The problem is a walk fridge will get mold just from being dark and cool and moist.
Then you add that it is old,wood. And he cant get behind it.
That tells me there is most likely a sh*t ton of mold in there already.
Killz primer is also a great idea. Anything to slow it down.
But I would like to completely Seal it in after wards.IMO

yeah there is most definitely some mold and rot going on. Here's a picture of a top corner that has some directly visible. I'd imagine the walls only hide more of this.

Just use garage floor epoxy, lol. Seal that shiz right in, hehehe...

Wow thank's for those pics.
If it was me I would do all those step's + panda paper.
The only thing that worrie's me about the kills or epoxy's is the same problem with using a lot of duct tape.
Marijuana is a leaching plant. It will absorb toxins,glues etc from the air or material's near it.
Check out marijuana plant's in chernoble.
That is also why plywood or pvc glues are bad.
