what LED WORKS???

You'd think the big growers would start trying them IF they worked!! The big grower would love to lower their cooling & electrical costs and whatnot but the LED just don't cover that much area and don't penetrate too deep it seems, it def works but on a smaller scale it does better it seems.
I personally have no experience with it as every single LED grow I've seen leaves so much to be desired.

I got hooked up with a great deal on my first AT. If that never happened I would still be running hps. Get a quality unit and they work great but 1000-3000$!!!. Now I am just a faithful and satisfied grower/costumer.
I just replaced my whole 10x10 room so I'm committed to it now. We will see if they work as well on this larger room for me.

How many lights do you have in your 10 x 10 room LED wise?

Seems like mixed spec/tech is the only way to really benefit. Size -HPS +volume& density LED(providing penetration).
At least thats what I gather from the threads I have read. I look forward to seeng a full blown LED grow come close to HID. Id love to see both Induction and LED come closer.
But the old saying you get what you pay for kinda rings true maybe not in the literal sense, but on the level of creating energy/proper light, we know how warm the sun feels on our face, but the moon light hasn't that affect. I can still read by a full moon light but i sure cant keep my body warm like in the bath of the sun. If that makes any freaking sense... lol

What is the PAR output on your GL700 unit and grow area footprint?
The following measurement results are recorded at a distance measured from the bottom of the Grow light enclosure and not from the location of the light emitters. We give the integral average PAR reading which is calculated by integrating the PAR results over the entire grow area and not just the brightest portion which can be highly localized and misleading. Many manufacturers will publish their PAR measurement at a distance of 2' from the location of the light emitters centered on the grow light. At this location, we measure a PAR reading of 1290 umoles/m^2 s.
At a distance of 2 feet below the grow light enclosure the recommended grow area is 3' X 4' with an average PAR reading of 410 umoles/m^2 s, a central value of 556.5 umoles/m^2 s, and a peak value of 575 umoles/m^2 s.
At a distance of 3 feet below the grow light enclosure the recommended grow area is 4' X 5' with an average PAR reading of 246 umoles/m^2 s, a central value of 304 umoles/m^2 s, and a peak value of 318 umoles/m^2 s.
At a distance of 4 feet below the grow light enclosure the recommended grow area is 5' X 6' with an average PAR reading of 164 umoles/m^2 s, a central value of 195 umoles/m^2 s, and a peak value of 230 umoles/m^2 s.
How many Watts does the GL700 pull?

660 - 700 Watts. Depending on component variations.

You don't need a side by side Brandon, just a analysis of your yield with LED, based on wattage and size of the grow area and some other factors. There have been plenty of med cannabis grows with HID(HPS) so there is somewhat of a baseline of an expected yield with a certain wattage and size of grow area, given the other factors are kept somewhat in check.

All those stats and numbers about your LED unit don't mean anything, numbers are numbers but flowers are flowers and they never lie! How much can you yield off your LED's of cannabis? Your on a cannabis site, if you can't provide these numbers than you need to give people lights and proceed to test before you proceed to SELL., imo

You say it is a whole different way of growing; so explain to me what's so different besides the light source? And I'm sorry it's your first grow with LED, maybe you should perform many tests and than go to market?

The big grower would be investing around a quarter of a million or more. That's a big jump when they have equipment that they know how to use and know that it works. I'd say most of the LED grow lights on the market are scams. Which sucks for the companies that are making products that have the potential to have larger yeilds, cut down on heat, cut down on price of electricity and give you a single unit that can be used start to finish, for over 12 years.

So you save on A/C in summer and spend on heating in the winter, one needs to weigh all options and realize LED's have been around awhile and they aren't gaining the momentum that needs to be seen to promote sales on a large scale, imo. The whole time claiming improvements with each new model so maybe they are on there way to being the best choice...

A side by side takes time. I have been working my way up to a side by side fro the past six months. Right now I am working on finding the right genetics that I want to use for my test subject. As soon as I have that dialed in, I will have results for you, I promise. Until then, it is just a waiting game.

I agree, numbers are number and flowers never lie. You can not say that a light gave you that specific outcome, without stating the other variables.

Everyone regardless of bugs, feeds, genetics should be able to get 1-1.25 a 1kw light and most get 1.5 a 1kw light and the elite get more than that and than the genetics and the other factors really come into play. fwiw

We have been doing grow tests for over four years. This is just the start with medical marijuana.

There is snow on the ground here in Oregon. with propper ventalation and insilation, there is no need for a heat source. Our temperatures range between 75-85F.

Don't trust Chinese LEDs. 1-5W chips are all bullshit. Most of them are less than half that watt. The LED companies market a 1.4w chip as a 3w chip. Then the grow light company is passing on the lie. More LEDs does not make for a better system. A lot of companies are buying LEDs from other companies intead of designing their own. They are picking generic colors off the shelf and mixing them and matching them to try to get the nm they are looking for.

Just a tad bit of info for your brain. I hope some of this opens some eyes to what companies are putting out there and calling leading edge.

When temps were up past 90F outside, I turned my A/C on, on the eco setting for 2-3 hours. I only had to do this less than 5 times. I did grow during the hottest part of the year, here in Oregon, but not a full Summer. I just say propper ventalation is key and a back up A/C can't hurt, when trying to keep your temp under 85. Another important peice of info is that I never used a cooling system to cool my house, just the specific rooms that plants resided.

My first test was just to see if our light would finish a plant. Can our light produce and and finish flowers? Yes, we got buds and our patients were satisfied. The test was done with two Blue Dream plants that I recieved as clones and forced them into budding. They were about 2.5' tall when finish (very small, not my ideal size). They fit into a 3' x 4' space, but our ideal coverage is 4' x 5' (I would have added two more plants). One plant was noticeably smaller in langth and width. We finished with 221.3g of dry, usable material (a bowl pack or larger). That comes out to be 0.335g/w or 0.49896g/kw-h. My next grow I would like to veg my plants out and put more plants under the one light, to max out usable space and get a better outcome. With this grow at least 8 sq ft went unused. Think about that along with, if the plants were vegged out a foot or two taller.
