Flip day for 2 Puna Buddaz in 2x4x5 tent, about 8 weeks old, filled in the trellis pretty good, probably 60 or 70 tops, plants are 14 inches tall at flip.

Welcome @IgnorRayMuss. Been going to Black Water Falls, Lost River since I was a kid. Beautiful country.
Love growing outdoors. Got 2 off to a good start in the garden and 2 filling in the trellis in the tent. The issue that has gotten to my outdoor grows is the little tomato worms/caterpillars. Gets in the buds and they rot. Gets in the tomatoes and, yuck. Had those three years in a row. Any advice about how to tackle those? I tried Bt last year but they seemed unaffected.

Have you tried Dipel dust? Usually I will dust in early blooming before sticky trichomes appear. It's a poison derived from BT and safe for use in the early weeks of blooming. Follow up with spraying BT every 10 days. BTW this for outdoor applications only. This shouldn't bother your predators.

Thank you @IgnorRayMuss for your suggestion. I found a different method that I'm testing with my zucchini and it seems to be working well. If it continues to protect the zucchini from squash vine borers I'm going to try it on the cannabis next. I think the borers and the tomato worm caterpillars both arrive by night flying moths so I have my fingers crossed that I've found a good solution. If it works I'll post the results.

A few ladybugs is all it takes to keep numbers under control or some neem or capt. Jacks will work to. Bugs are just a fact of life for the outdoor grower.

Take care not to kill your beneficial bugs in the process.

Looks like this guy has moved into my greenhouse. It's more than welcome, free pest control. Toads will eat pretty much anything they can catch.

Okay I used the shop vac outside on the spotted lantern fly nymphs with excellent results. There were about 15 or 20 all grouped together on the stem. I used the thin wand to try to get them as best I could. I'm sure a lot hopped away but I keep going back every hour and there are fewer and fewer. It sucked up some leaves but those are the ones at the bottom close to the stem and they're in shade anyway. I'm feeling a lot better now about the situation. So, spotted lantern fly nymphs on your cannabis? Try the shop vac!

Shit. Fuck the gods. Both of these plants were male. I'm certain I bought feminized seeds. But that's not what I got. Mortals have no magic so I move on. Took all the leaves from these and liquefied them in a blender with water and molasses and mixed that canna agua fresca back into the soil with some other goodies for next grow. Ordered some Jack Herer auto seeds online Sunday, received in the mail Wednesday, popped in shot glasses and they germinated in two days, Got seeds with tails in soil on Friday morning. Back on schedule for some fresh harvest before September. You'll have to imagine wife's sidelong glance at all this news but take my word, it would have made a good YT short.
Don't know about outdoor plants yet. I got my magnifying glass out hoping to see a pistil on them. They're almost 4 feet tall so far and bushy. Probably won't know their sexual preference for another month or more. Come on gods. I beg forgiveness.

What a bummer about the males. I'm 3wks behind cause of zero germination on a 3pk of auto seeds, i got them replaced though. Still......i feel your pain. Thank goodness my 4 photoperiods are doing well there the same height as yours right now.

Looks like a good frosting. Can't see the trichs at that magnification. I see a lot of brown pistils and no white ones so it looks pretty far along. What do you think?

Don't know your philosophy but If it was my plant and I wasn't sure if it was done, I would cut off a thumbnail sized bud, stick it in the microwave for 12 seconds, let it dry in a windowsill for a day, and then smoke it. Time it to see how long buzz lasts. Then evaluate based on that information. It's not going to tell you how it could change with more time or about curing outcome, but it can be reassuring to know that at a minimum, your going to get good elevation. For some it's enough to know they're in the ballpark. For others it means starting up a whole new field of interest in macro photography to see exactly what those trich heads are doing! Which kind of grower are you?

There are some relativety inexpensive mocroscope available on amazon that attach to a cell phone or computer that takes super clear closeups that many use.
Similar to this
https://www.amazon.com/Microscope-Skybasic-Magnification-Compatible-Smartphone/dp/B07DVFBVPF/ref=sr_1_85?crid=3GJF6EG0547ID&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.yDmvk93uYlZRvuCHRXqvpN-IRg4EZupkzqUm6BzXTc9-oRyWYMgVIGICz_CEk7JuEyfiNm2Fulnbq8zfx8mZm2Qfgsaq-33HwAfrCf6UTDjeCLC247OPxQRZ1rttgGEutEDe2STVLQCwj3L1X2mh5TDFjHzU2psSLZ79nBO2_0Y.IIw7Bet4a8iXBvQqceN_bqVbuC-1xBt8vs27Y0vtG7w&dib_tag=se&keywords=USB+Digital+Microscope&qid=1782223973&sprefix=usb+digital+microscope,aps,146&xpid=8pJCctXJVRQv8&th=1

Not sure if its a good one as the one I use is not available any more.

Digital microscopes are also handy for identifying spider mites and other pests too small to see with naked eyes. These are some pics of mites from my greenhouse grow last year. Little bastards.

I agree entirely with @MercDod and @F1cultivator on preferred drying methods for protecting the best attributes of your weed, but for some drying at 60f and 60rh is not logistically or financially possible so it bears saying that for the first 10,000 years of people using weed it was just hung out to dry and that was okay. As long as you can avoid having your weed get moldy your still going to be enjoying the hell out of it. As capitalism has taken hold of everything about cannabis there has developed a must have gadget for every part of the process. Not saying there's anything wrong with with owning an AI powered tent with light, heat, humidity and fan control, or an electric/plastic/metal device to germinate seeds or an electric/plastic/metal device to dry/cure weed. I guess what I'm saying is it's just as cool, and your going to get just as high growing with the tech of 100 years ago as it is to follow the wave behind the influencers. There's money being made out there on people's desires that's for sure. Ew, that was very ranty wasn't it? Sorry. Is my new light financing China's military buildup? I worry.

Man you are so right about them making and trying to capitalize on every little detail like build a soil they sell one thing and try to sell you one thing and tell you that you need three other products to make it work and a lot of stuff is really redundant .

It's caveat emptor out there in the new cannabis frontier.

If you are still having problems with pest after you try whatever it is that you are trying I just got a catalog from ARBICO Organics it's all packed with Biological pest controls they have BTS in its best form plus a whole plethora of stuff including lady bugs praying mantis eggs and beneficial bacteria , for your roots They also have fertilizer neem oil which I hate but they have form of it that doesn't have oil anyway the have the whole 9 yards with decent prices. And they are geared toward cannabis & hemp they have everything OMRI Certified .You can find online let your fingers do some more walking.Lol ! Just ask for the catalog it's free.
