I have a friend in Staunton, Virginia, I gave her 2 starter plants last May and we went down to check out a music event there this past weekend. Her plants have done pretty nicely, about 5 feet tall and full with nice colas but unfortunately the morning we got there and went to look at them, the hurricane remnants of Debby had hit overnight and toppled both plants to the ground. She got them staked up again and then there's hurricane Helene coming up. Tuff season for growing cannabis in the mid-Atlantic region this year.
My own garden is still producing tomatoes and peppers but the tomatoes are all splitting from so much rain. The cannabis. I can't decide if I should cut down the outdoor cannabis and get some kind of harvest or wait it out and see if it will mature properly with hardly any sunshine to speak of. The colas are about half the size I expect but the pistils are all brown now so I cut half a dozen colas and put them in a space to dry and I left the rest out there to the whims of mother nature. I have my fingers crossed that the sun will come out tomorrow, like the little red head sings, and get these colas on track. At this moment I'm glad I have an indoor grow too because that might be the bigger producer this season.

We all send our prayers and hope to all you folks in the NE states who got the blunt of hurricane. It's a helpless feeling watching and unable to help those cut off. It felt like this to me when the forest fires raged not far from my old homestead. Just looked from a distance as homes got destroyed. I wish the WH would quit spending money outside the USA on wars and just keep investesing on our country needs.

Yeah, Helene battered my plants over the weekend. So, Friday I check the weather forecast and it showed rain around 9am and then again at noon, I was out of town but figured OK, a couple hours rain but primarily dry should be fine. Get home Friday late in the day to crazy winds and rain, the wind literally picked up the wooden structure I had made to protect the plants and tossed it across the yard, it's 8' x 16' x 5' so not exactly small.

Most of the plants had taken a beating, I ended up harvesting 2 of them (I had checked on them earlier in the week and most trichs were milky, had planned to leave it a little longer, but with the weather pulled them). That leaves me with 3 plants out there, 2 are looking pretty good although now definitely leaning to one side, the smallest of the plants though I am not sure if I will get any yield from it. It is really thick with bud, moreso than any of the other plants, but I already pulled 2 big chunks with rot and we have had almost non stop rain now since Friday morning so I have not even been able to get out there and rig up some kind of cover. So, it's just taking a soaking with no end in sight and with the bud being so thick the damp is just setting right in there.

Decided next year I am growing in pots.

Checked the remaining 3 plants again today, one of them was showing a bunch of amber trichomes, pulled it into the drying room. The other tall plant looks OK, not great, but needs a few more days and the smallest I think is going to be a complete bust and possibly all lost to rot.

Had a break from rain this morning, so shook the plants out as much as I could, but those remaining 2 are about to get more rain from now until I think Saturday unfortunately.

Southwest va here. Few minutes from Tennessee line. The 8 days of high humidity and rain plus the hurricane just about wiped my outdoor grow out. Mold hit me really fast. Lost 2/3 of my grow to it. Just setting here on day 7 of no power. Not complaining though within an hour of me east and west people lost everything. People houses cars livestock everything. Not sure how we was spared but we are very fortunate. Please pray for these people. Doesn't look like they are gonna get any help anytime soon.

So many good deals on seeds right now! Between the discounts and freebies, it may well be an outstanding year.
Going with autoflowers for outside this year. Got some creme de la chem from mephisto. Hope it's good. I primarily grow indoors, and last year was my first outside attempt. That rain in late September early October, the catapillers, spider mites, botrytis. I now see i was a newborn baby in a new land last year. Autoflowers and mold/mildew/pest resistant strains are in the battle plan this year. I also learned the very important lesson about not wearing the same clothes to your indoor grow that you were in when messing with the outdoor plants.
Hope 2025 is a good year for everyone. I hope everyone is blessed with money in the bank, and plants that stank!

one more in the DC Metro area. The summer just passed was challenging but usually the area is nice for growing outside. Right now my winter grow is starting it's stretch.

So what is everyone planning for outside this season? I'm going to try taking a break from indoor and maybe throw some autos out in 5 gallon fabric pots this year. Had some fem photos last year and all that rain just rotted what the caterpillars didn't get. I have a better IPM this year. What's better about it you ask? Well I didn't have any IPM last year so has to be an improvement. I have some creme de la chem from mephisto and chem n kush from brothers grimm. Hope they do a little better. Should finish before monsoon season hits anyway. ✌

I'm not sure yet myself, they will be clones from one of the 7 strains in my garden.

Is this an outdoor growers forum only? I’m in N Va and grow one plant at a time… one plant provides me more weed than I can ever smoke, I get to enjoy all the fun of growing without having to grow multiple plants. How you all trim 4 or more plants blows my mind. Trimming one is too much work for me,

Planning to grow Brothers Grimm Northern Lights x C99 next, diary to come soon

Fredericksburg Va here. Can't wait for the outdoor season to start. Probably kick it off with some auto's out in the greenhouse but the main event will probably be some of @Trustfall genetics, either clones or seeds.

Here I am 5 weeks later putting on some flower. The Blue Dream in the center in the picture above, I was trying to reverse but it didn't take so I tossed that one. The remaining 2 are Blue Haze.

For the upcoming summer season I have some auto seeds that a friend gave me that I'm going to grow in this tent. Outside I will put something in the ground but I haven't decided what yet. Northern Virginia has been like jungle conditions, interspersed with weeks of drought the last few years. I prefer the heavy buzz and the growing characteristics of Indica but I think maybe Sativa would do better under these conditions. What's your advice?

I can dig it. The first time I grew outside I had a trim party for pounds of weed. Blisters and the lessons learned. But I did give away ounces to everyone who helped. We had a good time. That was fun.

No, it's not an outdoors only thread. Hey, post an update on the nl x c99. I picked up a tester pack of those and heka strain. I used to enjoy both nl and c99 back in the day. I also have some seeds from romulan genetics I'm looking forward to as well.
