I have noticed that at different times of the day my plants smell more potent. Mid morning when the heat is staring to creep up in the greenhouse they tend to smell stronger. Is there a good time of day/night to harvest for max smellyness?

I heard before lights go on too.
The plant has the lowest levels of carboydrates and nitrates in the cells before the sun comes out.
Both of them affect taste negatively.

I will say @Moshmen your experience n doing this peaks my interest…. With so many practices just being accepted for ages it’s probably worth a visit.

i cant count how many discrepancies between what’s accepted main stream and whats touted as best i have found over the years.

question everthing…

From what the farmers tell me, during the hottest part of the day for maximum final resin and during a waning moon. I've tried indoor like that and dark and didn't find any difference. The moon thing has been plant/clone on wax due to gravity, harvest on wane I got from the Farmers Almanac.

I cut in the middle of the light cycle being ON.
Darkness helps this plant how ?? 🤔 🤷‍♂️
Because light and heat degrade terpenes and cannabinoids over the light cycle… these compounds are then replenished over the dark cycle. Studies show that levels are highest at the end of the dark period.

Thats the scientific claims. But like i say i have bo data myself to make claims. I do feel it’s accurate but that does not mean it could not be

Yeah in not sure the differences would be noticeable by any means other than lab testing

One thing I have always been curious about is factors that contribute to the duration of effects, like how some give a good whack but it's short lived, any thoughts? I mean in a ripe plant .

Yeah its a combination of cannabinoids and terpenoids that makeup the high and effects we experience

I've always harvested at sunset or just before the lights go off. The way I figure it, trying to harvest in the dark is going to expose plants to light (we need to see to chop, move the plants, etc.) so I prefer to do it just before it gets dark so once they are chopped they can go into total darkness, undisturbed, until dry, and ready to cure.

This is my feeling as well ... while studies may show slight boosts in plant hormones right before sun-up, I doubt it's noticeable by the consumer.

Edit: Plant sugars and terp production take photosynthesis which isn't happening in the dark. Cannaboids are all driven by photosynthesis. I think Dr. Bugby speaks of this in one of his podcasts ... I half expect that the harvest in the dark idea will get relevated to "old science" soon. For example, one of his podcasts states that 48 hrs of darkness doesn't do anything helpful and instead run your lights for 48 hrs prior to harvest ... or something of that nature. It's been discussed in another thread here on the farm before.

That, and I don't believe the plants fully "die" the second you chop them, either. So I see no reason why this process would stop immediately when chopped. I could be wrong, tho... >,>
