Ultrasonic cleaner for tincture extraction?

Hey. Thanks for the reply.

Yes. As I understand, the device does create heat. To mitigate that, I would run the sonicator intermittently. Also, the solution would be at sub-zero during the process. So that will mitigate some heat as well.

I have also considered an ultrasonic cleaner. The vessel containing the solution would be placed in the machine. Cheaper. But I dont know if it would be as effective or efficient.
I'm looking diligently for sonicators and they are hard to come by. I can find plenty that max out at 50ml, which is too small to do anything worthwhile. I can get an ultrasonic bath no problem for cheap, but have the same fear as you. Is it effective and efficient? Is it even worth getting?

Interesting thread. I’ve long thought about the jewelry cleaner but its size ended that quest and I hadn’t looked further. The cleaner from Harbor Freight just might work well for me.

I’m setting here burning some RSO and thinking about starting another batch, some form of agitation will be added to the process for sure

The tech is getting more home friendly

Hard to say if prices are going to go up or down making the decision to purchase nearly impossible
And its not just the price but the reliability and efficiency that are unknowns at this time

My point is that we are at a crossroads where commercial and homemade cannabis products can be indistinguishable
And the manufacturers are taking notice
Ousia labs sells to large and small operations as well as a counter top version for home

Essential oils and the cosmetics industry have lots of good info on extraction and emulsion
You can pull bits and pieces to help polish your DIY

My dilemma, besides extraction, is emulsion
I want to do nano emulsion to see if onset is as fast as the industry claims
That's where the sonication comes in to play
Not sure if I want to spend a $1000(US) or more just to try it on a simple syrup with gums and have it seize up
Expensive one time lesson

Not sure where you live, but if you live in or near a biotech city check out the auctions. Labs are always going out of business and stuff is sold for pennies on the dollar. I’m watching a few sonicators right now, but they always have ultrasonic baths. High end, lab grade, rates for tens of thousands of hours, cost a few thou brand new, go for less than $100. An auction I’m watching just had a VWR go for $30. That would significantly lighten the cost for the experiment. Then you’d have an ultrasonic bath, and I feel like that would be one of those things that every few years would come in outrageously handy once, and then again in a few more years.

www.ssllc.com if you live in New England. Got a lot of high end lab ware for cheap.

I'm in Boston
I'll check out the site
The site I started on was not into the tech so not much interest

Need a few pieces for a lab still as well as the sonication equipment

If you are bored, think it's on Saturday
They have them several times a year

The CO2 extraction device has my interest
Make a lot of syrup, oil and topical creams
The taste of a heated extraction is not for me

Hell yeah man, that sounds cool! Maine isn’t so far.

I need a few pieces too, chasing a sonicator right now.
