my top dress but started running liquid neuts at 1/3 reccomended rate and had a sick run 😁

Will definitely repeat it!

How do you guys get you small plants so bushy I see so many young plants like five inches tall and bushy as hell lol do you keep topping it? All the lil plants I've ever grown outdoors always grow straight up like a lil skinny twig lol

Combo organic and salt? Interesting.

They aren't incompatible. "Salts" merely save your microbiome a step or two in the breakdown of organic matter into inorganic matter, aka "salts". If I'm doing combiganic, which is basically just utilizing microbes in concert with inroganic nutes, then I first use only 1/3 of the recommended dosage and then feed that amount every 3-4 days, instead of just one weeky feeding. I tend to get more steady growth without the spurts and lulls of weekly feeding. Combine that with regular inoculations and you've got a really efficient system in place. They use microbes to clean up hazmat sites so I think they can handle a few "salts". Lol

I have nothing against inorgsnics, I just hate all the measuring, mixing and pH adjustment crap. I just prefer to water and get on with shit.

Dude i couldnt agree more lol and being a noob who works multiple jobs and doesnt have much time to fuck with things, i definitely like the water only method hahaha all of you guys are badass growers though, im really loving this info

I topped node 6 off and used a trellis net to make the plant grow outward instead of upward lol otherwise id have a funky lookin plant right now haha

Yo does anyone have any experience using drip systems? Would it be a bad idea to mix my nutes into 0.5L of water and slow feed that as my drip system waters? Or would it be better to just mix at the recommended rate and just hand water when feeding?

Also heres a little timelapse of my plant over a couple days lol you can see shes gettin thirsty, its pretty cool to watch
