I wonder how long the cheaper leds last as far as intensity.

With HPS bulbs you would change every year. Easy

I have a led going 5 years running 18 hours still vegging my plants well.
I have a light meter I use, there cheap and pretty good.

Nothing wrong with a cheap led, I use a viperspectra 600w reflector series and a 110 California light works bloom booster cob, these came out ok.
