indica dominant usually mostly milky, sativa dominant up to 1/3 amber.
yep got a few his books around,Not from my side by sides and sample buds. It has been well tested that maximum potency is when all the trichomes are full bulbous and clear and i cut at full cloudy as soon as i see ambers to be sure all trichs as possible have matured. The cloudy state is the oil stratifying which is the first stage of canabanoid degradation.
Now i will say some plants show amber or colored transparent trichomes like purple plants. This is trickier to know when is done but much more rare. And some never go amber but straight from cloudy to dented and brown. That is fully degraded.
There is a lot of info online but even ed rosenthal tested each stage for thc and shows this in his book.

I prefer "early" harvest as well, just couple ambers, I do that with them all, heady stuff with no couch is my normal goalNot from my side by sides and sample buds. Lol, everyone nowadays thinks I harvest "early" because i dont let them get amber (hence the " ")All cloudy is not an early harvest. Clear or 50/50 is what i consider early. But the other canabanoids seem to mature later than thc. And i try to keep them healthy as long as i can so they all go at least 10 weeks.
I noticed that going those last extra weeks gives a full balanced body and head high with the hybrids. I still dont see more than a few ambers though so not sleepy unless i smoke a lot or eat edibles and keep smoking.
