Here's an interesting study that showed that Bokashi actually made the plants more susceptible to insect infestation, by lowering the amount of natural defense compounds the plant produced. This was on corn with caterpillars. This is just one study, but the first to show anything like a negative effect. Any thoughts?

I have seen bokashi burn plants, but have never seen it with EM-1. I have also never seen an increase in insect infestation with an EM-1 program in my years working with. I have seen the exact opposite. I have seen yield decreases with EM-1 since it promotes leaf growth. The exact amounts vary per plant, but it seems to take well over 100 gallons per acre to get to that with any plant experimented with.
