Without going on a rant: Balance the budget by only spending what the gov't takes in. Quit living above our means. Quit being the world policeman. Quit pumping 85 billion a month into the economy. Hold our gov't accountable by reducing the huge amounts of waste. Make the politicians work for the people not the corporations. The people should be able to inspect what the expect and hold law makers, rather elected or appointed, accountable.
Wow squig, we agree! Nothing will happen of course as we are such a divided country. I think Obama is to far left....Clinton would not have the country in this position. Compromise. All well and good. The problem is that the average voter isn't informed enough to properly choose among who is most likely to do this.
As it stands now you won't get this solution from either party (or the tea partiers or independents for that matter).
Eventually what's going to happen is the country is going to wise up and elect a majority of total unknowns with no party affiliation to get in there and shake shit up. We actually have a pretty long and storied history of doing exactly this after a long period of disillusionment (and also a fairly good history of going into economic boom shortly thereafter).
All that we are seeing is really a failure of parliamentary process because either party has found its own way to circumvent the rules which are currently in place (which are ultimately meant to force them to WORK TOGETHER).
I disagree that we can stop pumping money into the economy, but I agree with everything else.
The fact is really that if we were to address all of your concerns here, it wouldn't seem so silly to pump money into the economy because we would actually HAVE money to spend. In principle I understand why you say we shouldn't spend what we don't have, but the problem here (in my opinion) is really the fact that most people see it as money that we don't have versus money that we DO have, which is currently being massively misappropriated in other inefficient areas.
That sounds good but how?Without going on a rant: Balance the budget by only spending what the gov't takes in. Quit living above our means. Quit being the world policeman. Quit pumping 85 billion a month into the economy. Hold our gov't accountable by reducing the huge amounts of waste. Make the politicians work for the people not the corporations. I guess The Crash of the 1920-30's never happened either.
This is the point that must be driven home the most; THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED. PERIOD. In every way possible the system has failed; corruption in local and federal gov. is no longer something done in a rooom with no windows, it's done in the publics faces and the public doesn't care b/c their chasing monopoly money. The school systems are an absolute joke that is becoming so fair beyond repair that demolition looks more and more like the only cure......People need to quit focusing on money and start focusing on whats important; unfortunatly i truely feel the system is on a run-a-way train heading for a cliff and everyone sitting in the kaboose is screaming "faster! faster!". I feel like the only thing that is gonna make people wake up now is for the train to go off the cliff.......and it gets slowly closer every day.Instead of singling out a group of people (Y's) or groups of people (races, gays, etc) why not ask the question, "Why are the majority of ALL people unhappy? I don't know about anyone else but I see people of all ages very unhappy. And the fact that a huge percentage of people take feel-good pharma drugs and/or use "recreational drugs to escape and find happiness is a clear sign that a very large majority of ALL people are very unhappy.
So when is the apocalypse coming, guys? (everyone is so full of....information I figured someone here might know)
Does this mean you don't save for your future/retirement...'cus there isn't gonna be one?
Or if you do, are you stuffing a matress/etc. 'cus you don't trust the "banks"/"federal reserve"/GOVERNMENT???
Jus' wonderin what you think/how you are proceeding if you truly think we are all fucked. What's yer plan? (other than broadcasting that the end is near)
What we are seeing is a slow re-distribution of wealth.
And I don't see any type of "revolution" ever happening in this country.
