To early for cloning?

Just FYI "topping" your plant would be to simply pinch the leaves that are growing at the very top (thus topping). You just use your finger nails and literally pinch the little sprouts at the top off. This will promote branching and bushiness. This will create more opportunities to make clones from side branches rather than hacking the top of your plant off. Sounds like since you cut the top your plants will branch out now and you'll see what topping can do.
Just an add: The branches at the bottom have the best chance of rooting in a clone situation or at least that's what Jorge Cervantes says.
