damn bro i though you sang for the kinks....lol..jk ....really this question is just opinions bro , there are alot of good breeders and alot were mentioned but its all subjective - u should be interested in who not to buy from imho as there are people with nothing but bad reps all mentioned here are particular people's favorites ...... consistent product and price enter into my list but wouldn't wanna offend anyone by listing favorites jmho

Not sure I agree with that statement.

Many arte doing this for cash and recognition. I can't blame them for that. I will blame them for not testing the seeds they charge a good deal of cash for though. I feel for most hte reality is they made a great batch or 2 of seeds with good progeny got some hype built up and then phone it in. Also the consistency, again issue of not testing to see if these are worth the consumers cash. Most dont care. that is a ton of extra work and minimum of 4 months time and space dedications. I am going to venture that this is not just a hobby for us farmers but a livelihood. It is difficult to scrap proven winners/producers for a crap shoot. Sure one or 4 plants is fine but really gives very little in terms of true representation of said variety.
I plan to change that. I have the space the time and resources to do what the other have not been able to achive. Bringing to market a number of true breeding varieties and cornucopia of wonderful hybrids. Many elites and landrace genetics are to be used.

A pro greenhouse can have 200,000 tomato plants that are near identical...but we, as a community, get a 10 pack of seeds with 10 different genotypes - and one "keeper" if we're lucky. Seed companies are generally poor.

A breeder selects the best individuals from large pools genetic pools, and uses statistics to predict outcomes, and fix desired traits over several generations. Reeferman worked with land races and had lots of unique crosses.

Crossing elite clones doesn't make someone a breeder. If everyone had access to the "elite" cuts, then everyone could be the "best" breeder.

The best breeder question needs to get put in time frames..... whenever till 1990 then 91-95, 96-2000, 2001-2005, 2006 - present. Seems every 5 years or so it dramatically changes. Also best breeder also depends on personal experience. If you want a true rep of a breed you need to pop a solid 30 seeds. I will get luck sometimes with a 5 seed pop on some fems or hybrid f1s but others may not. Iv popped seeds and had shit expressions then came online and saw what others found so I popped a grip more and found fire. Even some of the top breeders like dj short iv ran a 5 pack and found crap then came back a few years later and found completely better phenos. It's really a luck/ numbers game with seeds. I don't think anyone can say who is the best breeders.......but I do have a list of breeders iv had nothing but bad pheno finds from or herms from every time.

That's a great idea Skunk as breeders come and go in that span of time! I know one thing ......the best breeders don't have to spend absurd amounts of money on advertising in mags like High Times or Skunk. Some of the usual suspects are Cali Con, TGA/Subcool, Greenhouse, and Barney Farms. I've made and found better smoke just running (5) free pollen chucked beans than whole packs from those mentioned! Damn shame too because if they spent half of their company's advertising budget on developing some real fire instead of buying Cups and just throwing together and rushing out 15+ new strains every year.

Show me a rich dude and I can probably show you a trail of poor and/or misguided folks that he's conned!!! It's a game of con men, pollen chuckers, and real deal breeders out here bros, it's a seedy business! So be the BEST CUSTOMER and do a li'l research to gain some knowledge before you buy ......one thing peeps need to stop doing is buying impulsively because of genetic make up listed, that's only fueling all this garbage!!!

I agree with you 100% @symbiote420 . The reason I say it would be cool to categorize by time periods is primarily a good share of companies that were epic are straight trash now (well atleast from my experience with the seeds). For example, serious seeds used to have some serious dank. There early releases of ak47, white rhino and bubblegum were pretty badass. I ran a pack of each. Only one pack of each and got some insane frosty monsters. Bought more packs in 2007 and I can honestly say they were not even close to as good. The ak47 most have completely different parent stock. Also found that to be true with paradise seeds and there sensi star.
I can name a ton of breeders iv ran seeds from and had real nice results. The same ones a lot of people will mention like bodhi, loompa, ogr, mota, jj, Jimmy and guys like that. I can also name a ton of breeders I think a lot will agree have put out some horrible stuff but I won't focus on that. Shit my friends and even myself have made some pretty awesome shit just playing with pollen. I don't say what I do is pollen chucking.....I just play with pollen lol.
I will say this though......Those dudes who travel and seek out breeds to do work with have my respect. I did that once and it was insane. Bodhi travels all over in some wild places to score genetics and breed them. That's what I call being seriously focused on your craft lol
