Why Are My Plants So Small?

Hi, i would like some advice before I plant again.. my first 8 plants seemed to be small, I'm pretty sure I know why, but I would like a few other opinions.

(12 weeks)
Now I started the grow with a 4 bulb t5 and about week 6 of veg I put the 8 bulb T5 up and they didn't really grow much after that, they just got alittle wider. So I think they didn't have the light they needed for the first couple weeks.

(I was using fox farms hydro calender with all the neuts)

Advise?

You need to keep those T5's very close all of the time,within 2" of the bulbs with a small
fan blowing between the bulbs and the plants makes a huge difference.
Are those bloom bulbs in the fixture currently? They look really white.

Yea you need a little more light intensity. Drop a 315cmh in there you'll be very happy

Well they made some buds for you. A couple things it looks that they hardly been veg'ed I would say is the main thing and you may know when they have nitrogen toxicity or a degree of they will slow or stall and your leaves are showing this may be the case, you really want to back off on nitrogen in bloom it will also keep them from finishing which looks like What's Happening Here . . You might get a grip on the correct pH for whatever your growing in.

Otherwise you've got plenty of buds for what they got to work with

Def can't flower with t5's and expect a decent yield... couple oz's maybe.

T5s can work wonderful for flower.
Here are my flowering ladies under t5 lighting.

#3 under 2' 4 bulbs

The beast clone under 2' 12 bulbs

Your t5 fixture is no slouch.
But you need to keep it 2-3" above the canopy for best results.

You will also want to train your girls more with a longer veg.

With t5 lighting you want a nice even canopy with many tops. That way you will focus most of the plant growth up top where the best light is.

This will help you with size and yield.
t5 lighting makes better flowers than people expect.

You Just need practice that's all :)

No problem.

I just don't want to see you get discouraged that your t5 fixture doesn't work well.

It does work well and can. You Just need practice.

One day you'll come back to this thread as the t5 master :)

Lol. Hey I want everyone to be the best growers.

Once everyone is the best. There will be nothing but quality herb everywhere .

Your absolutely right they can work. And your quality is top notch. But Your style is very time consuming. It's all perspective. To be as efficient as possible hps wins hands down everytime.
I can get that same growth the first two weeks of bloom cutting out a month of veg time.;)
But there's also lots more pieces that are at play like medium, mineral or organic , foilars, room variables etc.
These were flipped to bloom on 3/15 and everything was under the net.

Those are good points yes and I agree completely.

Every different light source has different quirks.

We each must weigh our options carefully and pick what will work best for each of our situations.

That's what makes this plant so fun to grow and be part of. There is many ways to do it with success :smoking:

That right there has to be the hardest part for a new grower to figure out.

It is a very valuable piece of insight.

Don't think what your doing is ever right or wrong.

Rather,
Think what makes it different.
Then think how you can make it work.

They're the bulbs that came with the fixture
