Your exactly right, you dont really want to feed seedlings any nutrients until they officially start veg which is when the plant has 5 nodes or moreI suggest starting them in a peat pellet at first (jiffy pellet) and then transitioning from there into a soil mixture without any extended release (which rules out miracle gro). If your pH is good, then just give them water at first. Nothing else. Once they start looking light, feed them something.
My guess is your pH is messed up and/or you are feeding a seedling too much.

This and it looks like the light is cooking them
That monstrosity is the result of this exact method lol. I waited a little longer to transition it from the peat pellet to solo cup because I wanted to at LEAST see 1 little root trying to stick out of the net first, but nothing.I suggest starting them in a peat pellet at first (jiffy pellet) and then transitioning from there into a soil mixture without any extended release (which rules out miracle gro). What is your pH? For when you water I mean. That monstrosity is the result of this exact method lol. I waited a little longer to transition it from the peat pellet to solo cup because I wanted to at LEAST see 1 little root trying to stick out of the net first, but nothing. View attachment 1063476
Light is @ 28” ... the seedlings looked the least leggy when I have it around 26”... I’m going by what others have tried successfully on growdiaries/online with my TS1000 and a photo plant. I’ve started seedlings at 32” - 36” and the same thing happens, just a longer stem. How close is the light?
On this miracle grow one, I’ve been using distilled. Only watered twice since planting. 75ml both times. 2nd time I put a touch of unsulphered molasses just to change things up lol. What is your pH? For when you water I mean.
They might be getting locked out.
DO NOT USE MIRACLE GROW, think of your stalk as a straw, it needs to be open to get the proper nutirents through out the plant. When you use miracle grow it closes that hole and it will NEVER open back up, it happened to me. Use unsulfered molasses. On this miracle grow one, I’ve been using distilled. Not measuring ph this time around. It hasn’t made a difference thus far. Not that you can even measure distilled. ~5.7ph but it has no buffers. Same seedling result in semi-soiless (pro-mix hp) or MG with or without ph’ing my water prior.

If you are watering with water that has a pH between 6.5 and 7.2 and a ppm under 200 and they do that in peat pellets, then i am stumped. I would not blame the seeds. They are clearly trying like hell.
Just looks like lockout to me.

Odds are if the medium has nutes already in it and you give them nutes on top of it it could be nutrient burn but im leaning towards maybe a deficiency or toxicity, try using Cal-Mag.Out of about 40 seedlings I’ve killed now, I can assure you this is the 1 and only grown in MG. I’m at the point where I just want something, anything, to happen in that tent besides death.
This is why I was so sad to see the same result with MG lol
And also, distilled water is good for germination but i really wouldnt recommend watering with it unless you are using reverse osmosis.
