The photos are online, the medical attention documented. The medical examiner for the prosecution testified the wounds were minor. Experts on both sides also testified TM was mounted on top of GZ when he was shot.

However minor the damage, TM a 6 ' 2 " young guy was mounted MMA style on top of GZ inflicting damage. Kinda scary situation.

Dude with a gun following someone in his car and then confronts him even though the police say not to follow him anymore. Kinda scary situation. Minor injuries are common, shooting someone isn't.

Bottomline: Zimmerman should have minded his own biz and taken the 911 dispatcher up on their advice: Stop Following the young man!
He ignored the operator and went about his vengeance mission, then he had to break the law to protect himself from shit he got himself into.
I'm not sure how anyone could defend GZ...

i wanna commend the posters in this thread for their civility. oftentimes, too often, discussions on events like this one quickly move to an unfortunate place and remain there. it says a lot about the membership at the farm that this was not the case here.

as a father, i am heartbroken for the loss that trayvon's parents feel.

personally, there were a number of things that stunned me about this case. most of them horrified me, but the last such thing was the poise and humanity and love exhibited by trayvon's father, Tracy, upon the reading of the verdict. just minutes later, he tweeted:


God blessed Me & Sybrina with Tray and even in his death I know my baby proud of the FIGHT we along with all of you put up for him GOD BLESS


Thanks to everyone who are with us and who will be with us si we together can make sure that this doesn't happen again

Look at it from another way

You are cruising through your neighborhood that has had recent spat of burglaries and vandalism when you see some 6+ foot dude dressed like a thug, shiny grill in his mouth and all. You dont recognize this dude has having any business in this small neighborhood you are familiar with. You call the cops.

Dude cuts in behind/between some houses so you get out just to see where he is going. You find him around a corner and unexpectedly are face to face with him. Words are traded, a fight ensues and now you got this 6 ' + dude on top of you banging your head on the ground. Now this dude is reaching for your firearm that you legally carry.

From the other side.
Im walking back to my dad's house after a trip to the store, talking on the phone with a friend. Some creepy dude looks like he is checking you out. He stops his car and watches you.

Hell with this, you cut through some yards to get away from this strange dude. Suddenly this guy comes out of nowhere. words ensue a fight breaks out. I know I aint gonna be this dudes punk. Now I go the upper hand, holy shit dude has a gun. I better get it away from him. Bang.

These versions are no more conjecture than the crap some have poured out, even though I made them up based loosely on facts.

The only facts are, the jury who heard and saw all the evidence said GZ did not "murder" TM.

Good post. Now if GZ was an officer, he could have encountered Martin but GZ didn't have a right to inspect or question Martin. But, it is done and an all white women jury has spoken.

Reminds me of the South Park episode where they shoot animal species cause it's "coming right for us!" and it isn't...lol

Every state has it's own laws. The laws of the state dictate which version will be considered. You are Innocent until proven guilty. I'm not a lawyer but to read that "stand your ground law", I would have gone for a lesser sentence. It is what it is. A state with a law leaning, might even consider protecting, towards citizens taking action with their own hands.

Or if Zimmerman hadn't of jumped on Martin...Martin could have easily rolled him over and gotten on top. Who jumped on who is not known, is it? Just saying, the facts are limited.

Either way, I don't know what happened, but tis sad that one can murder someone in this circumstance and it isn't a crime.

Alot of people just don't get it ......that's scary to me!

OK it's pretty much been clearly established that TM was not in that neighborhood to steal, so imagine someone is following you around in a car in dark, rainy weather while you're trying to get home. If they take it a step further and get out of their car to follow you ......yea, a frail intimidated person just might run off, but someone who feels they can handle themselves ...even if it's a teenage boy, they will ....more times than not!!

And let's be honest, we all feel a little cockier when we packin' heat! GZ didn't take the stand because it would have shown the world the truth! All the shit he did ...lying, withholding evidence, changing stories ........we still don't know what happened that night fully and since one of the participants is dead and the other's not talking .........why didn't he take the stand?
All that hatred in GZ voice during that night was totally ignored because of fear ......I have two boys and it's crazy I don't want them out of my sight now.
