You are correct, times are just different. I give a ton of respect to new artists who are trying to put out major positivity and subvert the record labels. Lorde, for example. WOW she is a phenomenon and her lyrics, I mean damn dude she must have been a Delphic Oracle in a past life. Lots out there to enhance the mind and heal the heart if you look at it right. And none of them ever killed someone like John Lennon LOL.

Compare the way Doc sounds on the new YYYz record compared to in the 90's. Dare I say he cleaned up? Dare I say that the new YYYz record is ALL ABOUT cleaning up, getting back in touch with their higher selves? At least Karen O is singing about it. I had trouble getting into the new one, "Mosquito" but now it is one of my favorite YYYz records. So much meaning to it, not just art pop anymore. I think they have really hit their stride as accomplished pros now, and left behind so much of the distractions and drugs of the city. If they can bring Doc Oc on board to sing about "cutting the leash" then something MAJOR has happened with my favorite band.
