Week 5 Veg looking rough, slower than a seedling

I'm pretty sure you're just gonna grow root with those leaves right there. πŸ˜‚ good luck. Experimenting is always fun.

Funny thing about me is an ounce of my homegrown lasts 6 months or more. I smoke very little weed, so supply isnt my goal. I just like growing and seeing what will happen.

This is a Master Kush regular seedling I found in buds I bought from a local dispensery. Its my first time growing regular seeds so I have a flip of the coin coming later to see if its male or female. So basically, I wasnt expecting success from this grow, just thought I'd fool around with some seedlings for a while.

Might be cool to see a plant topped at the second node and what happens. I've never seen it done on any of the forums.

The top left plant in this pick has been topped to 16 tops and it’s week five right now. So you need to revisit some studies. Ask anyone here we will help in anyway. I post the pic to show where you could and should be.

Looking great ! Yeah, Ive had some succesful mainline grows, I really like the symmetry and equal cola height that comes with a mainline...

This is just me fooling around with free seeds.

So I've been trying to pass this trick around cause it saves much time on this method... shout out to Mr
GROWIT on youtube for this...

He topped at 3rd node... kept 2nd node and stripped everything down under... I feel like you get your 4 main branches quicker and less stress... I only had to top 2x to get my 8 arms

Saw one guy on youtube doing 512 colas, not very efficient. I assume roots was too small to support all buds as some ended very small. Think that toping more than 8+ times will be counterproductive.

I wanna do same as u but will top 6 times.

Saw the same thing... very counter productive unless in an outdoor setting with amazing fertile ground already... I find depe ding on size you do... 8 is perfect for indoors

Not necessarily gentlefolk…..I mean, these things are gonna be ridiculous in 4 weeks….not sure counterproductive is the term here. I top the way I do, to create maximum cuttings and a self supporting canopy……

Im only four grows in, but learned the hard way that a plant can get out of control quick. Here is one plant in flower with way too many colas. In fact I had to chop half of the lesser buds away which was a real shame and waist. This was done without topping, just bending the mainstem 90 degrees... (1st pic Durban Poison)

Week 10 F5

I like to create the highest quality buds that I can using a very small 18 inch x 18 inch space. 8 Cola's in a manifold (4 per side in a circle) keeps the buds even in height and stops any of the buds from becoming "king of ths hill". I'm definately sacrificing some quantity for quality, but its a trade off I'm willing to take.

Here was my first attempt at a manifold (mid flower), I made mistakes, but it still worked pretty well. Hoping to do better next grow using a circle of 8 colas. (2nd pic Northern Lights). I pulled the buds too far out of center as well which was a big mistake,,

Dam never seen this! I didnt realize the nodes grew at these angles though, I thought they all stacked in the same place....

One last pic just for the hell of it.... This is my wild Durban Poison grow at harvest, 2.5 ounces 18 inch x 18 inch x36 ! less than 100 watts of light. I think its pretty decent considering my limitations. The bud is amazing.

Im still not sure if manifolding out performs bending the stem (LST), but I like the symmetry of a manifold. I dont like the extra time mainlining takes, so Im still not sure. (maybe an extra week or two for Manifold vs LST?)

AND Its almost two years later and I still havent finished smoking the Durban Poison. I have two giant buds left to smoke !

It's been proven mainlining will yield and average of 5 to 6 ounces per plant

Lst will yield about 4 Oz

No training will get about 3oz...

That is totally dependent on genetics, I've seen LST yield a pound. Like everything else in life there is a large variance from just simply phenotypical expression alone. Don't agree at all whatsoever with these numbers

Yes there are many varying factors about my post earlier...I've topped autos when you shouldn't and stuff like that... but a "generality" of the methods has been quite proven

It’s really about how long you choose to veg for too bro, as well as strain. I’m kinda baffled how people can reach such a definitive number on something that has so many dependent factors. I mean, I can grow you plants that produce all that and more…….Js.

I'm sure probably looking at same strain clone and phenotype and growing for same amount of time side by side... probably some quasi-lab but I've noticed significant bigger yields from mainlining compared to other methods... again this isn't 100% def but still one lab says this another says that.... go to grow store everyone else has a different opinion on what to do... so I guess it falls under the πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦πŸ€¦πŸ€¦ categories...

It’s a tough one for sure, I get it, in my experience, lst, or mainline, scrog or sog, you can basically get the same yields through all those methods, it’s all in your approach to a hard veg and cola spread and stability, which all of these methods have plus and minuses in those departments respectively. But it you work to the strengths of each method, the sky is really the limit, or headroom is anyways. I do have the luxury of running outside of tents. So there is that too. It’s a good conversation though.,…

My poor little plant is finally putting out some leaves, she may make it . A little nutrient burn? I'm thinking not enough leaves for the amount of salt in the Coco/Soil.

BUT..

I have a metal grow cabinet and noticed an ant which worries me.. White flies? Aphids? I'm not sure what Im seeing here.

This is a "practice grow". I'm hunting for pests and making sure everthing is ok for my next grow. Who knows, this one may make it to flower, she isnt nearly as bad as I thought.

Watering very lighty.... Plain RO water PH'd to 6.0 until she starts drinking more, runoff around 300 ppm's PH around 6.5. Handling this plant like a seedling for a while without watering to runoff...(too much water for the amount of plant)

The circled picture with a question mark (lower) looks like something eating the leaf, you can see a small disfiguration of the leaf right under the spec which has me wondering.
