Good morning Merc!
She's looking totally different from last week, showing colors in some places,,,losing it in others.
As far as the DWC, it seems I have mixed emotions about it...a learning experience for sure! It truly pushes the limit on what I thought was accelerated growth. But at the same time, i now realize that it requires MORE attention.
I guess there is the option of just letting it do what it would do, but I feel that would have probably turned into a three foot block of mold.
I had trouble keeping up with trimming! !!! Also, humidity is more difficult to control. So, it took a little to get dialed in on VPD with my current set up.
It is very nice to be able to see immediate results when you change something. So, as far as the overall , it was simpler. No guess work about what was going into the plant, checking ph was very easy. Which is an eye opener to solving issues in my soil grows. More study on that to come...
I would recommend everyone do a DWC trial. I learned more with this one plant than I have in a very long time! I will try it again at some point, Maybe on some autos... not sure.
I am planning a living soil grow next, I have been prepping it in the background, and is almost ready for launch. I am going to be using 15 gallon fabric pots and a Blumat watering system. I was able to obtain some seed from Eighth Brother, so I must hold up my end of the deal and fully document the grow, so I will probably start a diary thread.
Looks like your off to a good start Merc! I've always wanted to try some of the banana genetics!

Looking good F1. Got that heavy frosted look! Looks like it might be a few more weeks before your harvest?

The top flowers are showing some amber, still not enough to chop. Im going to see what it looks like next weekend... will have to wait and see. I won't take it until it's ready, but im getting antsy! You know how it is. My cupboard is bare, well almost. Let's call it critically low!

Thought to share tent readings. Usually 90% above most. Not liking this tent thing. Too picky. I’m outdoors over half a century. This is today’s reading.

If you can hang it somewhere in a closet then when the stems snap when you break them move to a paper bag or in a dresser drawer that you can sometimes leave cracked open but paper bag is good let it sweat .slow cure is best .

Hey Josh will your tent be empty? That's what some use when drying...60 degrees @ 60%

Just be careful with the humidity... it will mold fast!... airflow is your friend! So if you can have a fan going on it if you are going to use the basement...I'd hate to see your work go to waste.

Everyone has their own process they use, this is mine. This is also assuming you can control the environment inside your tent and grow room.

I use the same tent I grew the plants in. It is so much easier to control the environment inside the tent as opposed to anywhere else. It would be a shame to spend 15 weeks growing and watching over your plants to ruin them in the last 8 – 14 days. You will only lose the 8 to 14 days in your tent which is a small price to pay. Just cut off each stem, and most of the leaves and hang in your (lights off) tent with 1 small fan blowing lightly but not on the plants. Ideally the temperature should be 60°F and the humidity should be 60RH. Since I can’t achieve exactly a 60°F and 60RH, I dry mine inside my tent at about 69°F and 60RH and my dry is done in about 9 days. At 8 or 9 days I pull about a ½ oz out of the tent put it in a ziplock baggie with a cheap hygrometer for a day to check it. When hygrometer is between 58RH and 62RH I do a final trim in a room that is approximately 60RH and jar the buds with a hygrometer in each jar. I burp each jar once a day for 15 minutes the first week checking the hygrometer before opening each jar to burp. If the hygrometer showed a little low I will add a ¾” square piece of paper towel with a drop of water and check again the next day. If it showed a little high just pour out buds and let dry for an additional 15 minutes in a lower RH room before rejarring. After the first week is complete burp twice a week for 2 – 3 weeks then once a month.

Hope I didn’t leave anything out.

My neighborhood has a lot of Ailanthus, Tree of Heaven. Terrible invasive trees that grow and spread almost as bad as bamboo and support various nasty pests. Now the Spotted Lantern Fly nymphs have infested the grape vine. They will suck all the juice out of it if they can. I've been squishing them by the hundreds but every morning there's more. Hope they are disinterested in cannabis.

I've started using ARBER Bio insecticide it all natural for fungus gnats it working great I think it was would also help with the lantern flies but I've seen them everywhere just haven't messed with my weed plants so far but I did give them a treatment anyway.
