Heres the deal as I see it... HPS are initially more intense... but they seem to degrade much faster in my experience, whereas the CMH bulbs maintain higher intensity longer...
they give a tight stacking in veg and a good frosty finish... the white light is much easier to live under than the dull orange...
I'd say final totals are comparable, but admittedly, since I smoke the majority of what I grow, I dont use scales often. aside from weighing sacks from my jars... I like them enough where unless someone gets the led cost down per diode on the good ones, I'll likely go to gravitas or epaps, but I'll keep vert 860's as supplemental/mixed spectrum...

Here ya go
Much easier than me typing it ;)

That was a good read thanks for that gave me some ideas for other projects.

It run 2 315s to equal the 1k and still save on eltricity.. Without being long winded spectrum is unmateched and if u look at people like homebrew420 and many many others that's all they use. I feel that cmh is the best possible light for indoor if cost is out of the equation.

He'll ya I'm workin on filling my flower room with these also going to try and run 4 x 315w cmh around my 2 x 1000w dual arc's in a 15 x 15 room ?should I switch to hps? And thus eliminating my two side lights. 600w

Seen Shantibabas article in a treating yourself mag it's crazy here's a pic of a layout of a roomView attachment 522755 View attachment 522756crazy stuff man the article is killer . Treating yourself issue #36-2012

Oh man you have no idea I know a guy In my area who has an octagon shape room that looks just like that one and a NFT system from 6"pvc to match, and I will tell you what if you can fit or afford to build this room there is absolutely no comparison that can be made for food use, power use, water use and flower quantity, plus the quality is up there as well he has had this site/room going for three years and i have never seen him fail or he hides it well and flips real fast if he does you honestly shouldnt be able to fuck anything up if you have hydro experiencee. The absolute best part about it is he can easily boast a guaranteed 10lb every harvest it just absolutely blows me away I truly wish I had the room but I simply do not most people do not infact need a double car garage and ten foot roof to do it correctly...... Still Completely fascinating to see

@420 lyfePpP the first picture is to blurry to see can you repost a clear one

My buddy SG1 has been doin octagon rooms for years... swears by em
this is from a rebuild... he's since cut it into 2 rooms with 4k each... passive exhaust, forced air from those floor vents...

bad lil setup... 45 the walls and the ceiling and the whole room is your hood...

upon closer view... the last pic looks like 1/2 of the new setup with 8k total in 2 4k partitions... so that'd be his.... 4th? rebuild..... dunno.... bad ass either way...

Seen a post bout the less light more weight. I got the skunk mag and it's pretty cool and I wanna try just know I can't change the schedule now. But it's legit and a good read

talks bout how plants receive excessive light conditions daily

Yeah that is a good idea, I saw on another post they hung the Mylar real loose so the fans blowing would ripple the Mylar to eliminate hotspots....

: O Dear god How could this happen it would seem we all have been doing this wrong and unnecessarily expensive then dunnit... 《busts out wallet finds it empty》 weeell...... nahhhhh we got this couldn't Beee, Dam you why must you make me want stuff i was happy with the implementation that I couldn't do it in a 15 x15

Hey could almost see someone doin those actions !lol . Funny thanks

SHit connection . I understand how it works but if less is better . Why do plants flourish in the summer sun when the light hours are at there max . Here it's sixteen hours of daylight .

That's basically the glr. I now a few that do it and swear by it. Just isn't for me. Lol. But nothing wrong with giving it a go.

I'm really liking the 315. The cost is a little steep up front but well worth it in the end. I like hps better than dual arc to be honest. I ran dual arcs a few years ago and what I'm using now def beats them. But it seems like ur fine. If it's working why switch. Respect.

Yes this is true. However when you think about the way hps lights work and the Kelvin they run at certain wattage compared to the suns spectrum you begin to understand what is being said. Now I am not saying persay that less lighting is more but if you look into a 1k hps reaction to dimming it becomes clear that less really is more, specifically more available for your plants rather than actual light because when dimmed a 1k will run a much higher Kelvin temp and less watts. So by running your lights at less wattage say two 1000w at 500w makes for more light your plants use than just a single 1k hps at full power

Refer to the thread

The truth about dimmable ballasts they touch on this some there but better to read the full story on the other THC site I cannot mention.

Im telling you the 1k in my 5x5 w the 600w vert is fucking killing it.
You got a pic of how it is setup? Im just curious of how you would center the vertical light in the middle with you 1k hps above...and also what kinda bulb you got in the 600?

Well I was more referencing the color spectrum of the duals with the cmh wouldn't it be to much blue for good flowering and currently have two dual with one hps in center. I also have the hoods turned opposite direction from each other so the moguls are back to back this way both the blue ends of the duals are up against the hps in the center! I wouldn't use just duals anymore either I mean they do preform very well alone just better with more red. I agree some hps are better than duals but not many what are you currently running for hps that you like better?

Talking to the converted here man I run a led in middle with two hps each side at 250w veg and 400 w flower . I use the gavita enhanced disable bulbs .

Here are some photos of the original 55 gallon planter quite genius really and if you only put so many holes in it like 8-12 and run vertical lighting around it you actually get some amazing results for the space it takes to grow that many plants I bet you could even do a ton more than that if you could provide the light and control the temp in such a situation.
