Is that the 600w mh solis you were talking about? Shit looks frosty as fuck
Yo @SeaF0ur what do you think about these bulbs vs 315 cmh.
First time utilizing coconut water in a drench. Pretty happy with the results. The bigger of youngest ones got their first drench tonight too, we'll see what happens.
Thinking about grabbing a 315W CMH for my old magnetic ballast. Any suggestions from those who run em? With regards to brand and pricing? Do they run at the same heat as a 400w MH?
Thank you so much for this! I know I have read that the reason they come is wet soil but I refused to believe that I am over watering bc my plants are thriving. Bc I am using airpots and i have very good air circulation the soil does dry out very quickly. I usually water everyday but not a lot. I know and have gone 2 or 3 days in between watering and know that the plant can take it but it didn't look nearly as happy as she does when i do what im doing, ya know? IDK i gues i will really let them dry out as much as possible and just keep them alive but since i am at day 27 of flower i am worried what all the dry stress is going to do to the final product...FUCK THESE FUCKER!!!..lol...thanks for the advice!!!@Lazerus00 Those guys can be pesky huh? Back when I was first doing this and still figuring things out (9-10 yrs ago); I got into a period where I had those darn gnats all the time. This was well before allowing myself to read online or what not; so I had no clue what they were. One of the few things I had tried was Neem and as well I had done a bug spray formula from Jerry Baker (tea, soap, nicotine, Listerine etc). Also I guess I had done the predatory lady bugs, who loved dying on the hps's haha.
Finally I broke down and had to find out somehow what these little bugs were. So I contacted a local University and got to a dept. that would test / identify bugs. I took a specimen in and got to talk to the head professor there.
So, I asked "What are they?"
He chuckled and replied "They are fungus gnats"......"It means the soil is too wet"......"Just because a soil looks dry on top doesn't mean that it's dry"...."If you let your soil dry out between waterings, they will go away on their own"
I thanked him and left; albeit not feeling overjoyed at the answer I got heh. I started letting my soils get drier before adding water, sometimes right at the edge of drooping (happens right). At any rate, in about 3-4 weeks, they were gone!!!
Never saw any fungus gnats after. This was also when I set one of my golden rules for myself; "that a plant will not be wet longer than 24hrs". I alter my watering quantity and medium water holding to attain this. One exception is at up-potting; I will allow 3 day period there I guess.
-I have seen gnats one time since then and that was when I switched to doing things right and setup a 1hr drip system. Since soil was moist all the time, the gnats came back. I stopped the drip after testing specific elements and the gnats went away.
Unfortunately, I cannot suggest the best "treatment" as none seemed to work for me. Save for letting soil be drier.
Yes I have used Gnatrol and the Microbe Lift BMC has the same active larva killing ingredient as gnatrol so i just use that now. I had them gone basically but then i stupidly got lazy and didn't keep up treatment and they came back with a vengence!! I got them back under control and my yellow traps are only catching a few a day but I am convinved that these fuckers have built up an immunity to the products i am using..lol....im not sure if its even possible for the larvi to build up an immunity to the shit..what eves, i think i got them this time, just gotta keep up treatment ...The real reason i am concerned is bc i am beefing up my operation with more plants more pots more soil and i dont want this to become a thing that controls my life!!!@Lazerus00 I'm pretty sure you're not doing something right to still have these gnats. Have you tried gnatrol yet? Seriously I apply twice a week when I see flyers, and they're gone within 2 weeks, 3 tops.
I can have an infestation of fungus gnats without overwatering because I live in a high density fungus gnat area. LolThank you so much for this! Thanks, this would work if I wasn't using airpots. Im not sure if my area is known for having lots of them but i have to assume no since we have crazy winters (usually)...Idk my first round i din't have not 1 single bug the whole time....I think if i keep working on them ill get em gone, but thank you for the suggestions!I can have an infestation of fungus gnats without overwatering because I live in a high density fungus gnat area. They are everywhere around my house and I can't keep them out of my garden.
I use a mechanical barrier method.
I encase the lower holes on my pots in smart pots and I top my soil with a layer of weedblock landscape fabric an gnatgnix mixed 20:1 with diamataceous earth. View attachment 559801
Slide the airpot down into an appropriately sized smartpot, same difference. Then topdress. Thanks, this would work if I wasn't using airpots.
